The teller nicely requested my ID and I furnished that. She told me that the charge would be $6. I told her that was fine and I held out $40. cash to pay for the transaction. A gentleman with a beard sauntered over and asked if I was a customer of the bank. I replied that I was not a customer of the bank. He just shook his head. He stated, we can't do it. I inquired.. "Why not?", "Bank Policy" was his response. He just kept shaking his head glumly. It was kind of surreal because he was standing infront of a Menora, backlit by holiday lights. The teller looked embarassed. Realizing this was a bizzare exchange, I asked.. "OK, is there a different product I should be buying? Something like a money order?" He indicated that I should go to the post office. Ok. Well the place was festive, and the greeter is on his game. I am just missing something here. This was an extremely strange non-transaction.

My family has had accounts here for over a decade. We've watched this place get slowly flushed down…read morethe toilet. I hate the remote teller machines, and nearly everyone who works here acts annoyed when you need to speak with a living human being. Also, at least twice a year, they have data breaches, and our debit cards get canceled, then we're left to wait for them to issue new cards. This is inconvenient and time consuming, but it seems to be the world we're living in now. I truly wish they would go back to having regular tellers. It was actually a nice, friendly place then.

Prompt, courteous, polite and helpful employees. My family has been members here since the early 1970's..so yes..I've seen a lot of changes over the decades. It used to be for working school teachers only and their families. I liked it better that way as it was more focused and personal. But as the years passed it slowly became moreso like a regular bank. Times change but I'm ok with what Ellafi is now. I will continue to use them in Middletown.
