Libbey Park is a wonderful place to spend the day! The park is beautiful, well-maintained, and perfect for families. We especially enjoyed the farmers market, which had a great variety of vendors, fresh produce, and local goods. The live band created a fun and welcoming atmosphere that made the experience even more enjoyable. There was plenty to see and do, and everyone had a great time. What a beautiful park in the middle of downtown Ojai! It's a really nice space if you wanna sit and read a book or take your kids to the playground or even go birdwatching! There is a big beautiful amphitheater towards the back. It's very clean and I love it! read more

We always make a little pit stop at this park whenever we're in Ojai. It's right in the heart of town and pretty big. The classic Ojai archways greets you when you walk through and then the fountains is like the staple of it. The playground is pretty well maintained and looks pretty new. Not only a playground, there's also tennis courts as well as an amphitheater towards the back. There's also somewhat has of a small little trail that could be somewhat of a hiking trail. The grassy area is well maintained and well manicured. It's always pretty busy with people lounging and enjoying some rest and relaxation as well as kids all over the playground having the time of their lives. read more

One of the best parks in Ventura County. A favorite playground in our family. Lots of low elements for toddlers and plenty of opportunities for littles to learn and explore. Beautiful sculptures throughout. Love the faux grass hill (don't forget to bring a piece of cardboard to slide down). Nice fountain area to enjoy. Bathrooms can be a little dirty, but nice to have. Close to many shops and local eateries. During the week (usually) plenty of easy street parking. On the weekends, we usually park at the public lot a couple of blocks away. read more

This park is great for the kiddos! Our kiddo loved the baby/toddler area that had a playground his speed. The swings were super fun and we enjoyed a little of the bigger playground. It's a great break for parents and kiddos after walking around and enjoying other parts of downtown Ojai. We also loved that parking was easy with food options right by the park. A couple of the bigger slides were closed but overall it was a good time. read more

The way my kids' eyes lit up at just the sight of this park was priceless! They had a blast playing on every single toy out there. The location is great because you can quickly grab a coffee, pastry, lunch, or ice cream. It's so close to so many shops. The toys looked up to date and were pretty clean. That was really nice. Before we left, they were already asking to go again. My only suggestion would be to hire someone to push the kids on that awesome merry-go-round because I was crampin and still recovering . What a beautiful and clean park in downtown Ojai. You can have a picnic or just walk around to get some exercise. There is a big playground for kids to play at while you sit at one of the benches and relax. Lots of trees all around and a nice water feature in the middle. We always walk though this park while visiting Ojai. When my kids were younger they loved the playground so much that they wouldn't want to leave. read more

Libbey Park - COVID-19 Sunday Funday - Parks Near Me - Ojai, California

This is probably the best park I've ever taken my kids to. It might be their favorite as well. Ojai is this wonderful little town and I like to visit there at least a couple times a year, even though it's almost a two-hour drive away. Libbey Park is so clean and well-maintained. It's extremely thoughtful in design. One example: parents tend to just sit on benches at parks while their kids play (me-- I'm "parent" and I tend to sit there). So there are benches throughout the park-underneath a gazebo style roof. They're comfortable, roomy and shaded. Another example: there is a literal sandbox for very small children to play in the same style as the shaded bench seating. You sit on the bench and below you is your toddler playing in the sandbox. This review is making me wish I took photos of everything so that people can see and understand all the little details of this park that I'm talking about. It's so lovely that I can't even begin to describe how much I absolutely adore this park. I am not a fan of the wood chips because kids tend to get splinters. In fact, two of mine did when we were there last week, which is why I always carry a needle and tweezers with me everywhere we go, so that problem was taken care of quickly. However, the logic behind the wood chips is that if kids fall off structures and hit their heads, they're far less likely to get concussions and other brain injuries against wood chips than they are against sand. The only place there is sand is in the little area I just mentioned earlier. There is a metal carousel structure that every child just loves. It has to be manually spun, which is exhausting since it can carry like sixteen teenagers easy but it's so much fun. There are several sets of swings but one in particular can carry several children at once. Even I like swinging on it. The play structure is designed for kids of different ages and it's so big. I've never seen one so nice before. There's a bridge, rock climbing, rope climbing-- the whole shebang. The kids played for over four hours and they still didn't want to leave. There's a large fountain in the front that's just for aesthetics but small children will play in it as well. There is a path for taking walks as well as a bridge that leads to who knows where (I've never actually crossed it because every time we visit, the kids are so consumed with playing that we barely leave that area). Libbey Park is huge. Next time we go, I'll do a better job at documenting everything and exploring more of it. Besides the wood chips, the only other thing I don't like are the ancient restrooms. They're old, creepy and the stalls are weirdly designed. You'll see what I mean if you ever need to use it. Part of what makes it so clean is that there are several trash receptacles throughout the park. They're two-parters: one trash, one recyclables. I promise you, every time I've seen them full, I come back around later and they're completely emptied. It's like it's on a schedule to constantly empty them. If you're in the area, you really should check this park out. read more

This is such a beautiful park. I was visiting from LA and you just don't have parks this clean and pristine in LA. The playground and the whole park are so well maintained. The playground looked so fun that I couldn't help but join the kids for a spin on the merry go round. It's a really large park and even has an area with seating and a stage where they must host shows. read more

This is a gorgeous park! Mostly shaded and situated in the heart of Ojai, this is a kids dream! Awesome modern playground equipment (with separate areas for big and little kids), a sand area, a turf hill, hiking path, etc. We enjoyed a morning here after grabbing our coffee. read more

I read in numerous reviews about people saying there is no crowd control here, and that people can go wherever they want, SO... I was concerned. BUT... I am happy to say that Canyon Club must have heard because we were just there last week for a concert and the front area was caution taped off with cones so no one's view was blocked etc. our concert was also put on by Canyon Club. The restrooms were ok, definitely a very long line at intermission. We came early and were able to eat nearby the park and then walk over to the concert later. The seats were clean and there was a sun shade fabric above which helped greatly, would have helped to have some fans blowing the air a bit as it was very hot out even into the evening. We were able to buy cold canned beer and/or cocktails during the concert. It appeared some people bring a chair and sit outside of the bowl, on the grass in the park area and listen from there, but no harm in that. read more

They've completely remodeled the playground and all the play equipment is brand new and cool. They have a swing set with an adult-sized swing, spinny things, a big jungle gym and they have a synthetic turf mini-hill you can roll down or slide down if you have a scrap of cardboard. How cool is that? Downsides - still have to watch out for dog poo on the grass and the park is pretty small. Located right down town though and a parking lot next to it that usually has open parking spaces. read more

Ojai's core park, and home of most Ojai events, like today's Memorial Day weekend Art show. When there's an event, it is fun to stroll under the oak trees on the wide pathways, enjoy the fountain, and wander out to the arcade for some shopping. Numerous trails lead into the park, and it adjoins the bike trail which goes all the way to Ventura's beach. The fountain is lovely, there are flush toilets, a big playground and tennis courts. When there is no event, sometimes the park is overrun with homeless people, but it seems to have gotten better policed lately. read more

The spray-mister here is AMAZING, I've never seen this on a playground and I wish it was at every park! My kids (2 & 4) had a blast here. There is a lot of shade provided but I would still avoid mid-day in the summer due to the heat (lots of slides get too warm). Bring water, the drinking fountain water was super warm. I love that this was volunteer built and you can see from the plaques all of the great community groups that donated their time and money. Awesome park, perfect location. read more

Great place with lots of events. This seems like it's the main place for events in Ojai. There are some tennis courts nearby and the park is located along the main street. I think your allowed to bring your dog on leash. Definitely worth checking out if you have the time. read more

The play area is nice and enjoyable. Slides, see-saw, baby and big kid swings, sand box and much more. I want to like this place so much more. I never give more than 3 stars for a park without a bathroom. This park basically has no bathroom. The one that is here has toilets out of service. It's gross. My other issue is if someone wants a place to sit they can't leave that spot. Enlightenment runs deep. My belongings meant nothing. My children like a place to find their water and sit for a bit. Great park built by volunteers in 2015. Not your typical plastic playground. It has a huge merry go round, lots of monkey bars, a sand box, a turf hill the kids can slide down on cardboard boxes etc. we loved all the unique play equipment. read more
