I have always had a genuine fear of needles, and getting blood drawn has been one of those experiences I usually dread. Ms. Shavonne immediately noticed that I was nervous, but instead of making jokes about my fear or making me feel uncomfortable about it, she treated me with so much kindness and understanding. She made me feel completely at ease, even singing and talking with me to help distract me and calm my nerves. What surprised me most, however, was how incredibly skilled she was. The blood draw was so quick and smooth that I genuinely felt nothing -- and I mean absolutely nothing. As someone who normally expects pain whenever I have blood drawn, that felt almost unreal to me. What impressed me even more was what happened afterward. In the past, even when I have had very skilled phlebotomists, I would still experience some soreness, tenderness, or swelling at the site after the blood draw. With Ms. Shavonne, I had none of that. No pain during the draw, no pain afterward, and no swelling. For me, that is truly remarkable and speaks volumes about her technique and level of skill. I honestly left thinking this lady must be superhuman! Thank you so much, Ms. Shavonne, for your patience, warmth, professionalism, and exceptional skill. You completely changed an experience that I normally fear into such a positive one. The lab downstairs, yikes. It's a zoo most days because every dr sends patients down there at any given time. I would only recommend going with a pre-scheduled app. as early in the day as possible. As for the phlebotomists (people who draw blood) - most are so nice and gentle. 1 in particular was rude and incredibly arrogant last week. I've gotten blood taken maybe 6x here (I'm pregnant) and only recently experienced such unprofessional demeanor. Just a heads up to those with small veins / young children. No one deserves to be spoke to rudely or in- pain. Period. I left with a huge bruise because of her roughness. This specific day I did need to get 4 blood draws, but the pain / bruising was not necessary. I did tell the OBGY office and they were super apologetic. Based on my prior experience I sure hope it was a 1-off experience and I don't run into that young women again because I will absolutely be passing on her drawing any blood from me, ever again and will wait for someone else.

So…read moreI spent a lot of time reading online reviews and bios in an effort to find one who spends adequate time with his/her patients; who listens attentively and willingly answers patient questions; who's very thorough; and who is, of course, well-trained, extremely knowledgeable and very experienced as a practitioner of medical science. Dr. Kramer fits the bill. I was pleasantly surprised to find this learned, yet personable, considerate and UNhurried doctor to essentially become my new GP. Bless him. Additionally, Dr. Kramer's office staff is competent and pleasant. I was happy that their waiting room wasn't filled with people, meaning that they space-out their appointments so that patients don't have extended wait times and the doctor isn't rushed. This shows that they respect their patients' time. Wow! My only *slight* disappointment is that the cost of my extremely thorough and detailed annual physical exceeded my insurance coverage (ACA) by A LOT. But that was offset by the fact that, at least, they accept my insurance, which many (most?) suburban doctors do not. I'm grateful to this practice for that. Unfortunately, my experience was completely overshadowed by the front office, which was managed by the owners' sister Elise. Over the five months I was there, I personally experienced what I felt was disrespectful, demeaning, and unprofessional treatment. I finally brought my concerns directly to the owners, hoping they would listen and address them. Instead, my future appointments were canceled without even speaking to me. No phone call, No referral, Nothing! Just text messages of cancelled appointments. What really opened my eyes was hearing from staff members that several employees had left (at least 4 my 4 months there) because of the way they were treated by the owners' sister. I was also told that other patients had stopped coming because of the way she spoke to and treated them. Based on my own experience and what I witnessed and stated by employees,there was a pattern of different treatment toward some patients of color. In addition I caught them overcharging for my vitamin injections and they have yet to return my credit. I'm grateful for the weight I lost, but no one should have to deal with being treated that way. If you're considering this practice, I would strongly encourage you to look for care elsewhere where patients are treated with the respect and professionalism they deserve.
