You can't leave the room without a teacher coming with you, you can even go to the bathroom without permission from a teacher, and then after a nothing escort teacher is requested, accepts, and then comes to your room to take you. The bathrooms don't lock, and there's so many stupid rules that don't make any sense, you can't bring a phone in without giving it to the principle first, the cars that pick everyone up are always late. And there's so munch hallway propaganda for they "Transgender Club" everywhere, in every single room.and during study hall, you have to do this horrible mindfulness thing that no one likes where they make you put everything away and they do this relax hypnosis trance thing that everyone hates, the worst part is the teacher says you don't have to do it but if you chose not to, you have to sit quietly and not doing anything till it's over which IS DOING THE TRANCE THING!!! You can't not do the trance because, it's loud and you can't ignore it and if you try and put headphones in to block it out, the teacher will take them. They yell at you if your open your chrome book or even have a pencil out during the trance, it acutely gives me a headache and it's fifteen minutes everyday that I'll never get back. Over all I do not like this school one bit and I strongly do not recommend it.

Only relying on other teachers, an answer key and a textbook for us to learn from instead of them. As well as the 8th grade science teacher. One was very fun to talk to, yet the other teacher couldn't teach at all, relying on the internet and is always on "G-chat". In my opinion, the 6th grade science teacher would always complain for the smallest things that we did although we were barely pre-teens then. Always pointing at the board, showing off her nails. If I had the chance, I would walk away from this school during breaks. We can't forget the art teacher. Rumors about him liking younger human beings and always records and takes pictures at kids without their consent. Seems pretty weird if you ask me... And this school reeked with horrible smells. Someone needs to start cleaning the 7th grade hallway or use febreeze!! Now the the P.E. teachers, there was one man that would make a bit upset. He doesn't understand how it feels to go through menstruation and says " exercise makes it better" but as soon as I exercise, I start feeling crippled even more with pain and have to be escorted. That made me feel "real good"... Overall, the vice principal needs to start hiring actual good teachers unlike these. There's a reason why many people don't like this school and are excited to leave.

The academic program here is so intense that even though I graduated somewhere around the bottom 1/3 of my class (I blame my ADHD and general teenage boredom), I was so well prepared that college was a total breeze by comparison. I was a student so long ago that I doubt any of the teachers I had are still here, but I found them to be mostly very supportive and of high quality. Some of them took a liking to me and were especially helpful. My suggestion to parents is to try and get your kid involved in other activities here besides just class. If they're not into sports, DHS has all kinds of clubs, youth groups, yearbook, newspaper, etc. Admissions people like seeing this stuff on your college application and it helps a lot with expanding your social circle.

All of the spaces used were up to date and had the latest technology. The library was large and was giving off very comfortable vibes. The classrooms were large and had spaces to charge your electronics. The cafeteria was large and had plenty of room for the students. There were two tournaments going on when I was there and there was enough space that neither tournament bothered the other. I highly recommend HPHS Highland Park High School!

I stopped a young man who was a student and he explained exactly turn by turn how to get to the Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse which houses the rink. He was a shining example of the type of friendly, respectful and well spoken student one would hope to find here. The ice rink was state of the art and spectator seats were comfortable chairs and not the usual bleacher style seating. It was a comfortable temperature inside as well.

The coach is also the athletic director so his behavior can affect multiple sports. We filed a complaint with the school administration including the new college president regarding this matter, but not sure if anything will be done to address the issue as the president did not want to be directly involved despite our multiple attempts. Another administrator who is very professional reached out and assured that necessary steps will be taken to improve the athlete experience. I sure hope improvements will be made as Lake Forest otherwise is a good school with friendly and caring professors. The team/class/roommates were also friendly.
