I toured Anfield back in mid-2014, before the expansion of the Main Stand which was actually a very good year (but not for Liverpool fans), where of course Steven Gerrard slipped and cost Liverpool the title, in the end giving Manchester City the trophy. I look back and laugh with fans parading around Anfield singing "We're going to win the league" and even teasing me slightly about the result, I look back and smile because I know what happened.
Moving onto my regular review, Anfield is a decent stadium and the stadium tour was quite good and definitely up there with one of the best I've had in total alongside Manchester City at the Etihad, the Allianz Arena and Newcastle United's St James Park.
It took me into most areas of the stadium, which including the seating and to see the actual pitch its-self, the tunnel and the Anfield sign and the Changing Rooms.
The tour guide seemed friendly enough, and we exchanged banter throughout as the title race seemed to be coming to a conclusion up until Manchester City stealing it after a Gerrard slip.
The stadium does look a lot better after the expansion, which taken place this year however the overall match experience especially for away fans seems less than the tour, which I ranked the overall stadium two stars due to it lacking modern features which even Hull City have such as a "Big Screen" and "Away wheelchair seating with the away fans" and "Gluten Free food", which certainly should be expected from a much larger, richer club than Liverpool.
Overall, the tour was good and did warrant a solid three star rating although could be improved such as having some trophies to see along the route which Liverpool have won in recent years (Sorry, couldn't resist) and just overall to made the tour not just good, but the best and sadly it still lacks that feature. read more
