You'll have probably seen this Maghull Coaches-operated multicoloured delight buzzing around town, and one thing I genuinely love about Liverpool is the tourist factor. We don't get as much of it in Manchester, certainly not. No open-topped buses for us telling everyone where the Gallagher brothers grew up or where Tony Wilson found the Happy Mondays... presumably because said areas are still so tatty and rough they'd put the tourists off. Nothing dampens the mood like a tramp in a cagoule grunting 'Ere, our kid, lend us a faaahver'.
This is a great way to see the city. You can hop on and hop off at any points you choose, including the Cathedrals, the gorgeous Chinese Arch entrance to Chinatown, the museum and galleries and the Mersey Ferries. You'll learn everything you need to know from the knowledgeable tour guide, and hear all about the city's history, talent, drama and that salt-of-the-earth humour that makes Merseyside what it is. Highly recommended if you're new to the city, or even if you fancy a refresher course. read more
