Every teacher I had throughout 7th and 8th was fine, there were a few exceptions like Mrs. Harpst (Home Ec), and Mr. Maruyama (C&C Readiness) who were really awesome. Staff is pretty helpful, the restroom situation isn't that bad you can use it. The park nearby was nice to head to after school. Getting dropped off and getting picked up in the frontside of the school was kind of stressful. read more

This school isn't the best school. I'm a student I'm currently on the 2nd quarter of school. First of all, there is a lot of rude teachers and kids. The kids do not care if they hurt your feelings or make u cry at all. Though I only been here for 2 months I have a good list of the good and bad teachers. The home ec program is so so good. The teacher Mrs. harpist is prob the most nicest teacher u will meet in campus. She does not give homework but just easy quizzes that are easy to take. If you hear other people saying that she is mean is because they prob to not pay attention in class or can not go one day without cussing at people. The only problem abt taking this class is that it is a half semester class and you will have to take woodshop next semester and the woodshop teacher is not the nicest . There is a rule that we are not allow to use our phones at school hours, but I have 8th grade friends that said last year they were allow to use it before and after school hours which is not bad. The school care so much about these little issues but ignore the bullying. There was a girl that took her life due to bullying and her parents have an account abt the neglect she got, which is crazy to me because they also have signs abt mh and encourage kids to talk to their teacher or councilors if they are struggling but most teacher say school is the first priory. There is also allegations abt teacher being weird and creepy. Steve Graves is a very good example. though i never had him i think it is crazy how he is been a teacher here working with kids after what he did to that 16 year old girl. I heard many stories abt him telling girls to pull their skirts or shirts for extra credit which is very shocking. Another teacher Mr day was caught watching po*n in class. I'm guessing this is very normal in AUHSD because there has been many reports of student-teacher relationships. The only thing I like abt the school is they don't care. I would probably rate this school 4 stars if it wasn't for the ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT BAND PROGRAM!!! I am going to be in Advanced Band next year and it is going to be what makes school life worth living! The teacher is a total professional and knows pretty much everything about band, so you're in good hands if you want to be in band! By the way, I am super obsessed with band, so that is why I keep talking about it lol. I very strongly recommend picking band as an elective if you go here! The Home Ec program is great too! The Home Ec teacher is pretty much the nicest person in the whole entire school. If you're thinking about what you should pick for your electives here, I definitely recommend doing Home Ec for at least one of your years here. The only problem is that it's semester-paired with Woodshop, and to be honest with you the teacher is not the nicest (as you have probably heard from other reviewers). The only issues I find with this school are either not really under the control of anyone or just my opinions. Obviously there are a lot of mean people and annoying kids, but that applies to every school in the whole world. Plus, the school is quite crowded during passing periods and lunchtime (everyone has the same lunchtime). I find it annoying when I walk behind couples and friend groups of popular and/or mean kids because they always walk slower than a bunch of turtles. I always have the urge to shout in their ears that I have places to go and that if I'm late it's their fault. Also, I think this school tries a bit too hard to prepare us for our future careers and college and stuff like that. They also do this thing called the "Paw Print" and it's where you have to present some projects (that no one even really cares about) in front of some random 7th+8th graders. Here are some HELPFUL HINTS about teachers and stuff if you are going to this school! 7th graders: Choose HONORS ENGLISH if possible. One of the non-honors English teachers is quite mean/strict. But don't worry because there is also a nice one. Also, I highly recommend choosing band for one of your electives! Best choice of my life! But watch out for the computer science/digital animation teacher because he has been reported multiple times for alleged inappropriate behaviour towards students. 8th graders: Dress appropriately and behave to your best ability especially in PE! There is an 8th grade PE teacher (who I actually like) who is pretty strict about these kinds of things. Also, think hard before you pick honors math. Too many kids. Ruins breakfast and lunch. Crowded hallways. Tbh should get rid of some classes to reduce it. Or sacrifice some to the fire they use to make the horrible lunches to at least make some room. edit: time for my actual review. This school isn't the best one in the school system but I certainly know it isn't the worst. I'm about to end my 8th grade year, so I've waited a bit to share my experience. Starting off with the teachers. For my first year some of the ones I had gotten were... rough, to say the least. There were some good ones such as Mr. Aza, 7th science teacher and 8th health teacher, super thankful I got him both years. Another good teacher is Ms. V, who I had known in 7th but never actually had but then got her as my 8th grade English teacher. She's really kind and doesn't care that much if you goof around, simply claiming its the student's own fault for not paying attention in class. She has a point, as how she teaches is really easy to understand if you actually read at least one book in your life. And, of course, there are some bad teachers. For 7th AND 8th grade, I had Mrs. Miyamoto. While she's simply doing her job and highly respect her for dealing with middle schoolers, her style of teaching is too fast. This, of course, is from my experience and can be different with everyone, but some of my other friends had an issue with this too. Along with Ms. Diaz, my English teacher for 7th grade. Again, highly respect her for dealing with sticky kids, but she was a bit too strict. Mr. Day is still at the school currently, although if I remember correctly he'll be retiring next year. Super glad he's going to be gone and future generations of students won't have to deal with his... creepy behaviour. I only had his class once, and it helped to some degree, it wasn't pleasant to be there. Secondly, the old band teacher, Mr. Graves. Back in the 80s or so, he had sexual intercourse with students and when the allegations came out he was fired. Yes, he's gone now, but it doesn't mean this incident didn't happen. For my second point, the food... I remember laughing at an older review about this school on some kid complaining about the strawberries being moldy and well... when I actually tried the lunch for the first time in my 8th grade year, let's just say they weren't wrong. Some of the food isn't pleasant, yes, but at least they give you multiple different choices for what you want to eat. The lines get long, however, and they don't really organize it well. They don't explicitly state what line is for what (example: which line is for pizza and which is for burgers). One day I accidentally went into the wrong line and tried going back to fix my mistake, and I take full credit for the blunder. However, I was banned for "cutting in line" when I had waited the entire time and only realised far too late. Again, I take full responsibility, but I believe it was a bit harsh. Last year in 7th grade, we had the policy of no phones during learning hours, but you could be on it before the first bell and after the last bell. I think this was an wonderful idea, however, this year they made it so you can't be on it at all on school grounds, no matter the bell. Several kids have broken this rule, and I won't say who, but it truly doesn't help. I get it comes from good intentions, but it was better the way it was before. If you get 2 or 3 offenses for breaking this rule, your parents are called. At least, I think. I was on my phone before the first bell even rang, trying to turn off my phone (as the rules state, they need to be off) and my password is long and I kept messing up. A staff member yelled at me that I was texting and insisted it was my 3rd offense when in both my 2 years, it was my very first. I, of course, protested but they insisted. Then, they said to turn it off and looked at my phone to make sure. And, of course, it was already off. I made a lot of friends, and don't regret going here. Yes, there was a cannibal during my 7th grade year, but that's a problem for highschooler me to worry about. Would I recommend going here? I'd say that there's other places you could check out, but yes, I would recommend it. side note: I took a lot of pictures on my 3DS here and because it isn't cellular, so they don't really care. Lexington is super fun to attend! There are a lot of activities to participate in, and it's been an overall great experience. However, I do have quite a bit of nitpicks. Firstly, there have been multiple teachers who have had incidents involving students. Mr. Graves is a perfect example of this, because it was confirmed that back in the late 80's he had sexually assaulted a few young female students. Even though the statute of limitations keeps him from going to jail, he was fired and now we have a cooler band teacher. Also, the digital animation teacher, Mr. Day, was actually caught watching porn in class and there has been several instances of him being inappropriate. They only keep him on, because they couldn't find anyone else. Luckily, he is retiring next year. Ms. Cummings never did anything inappropriate, but she was one of the worst teachers I've ever had. She would be super judgmental towards the 7th grade girls, and weirdly friendly with the 8th grade guys. I get she has to be strict so no one gets hurt, since it's a wood shop class, but she was openly rude to the students. Once we were making a box, and I had asked her to cut a floor for it. She told me to wait since she was busy doing it for others. Later, I went back to get it cut and she said how I should've gotten it done earlier and that I wasted class time. She's just the worst. Ms. Sweeney is also pretty strict. There are a lot of people who like her, but she has been so overdramatic about so many things like jeez. Secondly, they made it a rule so you can't use phones on campus at all. Last year, we were able to use our phones before school started and after school. Now it's completely banned. They're so strict about this rule, but so lazy about literally anything else. I've seen kids get bullied, and the staff walk by like nothing is happening. They care so much about the dumbest rules, and the actual good rules aren't cared about. Also like 3/5 of the kids there are assholes. They make crude jokes, and are just menaces to society. I once went into the bathroom, and I heard two voices coming from that one big stall. Like, HELLO WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS IN A SCHOOL BATHROOM. Thats all my negative comments, but there are some really good things about it. Most of the electives are super fun and enjoyable. I'm in Advanced Choir, and I have so much fun in that class. Ms. Batinga is a bit strict, but she's just kind of a perfectionist. Also Culinary has been one of the best classes I ever took. Ms. Harpst is the nicest teacher on campus and is an amazing teacher. Drama is also a great experience. Many of my friends are in it, and I've had the pleasure of being in the spring musical. Honestly one of the best experiences of my life. Ms. V is the chillest teacher, so I recommend taking Drama. Drama 2 is very likely to get cancelled next year due to not many people joining. I am helping my 7th grade friends to save it. I am going to 9th grade this year so I have decided to write a review for Lexington. First of all this place is good. Some teachers are nice and show support for you. The boys bathroom however could be a little better. People are on their phones or just hanging out without doing their business in there. Also the electives. Digital animation was a little disappointing. I think in my seventh grade year, we spent half the semester creating a flip book and learning the history of animation. Then for the other half of the semester we used the computers and created a final project. I kind of found it bad because half the semester went into history and other stuff. Also the food/environmental science elective. This elective has probably been one of the worst electives you can possibly take. The teachers not bad, however i felt like he didn't know what he was doing. He mostly forgets to collect paper assignments and also we don't do that much in environmental science because it's the SAME as 7th grade science. Ah...Lexington Junior High, what a time it was. A school I hate to the very core of my being, truly the worst. Everything from the teachers to the food was absolutely deplorable. I'll start off easy, the food sucked but I think that's just all school food. The students were the same, shitty but expected. The biggest issue was the shit quality teachers that infested the school around my time of attending it. So in this review I'll be going over me and my friend's personal experience of these teachers. Let's start off with Mr. Day, the computer science when me and my buddy were around. There was a lot of rumors circulating around this particular teacher. For example, one time he got caught watching porn in front of the entire class. Another one was that he told someone to wear a mini skirt if they wanted extra credit. My buddy said he smelled really weird but that's just his personal nitpick. I remember I was on some sort of yearbook duty this one time and I was talking to him in his class. It was getting a little difficult converse with him so I tried to quickly wrap up the conversation and leave. Then the shitter had the audacity to grab my shoulder and pull me back. He was a real fucking creep. My friend told me that one of HIS friends was "inappropriately touched" by this teacher. Another friend told me that he had been fired before but the school couldn't find a replacement for him so they ended up keeping him. If this is true then this isn't just a simple one teacher problem but the entire school's fucking faculty. Another teacher that was pretty shitty Ms. Cumming, I never had her so most of this information is coming from my buddy. According to him, this teacher blatantly sexist. Whenever a girl made a mistake in class, she would be very nice about it and help them with the assignment. ON THE OTHER HAND, the dudes were treated horribly. If one of the DUDES made a mistake, she would make a big fucking deal about it and would tell then "it's so simple" and "why can't you wrap your head around it." Talk about double standards. She was also a terrible teacher, dare my buddy say, she couldn't teach at all. She would give the student ridiculously difficult digital worksheets and expect them complete it without fail. Bitch ass cunt didn't even speak a word on the subject and just expects her students to have the knowledge burned into their brains already. I do have one story that's from my personal experience. I accidentally walked into her classroom during her after school robotics class and she tells me to come up to the front DESPITE THE FACT that I clearly stated that it was by complete accident that I ended up in the classroom. She then proceeds to yell and lecture me in front of the all the fucking students that had the misfortune of being in her class. I didn't have her for any of my classes neither have I ever even seen this old hag before, and she has the fucking audacity to yell at my face. Anyways, that's all me and my friend had to say. I went to this school. Over all great experience. Never seen anyone get bully nor did I get bully, Teachers were great, some teachers and cousulars stood watch doring lunch. Now my sister is about to finish her 8th grade year soon. So far she has told me that some teachers are awesome and some are not really. To the point that some teachers would on purposely make kids late to their next class if they did not clean up every little tiny paper from the floor and no my sisters dose not exaggerate when it comes down to this kind of things. The only other teacher I have still heard bad things about is the computer teacher... I never like him and still dont never got a good vibe from him, I still hear his a creep and dose creep stuff.
