Some of the kids here act tougher than they are? Confusing right though the environment is cool I…read morefeel like some kids should get the honor of asking the principal for there own ideas and things to do. Very dirty kinda of aura to it and like I think some of the older teachers are better than the new ones. Also BETTER FOOD PLEASE thank you.

There is no objective measurement criteria for a school to be called "the worst," because most…read moretimes, people judge the quality of schooling through their own personal experiences, rumors, or just a bad year they may have had there. Gordon H. Beatty Middle School, however, is not one of those schools and is rated as a good institution, with 7 out of 10 as its overall ranking and decent academic achievements in comparison with other middle schools of California. The complaints of students and parents about dirty bathrooms, bullying and disrespect, cliques, much homework, or a harsh environment are all normal and usual complaints which are relevant not only to this particular school, but also any middle school in general. Some other Beatties, such as Beattie Middle School or the Beatty middle school in the remote area, are no better or no worse than other middle schools in terms of usual challenges, such as lack of sufficient educational resources or a mix of negative and positive reviews. Generally, middle schools are judged negatively due to all the factors which are associated with this particular age, such as behavior, social relations, and drama.

This was my son's first year attending Orangeview and it has been a bit of a rollercoaster. Having…read moreto change schools, leaving his friends behind was tough and challenging for him. But with the support of his parents and teachers he has seen great improvements and we are very optimistic that he is now in the right path to maintaining academic performance. The teachers have done a great job communicating with us using the ParentSquare app, allowing us almost live access to class content, events, grades and homework. We are very happy to see the efforts to integrate and nurture social interaction and knowledge. This past December we had the opportunity to attend the Winter Concert where my son was part of the Choire. We were so excited and happy to see the event. Thank you Miss Joy Reyes, for your great work!

My son loves his teachers and has a lot of pride in being a panther. Specifically, I'm impressed by the work of the instrumental music teacher, Mrs. Reyes. The amount of growth the program has seen since last year is quite remarkable. Music programs are so important and are a great experience for kids. I'm so glad my son got to have that experience.

Even in these dire economic times, our district has shown progress at the state testing level. It has met California's standard for reaching an API score of 800 and over. Centralia is on the path to success and must continue on that road. The Centralia School District has a very diverse student population. I am committed to meeting the needs of every student group. As a board member, I will strive for a partnership between administration, teachers, support staff, and parents so our district can continue its goal of providing students the learning experiences they need to prompt their academic success. With meeting the needs of all our students as my top priority, I request your vote to serve on the Centralia Board of Trustees.

I am very concerned about an experience my 5-year-old daughter had at this school. After dropping…read moreher off, I realized she had left her lunch in the car. I returned within minutes and left her lunch at the office, expecting it would be delivered to her promptly. Unfortunately, her lunch was not given to her until a couple of hours later--by which time her scheduled lunch period had already passed. As a result, my child went without the meal we had prepared for her. When I spoke with the principal, I was told that delivering lunches is only a "courtesy" and that students are expected to come to the office to pick them up, as stated in the student handbook. However, my daughter is in kindergarten and only 5 years old. It is not reasonable to expect a child of that age to manage this on their own, especially without support or reminders. This situation is even more concerning because my daughter has food allergies, which is why we carefully prepare and pack her lunch. Ensuring she has access to safe food is not just a matter of convenience--it is a matter of her health and well-being. I am currently awaiting a response from the district, but I felt it was important to share this experience. I hope the school will reconsider how situations like this are handled, particularly for very young students, to ensure their basic needs are met during the school day.
