We have NEVER had a teacher we did not appreciate. As for the posts regarding bullying. . .I wonder if they are reaching out? Is the school aware of what is going on? I have had bullying issues with my child being on both ends and the school has not only contacted me immediately but helped resolve the issues, whether is be a meeting with teacher/principal, a phone call, or a sit down with other parents. They do have high turn over for principals but it has never really caused us any issues. And they do stress attendance but I cannot imagine any school not. Regular attendance helps the teacher & student build a relationship. Attendance is important!!

The TK she's attending is a lot bigger with a lot of kids and I could only imagine it would have been overwhelming if it was her first school experience. Instead I have an extremely happy 4 year old excited for school every day. LSOTW prepared her for the full time school structure. I would have enrolled her earlier if I knew it would have made such an impact. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive The school is clean and I loved their safety protocols. I looked at other schools around the area when I was looking for a preschool and LSOTW was by far the best. We will miss LSOTW!

The staff think the kids can't remember or won't repeat what's being done at school. My son has went to this school for 2 years & since day 1 he has experience different treatment than the "white kids" receive. He complained about being yelled at, asked "why you can't do it & the other kids can!" & being forced to complete his lunch after stating his full!!! I am a public school educator…read more Many of the teachers here previously taught in the public school system, such as one who taught for 20 years in LAUSD. The rigor is there. The staff emails all the time and answers emails quickly without needing to set up appointments--that's a HUGE difference than public school. What GCS does better than public schools is give grace--late work is accepted, retesting is often offered, and more. The funny thing is, this is an equity issue that many public districts are just now doing--LBUSD and LAUSD both offer these now. GCS has been doing this for YEARS because it's part of the praxis of Christianity--if you can have a second chance, they'll give it to you. So thankful to be part of the GCS community. I never thought we'd be private school people, but Covid changed that. Now I see the huge difference between public and private education--and I teach in a public school.

I am a grown adult now and can look back and see the ways that some teachers really take advantage of the fact that children do not have the capabilities to defend themselves. I remember many instances of abusive language and outright racism towards me (one of the only Asian students in a primarily white classroom.) I remember an extremely problematic comparison of Asians to Jews when explaining why "people didn't like Jews." I remember her calling me the dumbest smart person she had ever met and treating me like my successes mattered less than the ones of my white classmates. I remember her yelling in class, and I remember her making me cry many times. I am a teacher myself now and am horrified that this was ever allowed. I am horrified that she still works there. People like this should not be allowed to be around children. I hope she finds a different line of work.
