The TK she's attending is a lot bigger with a lot of kids and I could only imagine it would have been overwhelming if it was her first school experience. Instead I have an extremely happy 4 year old excited for school every day. LSOTW prepared her for the full time school structure. I would have enrolled her earlier if I knew it would have made such an impact. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive The school is clean and I loved their safety protocols. The staff think the kids can't remember or won't repeat what's being done at school. My son has went to this school for 2 years & since day 1 he has experience different treatment than the "white kids" receive. I am a public school educator…read more Many of the teachers here previously taught in the public school system, such as one who taught for 20 years in LAUSD. The rigor is there. The staff emails all the time and answers emails quickly without needing to set up appointments--that's a HUGE difference than public school. What GCS does better than public schools is give grace--late work is accepted, retesting is often offered, and more. The funny thing is, this is an equity issue that many public districts are just now doing--LBUSD and LAUSD both offer these now. GCS has been doing this for YEARS because it's part of the praxis of Christianity--if you can have a second chance, they'll give it to you. So thankful to be part of the GCS community. I never thought we'd be private school people, but Covid changed that. Now I see the huge difference between public and private education--and I teach in a public school.

I am a grown adult now and can look back and see the ways that some teachers really take advantage of the fact that children do not have the capabilities to defend themselves. I remember many instances of abusive language and outright racism towards me (one of the only Asian students in a primarily white classroom.) I remember an extremely problematic comparison of Asians to Jews when explaining why "people didn't like Jews." I remember her calling me the dumbest smart person she had ever met and treating me like my successes mattered less than the ones of my white classmates. I remember her yelling in class, and I remember her making me cry many times. I am a teacher myself now and am horrified that this was ever allowed. I am horrified that she still works there. People like this should not be allowed to be around children. I hope she finds a different line of work.

The new principal is very hands on he cares foe the kids I've even seen him console crying kids on the first day of school just how kids get when they're off to school for the very first time and cry. He believes in awarding the kids who excel my children have encountered great teachers with the exception of one but that was many years ago. My children love the school and the teachers and have made many friends within the very few years they've been here. The school has been newly remodeled a year or so ago but it still has an above average rating in the school rankings so not sure what to think of it. At least the school and community are moving in the right direction.

Both of my sons attend/attended Tiny Tot, and their staff feels like a second family to us…read more Although it is hard to have two working parents, Tiny Tot gives me peace of mind, knowing they are being well cared for. The school provides healthy lunches and snacks, makes students wash their hands at least 5 times a day and makes them drink water throughout the day. They even brush their hair when they wake up from a nap and put sun block on the kids if it's hot out. That is love. The academic program has well-prepared my son who is now in Kindergarten. My youngest son now attends, and if he cries when I drop him off, the owner or teacher will even text me with pictures saying that he's stopped crying and is playing with his friends. This extra step of them going out of their way to give me peace of mind means so much. In addition, they teach students to be kind, rooted in prayer and patriotic as well! Both my little ones put their hand over the heart for the Pledge and sing and love patriotic songs now. Overall, I can not recommend this place enough. The kids are happy, healthy and cared for. They love their students and it shows!
