This partnership with Home Depot seems flawed with a bait and switch to lock you in with Lex Construction, who does absolutely nothing but install a door and overcharges for labor, especially custom services, such as a cement saddle/threshold fill, to ensure the door fits. They Home Depot rep states one thing and Lex Construction seems to state another to replace a basement walkout external door, which is 32"x76", for a rough opening of 34"x78" with a cracked cement saddle/threshold. We didn't want to pre-pay $40 for any door measurement unless the Home Depot rep called to confirm Lex Construction could do both: replace and install door with cement saddle repaired and filled to close flush for preventing water from flowing through the cracks. However, the Home Depot rep recommended a fiberglass door using our own measurements and pictures whereas the door measurer suggested a steel door later. It's unclear if we can lower the cement saddle to use a standard door (~32"x80"). It took two weeks playing phone tag to schedule the door measurement without any voicemails leaving potential times of availability. Whenever I called, the lady was unavailable, driving, or not ready to handle anything until she could call back at her convenience. Then, the measurer arrives late due to traffic, which isn't his fault. He was courteous, fast, and helpful. However, I feel the measurements seemed so rough that I wonder how precise they'll get the install right with such estimates, not exact measurements. He said the quote would include the lockset as told by the Home Depot rep, but then the quote doesn't include it. Plus, the coordination and misinformation are confusing when the quote seems to be only for the labor (~$650) to install the door and custom work (~$1K) that isn't accounted for with any price breakdown or duration with rough delivery (e.g., three weeks to order custom door) and installation times. This is not only an inefficient and misleading process, but a frustrating and unhelpful one where I don't recommend going through two parties, who don't seem aligned for a seamless transition and customer experience. Don't waste your time with Lex Construction. It's clear that they haven no sense of customer service. They have left me with no recourse but to never trust them and Home Depot in Flushing again. read more

I purchased a storm door trough Home Depot and Lex Construction is the company they picked to do the installation. Like if they were a doctor's office, they gave me an appointment for a month after they called me, just to take the measurements, not for the installation, and even thought I needed the installation to be done ASAP because of the winter coming, I accepted to wait. The lady at the phone told me it wasn't necessary for me to be there, but since I work from home wasn't a problem anyway. When the guy who takes the measurement came, he knock in our door once, and left 30 seconds after that attempting to call me again, or wait a little longer for someone to open the door (I was upstairs and didn't hear the know in the door). Terrible servicie. The only solution they provided me was to make another appointment and wait another month just to have the same guy coming to take the measurements lol. I thought by the time they finally install the door, the winter was going to be over. Thanks but not thanks, I went to Home Depot and I asked someone at the parking lot to help me out. We installed the storm door in two hours, no problems, and probably for half of the price. I will never use this company for anything. read more

I could not be happier than I am right now after the completion of my new front door and storm door installation by Lex Construction. With COVID-19 supply chain issues, the amount of time between purchasing the two doors and having them delivered to Home Depot was unusually long and disappointing. However, having Lex Construction's installer (Gary) finishing up this project this morning with such care and detailed attention compensated almost entirely for the difficulties upfront with Home Depot. The office staff at Lex Construction was extremely helpful every time I called. Without any hesitation, I can recommend the Lex Construction firm especially with Gary being the installer. read more

Leaving a review cause I had such a drastic experience from the other two. The measurer came out the next day after receiving my order at 630am to measure for the door and was gone in minutes. Didn't disturb us at all. It was Christmas so I didn't get a call to schedule for maybe a week and a half but when he did call he was very accommodating and came out the next week. Showed up on time and he was very pleasant. It was the same gentleman that measured and he really did a great job on the storm door. It looks good and I don't feel cold air coming in anywhere. read more

Worst service ever. After multiple calls to Home depot (and having to prepay both the doors and labor), I was able to purchase doors from Home Depot for which they outsource the install work to Lex Construction. Two months later (scheduling was a nightmare) install is supposed to happen between the hours of 12 to 4pm. At 3pm, I get a call from the contractor asking what the parking situation was (I had already promised to accommodate parking costs as there is a garage on the same block as us but street parking is hard to come by in our area). This call led me to believe the guy was on his way. At 4:15pm, no sign of contractors anywhere and he finally picks up the phone and tells me he "told his office he wasn't going to do the job" and they were supposed to call me but of course no one did (and the office closes at 4pm). He refuses to give me an explanation as to why he didn't feel like showing up today. So basically, I had to take a whole day off from work and wait around for someone with complete disregard for other people's time and who is incapable of simply doing what is promised and has already been paid for. Absolute horror story. Ordered interior doors from Home Depot (which is another disaster, but will be in a separate review), who subcontracts with Lex Construction. Lex Construction never showed up on the appointed date and time for the estimate, and didn't have the courtesy to call me and tell them they intended on not showing up. I had to wait another week for them to come out. Fast forward to install date 7 weeks later, the doors were not able to be installed because HD and the manufacturer dropped the ball on the merchandise and screwed up with the locks and the peephole. Eduardo, the installer from Lex was kind enough to tell me that I am holding up the install of the doors and I should have let him install them without having the locks or the peephole predrilled (something I prepaid for and should have been done by the manufacturer). Really Eduardo? Hmm. I think not. Because then no one would show up to install the peephole for me at a later date (not to mention Danielle from Lex said the manufacturer has to do it otherwise the warranty would be void if anyone else did it) and I would be left with doors that a) don't have a deadbolt lock and a exposed large hole for said lock until I could get a lock, and b) then wait for someone to come back and install the lock and we all know that's never going to happen. Then Eduardo tells me that they cannot guarantee the reinstall of my existing security doors and that I should have been told that by the person who did the measurements. Walter, apparently the regional manager did my measurements/estimate and he never told me that when he asked me if I wanted the security doors reinstalled. What Walter did say to me is that my address numbers would not be reinstalled by the installer. Thanks for the heads up Walter. In a nutshell. Don't buy your doors from Home Depot. Lex Construction has the monopoly on the work there and you will officially be screwed. No matter what HD you go to. Lex is the installer. Buyer beware. I'm sorry I did not read the Google reviews before I made my purchase for custom made doors. Don't waste your time reading the reviews on Lex Construction website. It was probably employees family members who left the reviews. Read the Google reviews first. Good luck! read more

I have had a horrible experience with Lex. I have a kitchen install going on since March2013. I would NEVER recommend this co. to anyon, Home Depot uses them exclusively, & you have to pay the WHOLE amount up front. I have had an installet scew up so many things, mose importantlt my backsplash. They NEVER get back to me, no even the big guys in the co. HORRIBLE experience read more
