I have had two transactions with this local, small town, Title Company.
The first when I purchased my home in 2018. This process was mucked up so much I ended up receiving 3 different closing statements and then received a "refund" check because I had "overpaid".
Now I have sold the home and again this company has mucked it up. Instead of having me pick up a check, they offered to take the check to my bank and deposit it into my account, per the instructions on the funds disbursement form. This sounded great.
However, the Escrow Officer who walked into WSECU with my check and account information exited the bank with a receipt for a totally different person. Mucking this up even further was the fact that WSECU is a co -op credit union and was accepting the deposit for my credit union account, which was not at WSECU but at a co-op credit union. I should have had funds on Wed, it is now Friday and I still do not have the funds.
The ensuing battle between these entities, each blaming the other, has been ridiculous. There is no reason the escrow officer who deposited the check DID NOT look at the receipt, see the incorrect name, and make the correction at the bank on the spot. TO this very minute, Lewis County Title refuses to accept or acknowledge the fact they were the entity which could have corrected this error on the spot, even though WSECU has acknowledged (and apologized) for the mistake.
The fact that the buyer has been in my house for 3 days (since WED) and I will not have my proceeds until Monday, is not acceptable or reasonable. I have contacted an attorney because of all the run around. The negligence displayed by the Title Company's Escrow officer, in not even bothering to glance at a receipt for the transaction she just made, to ensure it's accuracy, is not acceptable, - nor is the title company's inability to apologize for this delay.
Lewis county title may be the only title company in Chehalis, but I would strongly recommend you use any other title company in the nearby town of Centralia, or any other title company period. read more
