I don't know what to say aside from Omaha knows how to do a riverfront. Living in Kansas City our riverfront is really underdeveloped and I left here dreaming of what I wish could happen in my own hometown. This area boasts an urban beach, some really nice and fun swings and chairs, and what I would consider to be one of the best playgrounds I've taken my kids to. It feels safe, it's clean, and it's filled with families enjoying these free amenities to the city. My kids loved it and I left really impressed. Next time we are in Omaha with the kids this will be a must stop for us! read more

This is one of the 3 Riverfront parks that recently received a multi-million dollar renovation. And it looks amazing. Some of the parks features include sand volleyball courts, a restroom facility, water fountains, fire pits, Adirondack chairs, and an urban beach, the Labor Statue, a nice marina, an amazing playground, glider swings, and paved walkways. They also have umbrella tables and chairs for visitors take advantage of. This park is relatively new, being dedicated in 2020 and it spans about 23 acres. The park leads to the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge. The fenced in playground is awesome. It has a few water features, a couple of towering rocket themed jungle gyms with slides and bridges, a couple of spinning net climbers, a trojan horse, a pile of tree trucks to climb on, and a zip line. There is also a sand area for kids to get messy. It is a very impressive playground. It is on artificial grass and gravel and there are benches placed around the area for caregivers to sit while their little ones play. This is a very nice park that overlooks the Missouri River and not only give you a scenic view of the River, but of Iowa, across the river and the Kerrey Bridge (which is extra awesome at night). The investment in this park was money well spent. I really enjoyed this park. I stopped here on my way the the Kerrey Bridge and chose to hang out there a bit. This park hosts special events on occasion. I hear that it can get crazy during some of them and to avoid the park, if possible. There is a huge open cement pad behind the Kiewit Luminarium. It has a few tables, but is otherwise pretty open. I spent about an hour here and could have easily spent a half day or more. Omaha has some awesome parks. I highly recommend checking this park out and spending some time here. read more

This landing holds a very special place in my heart. As the location for the annual Taste of Omaha it's where my now husband asked me to be his girlfriends a couple years later his wife. It's a gorgeous walkway just feet from the missouri river. It's actually really big, as I mentioned it plays host to large summer events and festivals making for a beautiful days and lots of memories to be made. At night with the Bob Kerry Bridge lit up, it's quite spectacular. There aren't any concessions or anything other than benches so it's not like a great spot unless there's an event. read more

I love the landing because it is a great place for a concert or any other event and parking is usually pretty good as long as you make a plan to arrive a wee bit early. The reason for 3 stars is that there is NO where to hide from the sun except a small overhang on the back wall. It would be awesome if at some point seating with umbrellas were put there. But once the sun sets, on a summer night the view is absolutely spectacular I am torn between the view of the Missouri River and city skyline and the concert. read more

Lewis and Clark Landing - Parks Near Me - Omaha, Nebraska

This is a concrete clearing by the Missouri River, with cool statues and information about that location. It's also a great place to host events. Large enough to host a carnival. It a too bad the river rises so high, even in summer, that the field by the parking area is what's used now. Those umbrellas in the concrete area would have been useful blocking the summer rain. HISTORIC MILESTONE My 1300 review needs to be historic so why not choose two guys who traveled along some uncharted lands. They were technically the first two Yelpers in America at the time. I wonder what their Elite events were like. Imagine these two guys traveling up stream in the terrifying wilderness and dealing with the natives, the elements and wild animals. Lewis and Clark were true pioneers as they charted a new land that no American had ever seen before. I'm sure that money was their motivation as the fur trade was a very lucrative business back then. If they had actually reviewed this place they might have given it 1 star back in the day including references like, "We almost died!" and "Not a fun winter destination!" I simply wonder what their reaction was to landing here. I also wonder how much upper body strength they possessed to paddle up stream. If I close my eyes I can hear Lewis say, "I'm going to pump you up!" Please don't quote me on that if you ever find yourself on the tv show Jeopardy. The water heading south was very fast as I observed on the day we visited. I saw a water tuber fall off and then he was whisked down the river as the boat pulling him tried to catch them. Personally I would have been a little scared if this was me in the water. This was a fun little stop as we were on a business trip. Sometimes you need to stop and see the sights because you never know if you are ever going to come back. This spot is probably cool when there's an event going on, but on a 100-degree holiday weekend day it was a barren stretch of shadeless concrete. I'm not sure if we were missing something, but there appeared to just be one metal plaque detailing a meeting between a Reuben Field and Clark. There are a ton of cool spots in Omaha - move this down the list unless there's something extra going on or it's a nice day for a walk next to the river. read more

I was expecting more from a national parks exhibit... This particular national park exhibit showcases the landing by Lewis and Clark in this area back in the early 1800s. Though the building that houses the exhibit is two stories - it is mostly government offices that serve most of the midwest. This was a bit disappointing as I was expecting much, much more. Nonetheless, there were a few decent displays, and there is a very good and very educational 30-minute video on the adventures Lewis and Clark experienced during their journey through the newly purchased Louisiana Territory. If you're expecting to spend the day seeing and learning, this is not the stop. But for a quick overview, it fits the bill. read more

We walked our little furry friend here when it is nice outside. They have big parking so it is easy to access. It is a pretty riverfront where you can enjoy some scenery and learn about history. It is pretty near the pedestrian bridge, make your running trail more exciting. A stunning place to visit when you are in Omaha. read more

This 23-acre landing is a very historical area of interest to those of us (history nerds) who get excited over visiting an area that was part of the original Lewis & Clark Expedition. Wikipedia says that "Lewis and Clark Landing is the original landing site of the 1804 Lewis and Clark Expedition. The Lewis and Clark Expedition took place from 1804 to 1806. The purpose of the expedition was to explore the land which the United States had purchased from France through the Louisiana Purchase in 1803." I recall studying the Expedition as a young student and was very inspired by the trip that helped to open up the west. Lewis and Clark were some of the first environmentalists. They were respectful of the native peoples and the land, as they trekked west. Even better, this locale was once a nasty and polluting refinery! Right along the Missouri River. Wikipedia said "Lewis and Clark Landing now sits on property formerly owned by ASARCO, which maintained a lead refinery there that closed in 1997." Eventually, the site was cleared and the area did win an award from the United States Environmental Protection Agency for restoration and remediation of what eventually turned into the Lewis and Clark Landing. As great as the history is here, what the Landing represents now is equally as good. It is something that attracts both visitors and locals alike. The Landing is well-maintained and safe. Omaha has done a fantastic job with opening up the Riverfront area with interpretive exhibits, memorials and picnic tables along the river. The Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge is close by and I also spied a pedestrian bridge to CenturyLink Center Omaha, which is where the concerts and sporting events are held. Just north of Lewis and Clark Landing along the trail is the new regional headquarters for the National Park Service and beautiful Heartland Park is nearby. I rented a Heartland-B bicycle when I came by in early April. But Lewis and Clark Landing and the National Park Service regional headquarters both have large parking lots on Riverfront Drive. The Lewis & Clark Landing is an excellent place to visit when in Omaha, as this Missouri River city marks the spot where on August 3, 1804, a very noteworthy meeting took place with local Oto and Missouri Indians. The pow-wow was the very first official meeting between people from the United States and members of a western Indian tribe. Six Otoe chiefs and their warriors, with a French interpreter, Mr. Faufong, arrived and on the morning of August 3, Lewis and Clark gave out peace medals to the Otoe and Missouri chiefs. I admire the respectful way Lewis & Clark went about their trek to the west. Their journey would continue northward towards South Dakota, and the rest, as they say, is history. 5 YELP STARS for that! read more

This interesting National Park facility has a small museum associated with the Lewis and Clark expedition. There is a video and you can walk around the river bank and enjoy the view. My daughter enjoys the Junior Ranger program and learned some things from our visit. We had a good time. The site does not take long to cover. read more

Lewis & Clark Landing is quite thought-provoking to think of these guys who traveled literally thousands of miles to make it across the country in a Time way before interstates. What they did and how they negotiated is a stunning story. The National Park Service has a display and a movie describing their travels their negotiations and some of the obstacles they overcame. What a wonderful and informative stop this was. read more
