I cannot recommend Dr. Lim highly enough!!! 17 thumbs up!!!…read more She is a miracle worker. I was the biggest scaredy cat about getting my cataract surgery done. I have been wearing glasses since the third grade and I am extremely near-sighted. One of my biggest fears is losing my sight. Dr. Lim made me feel extremely confident about getting the surgery. She explained the surgery in detail and she offered excellent advice about the right type of cataract lenses for me. The surgery itself was extremely quick and painless. I felt like I was at a Laserium show at a planetarium and not in an operating room. There are a number of follow-up appointments scheduled for the day and week after surgery. Both Dr. Chan and Dr. Zhang were caring, knowledgeable, and friendly at these follow-up appointments. The Walnut Creek office staff is also wonderful, friendly, and efficient. Being the nervous Nelly that I am, I did call them more than a few times with my worries. I am now seeing 20/15 out of my distance eye. I can read 4 point type out of my reading eye. I feel I should be on a lecture tour, wearing a Super Hero cape to match my new bionic eyes, touting the wonders of cataract surgery with Dr. Lim. The only regret I have is enduring blurry and dimming vision for a year because I put off my cataract surgery because I was so scared. If you need cataract surgery, make an appointment with Dr. Mira Lim!!! You will be so happy you did. It was the BEST DECISION I have ever made in my life.

She is a one in a million genius eye surgeon with a manner so unassuming and a hand that is so calm and self assured, you pray that she is there whenever you go under the knife. Period! Her specialty is corneal implants. She loves what she does and she loves to give the miracle of perfect sight to her patients. I'm 77 now and one day after the surgeries my eyes tested 20/20 & 20/24. Three year later they still test the same. I'm so grateful to her! It is not surprising to me that she worked with Dr Vastine, the Errol Flynn of eye surgeons. And she was referred to me by Dr Litwin, one of the best. Don't even think about it. Get on her waiting list today.

Our employee arrived for his scheduled appointment today, but his necessary translator did not arrive. When I called to resolve the issue and suggested reaching out to the insurance carrier to see if there was a coordination mix-up, the representative, Shana, became extremely aggressive and rude on the phone. Instead of providing the customer support we needed, she claimed there was no one available in the entire building who spoke Spanish. Throughout the call, she refused to let me get a word in. When I politely asked for her supervisor's name, she completely bypassed my question and hung up on me, refusing to provide any management contact information. I called back immediately and was connected with Brandy, who was very kind, professional, and helpful. She was able to provide the name of the supervisor, Denise Kurt. While I appreciate Brandy's excellent assistance in a stressful situation, the behavior exhibited by Shana is completely unacceptable for a professional medical office handling sensitive worker accounts. Management needs to address Shana's conduct and communication immediately

Unprofessional and Disrespectful of Patients' Time…read more My mother's appointment was scheduled for 1:20pm, yet we were kept waiting 51 minutes before being seen. There were no updates, no explanation, and no apology from the staff or the physician. When I mentioned--calmly--that my mother's time should be respected and that appointments should begin reasonably close to their scheduled time, Dr Gilbert replied: "Well, sometimes it works that way and sometimes it doesn't." That statement, paired with a complete lack of acknowledgment for the delay, was unacceptable. It reflected a dismissive attitude toward patient time and basic professionalism. I remained polite and civil throughout the interaction, but left with the impression that punctuality and patient communication are simply not valued here. If you expect respect, accountability, or even a simple apology for excessive wait times, I would advise seeking care elsewhere.

Then, when that office closed, I followed her to her new location at Walnut Creek Eye Care. And, should she ever leave, I would follow her again. Why? Because she is the best Optician I have ever experienced. She is quick to greet you with a smile. She will explain how your benefits will or will not work for you and how you can work within your budget. She is a fantastic listener and can guide you through the process of selecting the perfect color, shape and size glasses without being pushy, judgmental or snooty about your choice. In other words, Erica is a pro and a very easy person to work with.

She too is very knowledgeable when it comes to insurance to cover your glasses. I especially like that the staff goes above and beyond to make sure you understand any procedure or medication you need to have. I highly recommend Walnut Creek Eye Care!

Over my adult lifetime, I have had regular Optometrists and Ophthalmologist MD's examine my eyes and prescribe glasses. My best results have always been with a full medical doctor, the Ophthalmologist with a MD. Having my last generation of eye glasses prescribed by an optometrist and fulfilled at a large HMO in the East Bay, I was not satisfied and rarely used the glasses. I became concerned over the possible development of glaucoma or the possible need for cataract surgery. So I decided to get referrals from other physician friends in the Bay Area and I was directed to the Diablo Valley Eye Medical Center. Dr. Dowling's examination was careful, thoughtful, complete, and he listened to my questions and provided more knowledge for me. I thought his presence as an MD was outstanding and I have every confidence in his office. The staff was outstanding and they moved me along with excellence. When I had my prescription, I was able to select the new glasses and lens with the help of an on site staff that was most convenient. Ophthalmologist's do urgent surgeries for detached retinas. The sooner the surgery the better for the patient. So sometimes your Ophthalmologist can be rushed into surgery and miss your appointment. Having a best friend who became blind from this cause, here is a little more information about it from the Mayo Clinic website. "Retinal detachment itself is painless, but retinal detachment warning signs and symptoms almost always appear before it occurs or has advanced. Retinal detachment symptoms may include: "* The sudden appearance of many floaters -- small bits of debris in your field of vision that look like spots, hairs or strings and seem to float before your eyes * Sudden flashes of light in the affected eye * A shadow or curtain over a portion of your visual field that develops as the detachment progresses"

I really appreciated all the efforts put into making sure people admitted inside at least didn't show any COVID symptoms. They also put a limit to the number of people that could be in the waiting room at once. So if a patient had more than one visitor, one of them could go in there with the patient but the other visitor had to wait in the elevator lobby. And the elevator lobby was not very spacious and had no seat at all. Therefore, I do have a suggestion for improvement though.... since in the waiting room there were so many seats that were taped off to indicate that they were not to sit on, and it would've been great if they had moved some of those chairs to the elevator lobby so people could use them. Other than that, my experience there was pretty good.
