To be honest, when I first walked into her office, I was already looking for an excuse to cancel again. But once I spoke with her, I was really impressed with her knowledge and the way she explained everything, so I decided to keep my appointment. Today was my procedure at Silicon Valley Surgery Center, and I had such a great experience. The facility was clean, calm, and very nice. Every single person I interacted with was wonderful. From the front desk to Barbara, who helped review my paperwork everyone was kind and welcoming. My first nurse, Kay, was incredibly nice, knowledgeable, and professional. When she went on break, Nicole took over she was also amazing. I'm not a fan of needles at all, but she did my IV so gently and with so much care. Then Kat, the third nurse, took me to the procedure room she was kind, calm, and very professional. Dr. Michael Block, the anesthesiologist, was excellent. He actually texted me the night before to ask if I wanted to review everything ahead of time or on the day of the procedure, which I really appreciated. We exchanged a few messages, and then he spoke with me again before the procedure and explained everything clearly. He was confident, knowledgeable, and very reassuring. In the procedure room, I fell asleep within seconds and woke up quickly afterward feeling great. Within about 30 minutes, I felt completely fine. I was even able to take calls and respond to emails. And now, about Dr. Hobson ,she is truly a 10 out of 10. Honestly, the entire experience was 10 out of 10. From the office to the surgery center, every single nurse and staff member was exceptional. I'm a very detail-oriented and perfectionist person because of my job, so I don't say this lightly. Since transitioning to Dr. Shamala, my experience has been very disappointing. Appointments are booked several months out, which defeats the purpose of having a primary care provider. When you're sick, you need timely access--not a long wait that forces you to rely on urgent care visits, as I've had to do multiple times. When I asked about the delays, I was told there are simply too many patients. That response was concerning. It feels like the focus is on taking on more patients rather than properly caring for existing ones. During the one appointment I was able to get (scheduled three months in advance), I felt rushed, as if the priority was moving quickly to the next patient rather than providing thoughtful care. Maybe my previous doctor set a very high bar, but this experience has been frustrating and disappointing. Accessibility and patient relationship are fundamental to primary care, and unfortunately, that has not been my experience here.

When new or old symptoms pop up, she addresses them head on with a treatment plan. I originally saw her at her previous clinic but was seen recently in her "new" location. Instead, I received an impersonal, cold and sterile letter a few days later notifying me that I needed to find another doctor. I would not recommend this practice to anyone given the sloppy nature of my situation was managed- it's completely unacceptable.

She know my personal medical history and family history better than I do and she catches any problems before they get serious. I know two of her patients, my friends, got treated for cancer at early stages because Dr. Kwok knew something was not right and recommended them to go to the hospital for in-deep examinations. Also she would go above and beyond to provide the care for her patients. I was discharged from an acute hospital In early July 2025. I was too weak to make an office visit after the discharge. Dr. Kwok made 3 house calls in 5 days. I became very ill again on day 4. When she came to visit me on the 5th day , she called 911 and sent me to a different hospital which is better, but further from her office. She stayed in ER with me for 6 hours and visited me in the hospital daily for a week. Her dedication and professionalism truly saved my life. I am so lucky to have her as my doctor.
