    Bill's Direct Plumbing & Heating

If you knew anything about me you would know I worry about everything. So when I realized my 50yr…read moreold boiler had seen its last winter I didnt know where to turn, my oil guy suggested Bills direct, so I called. Bill and Alex came over looked at my boiler and said he could replace it, there was something comforting about how they talked to me. So we had them come put a boiler in and Lord thank God they did they were on time, professional, clean and fast! That was about 2yrs ago, since then Alex installed two new thermostats which we needed and did normal cleaning. Folks these are good people! they do a professional job and they take time to actually talk to you like a neighbor would! I had a few small concerns they were quick to address them and always professional! I highly recommend Bill's direct plumbing and heating, try them and see for yourselves!

Bill's son, Alex, left me without heat and hot water for four weeks, so I'd hardly call this…read moreresponsible. This company is new to me and I was told that a contract wasn't needed. I have a Navien combi boiler and the last heat technicians didn't provide good service. I reported no hot water on 9/23/25 & Alex returned my call late AM & said that he would try to stop by but called later in day to schedule an appt for 9/24/25. He worked on the boiler & identified a stripped & broken screw that previous service tech failed to remove & replace. He shut the heat off as he suspected that gas had been leaking through. He said he would order the gas valve outlet & asked me if I wanted him to check on the fan and clip and I said yes. Alex never said how long this would take. It's a big inconvenience to be without heat and hot water for 4 weels as well as unsafe with cold weather approaching. I called 9/29/25 & Alex said it would take 1- 1 1/2 week as the part is coming from New Jersey. As time went by I called on 10/16/25 & 10/17/25 & left voice messages w/ no reply. I called on 10/20/25 and spoke with Alex's mother & expressed concern that Alex wasn't keeping me informed of when this part is coming in & I suspected it was coming in from South Korea. She said that she would tell Alex to check on it and call me. On 10/23 Alex's mother called me & said that the part came In & could come to my home to fix the boiler. I was not happy but Alex came to my home that day and I could tell he was not prepared. Yes, he had the part, but he did not have the other parts that he knew he needed. He had to make a trip to Fall River to get the parts and also to a hardware store which added to the labor cost. His only concern was that he was the last person who had his hands on this boiler, and gave no apology to me having waited four weeks with no heat nor hot water. He said he was keeping track of the bill and emailed me a bill for $1385. & expected me to pay it that day. I told him that his father usually sends me a bill In the mail. He said things have changed and it's now COD. I reminded him that doesn't understand that I am the customer and I'm the one that's gone four weeks with no heat nor hot water and how upset I am.. He said that he told me it would take 2 weeks, which wasn't true; it was four weeks that I waited ! He emailed the $1385. bill to me & I hardly had time to fully examine it. I offered to pay 50% of the bill now and he just stared at me as if confused. He said it was COD and I detected an element of intimidation for which I would've gladly told him to leave my home. I wrote the check and handed to him. During the time he was repairing my boiler, at least twice he sarcastically said that I would be calling him in one week with the same complaint of no heat nor hot water and expecting him to repair my boiler when I actually need a new one. I found the comments to be intimidating. I called this company on 10/29/25 and left a voice message. They have never returned my call. My intent was to discuss the situation. Since they have never called I've left this review. I wouldn't ever use this company again. It's great when things are going well, but when there's a problem, it really matters how it's handled..

McIver Hvac - Inside refrigeration line run through the basement before it was covered by a soffit

I got quotes and presentations from 4 different vendors and the pitch and price was exactly the same - hour long presentation and a $30k cost. However, what each vendor tells you is that IF you qualify a $10k rebate is available and your net cost is $20k. Essentially the rebate is a scam - it just gives contractors the ability to inflate the prices and use the rebate to make the system sound cheaper than it really is. I finally met with McIver and he was able to simplify the entire process. He is not a Mass Save contractor. So he does not work the rebate, just offers a strait-up cost to install the system. When he gave me his quote, I quickly figured out that Dan McIver was an honest man and that the whole Mass Rebate program was a scam. His quote with the similar equipment and the same number of mini-splits was $13,500. I hired him for the job and they started within a week. One of my biggest concerns was esthetics - I was worried about too many refrigeration lines running around the outside of the house. Our house is a rental property in Cape Cod that had a lot of charm to it and we did not want to ruin the integrity of it. Dan came up with a brilliant solution and was able to run most of the lines through the basement to minimize the lines on the outside of the house - we were so pleased with this solution. His team did a fantastic job building out the system - they were clean and finished the project on the timeline he quoted. The work was high quality!! Net is that Dan took a very complicated buying process and made it simple and affordable. He is highly recommended for the quality of his work, pricing and his honest and straightforward approach!
