I understand if you're on the phone, and can't put the phone down to talk to me (common sense). A simple smile or hand gesture to say it will be a minute would suffice and go a long way. She was so young I just thought maybe growing pains? Maybe we needed to buy better shoes? Nowhere in my mind did I think something was really wrong. In the 4th grade we knew we needed to see someone and went to a Pediatrician in Bakersfield. Right away she saw there were multiple joints swollen and that we definitely had to get her to a specialist at Children Hospital Madera. Within a very short time they got us in and we were making the trip up to see Dr. Arce. From the moment we met him we felt at ease. He instantly started talking directly to our daughter, he was gentle, compassionate and really listened to everything she said. He saw pitting in her nails and multiple joints with redness and swelling. He ordered multiple test right away, and quickly she was diagnosed with Psoriatic arthritis and fibromyalgia. I would have never thought my 4th grade daughter would Have RA. This began our 8 year relationship with Dr. Arce. We made trips to Madera every couple months and we never complained. We all loved him and he helped her so much. I will never forget when he had the talk with us about finding a Rheumatologist in Bakersfield. She was going to be 18 and he is a Pediatrician. We all were so sad and I actually cried the last time we saw him. He helped my daughter so much. I know he is working out of a clinic in Reedly now, I think he still might see kids at Childrens. Just recently my daughter said she wanted to write him a letter, she is now 21. She wants to thank him for all he did for her. Unfortunately she never found a Doctor that measured up to Dr. Arce. We did see supposedly see the best in Bakersfield, he is in the room for a minute, you can't get an appointment and he doesn't listen to what you are saying. So Dr. Arce if you read this, you are amazing! We thank you for the incredible care you gave our daughter and we will never forget you.

I tried to make an appointment today. All of our records are in their computer, because they could tell me where I live, phone number, kids ages and names, etc. BUT since she hasn't been seen in 3 years, that's a new patient. Soonest appointments for new patients is February! Are you kidding me? If you actually cared about my child you wouldn't wait 5 months to see her and treat us like second class citizens. I'll never go back.

She said my only option to get my son a required vaccine that his old pediatrician didn't have in stock (less than a month ago at his six months appointment) would be to pay cash even though I have great PPO insurance, or wait till his next Well Child visit in several months! I can't afford to pay out of pocket, and it's unethical to make a child wait several months for a required vaccine just because you don't know how to bill a vaccine visit. My purpose in calling was to establish care but apparently they don't do appointments for that? Other offices do, and they also do vaccine only appointments (which isn't even what I wanted). Tina was very rude on the phone and made me feel like my child would not be treated with kindness nor would his health be prioritized over money at her office. Very unfortunate, because I heard good things about Dr. Gage himself.

My kiddos now see Dr. Shah and hands down he is kind, always answers my question with a tone of concern. As a mom this type of care makes a difference because we are always trying to be prepared and on top of things with our kiddos.
