A few years ago I walked in a BB store to buy my other son a few suits to interview in because first impressions matter. I walked around and was finally greeted by a smirking jerk. His direct words were, "That's too nice a suit to wear to court. ". I looked at him and asked him to beg my pardon, Will you repeat that? This jerk asked me if I thought their prices were the same as JCP? I was speechless. I was not feeling well and tears rolled down my face. Not because of his I insults but it was just the acknowledgment of how hard it is to be treated right by people like him. I just didn't have it in me to even ask for the manger. I wasted time telling him my son would be going to court but not as a defendant. He would be the arresting officer. That I had been out looking for a lost foster dog the reason I looked so casual but I assured him I could pay whatever their prices were. I wanted to put my previous encounter behind me and see if that jerk was still there. Unfortunately, Jos A. Banks is where a dear friend of mine buys his clothes and I heard his reminder in my head as I stood at the door with my hand reaching out to the door. Nope, I won't darken the doorway because I'm sure they knew what an ahole that guy was from previous complaints. I turned on my heels and seemed to buy a That graduation suit elsewhere.

Update 4/1/14 I have not been able to wear the three slacks I purchased & had tailored here…read morebecause the belt loop for the slacks are too narrow for any belt. Brought them back to see if there was any way I adjust the belt loop & I was told to get a smaller belt. No other offer to help in any way was extended. Reason I got the boys size is because I don't fit into the men's size for #BrooksBrothers so the sales consultant was kind enough to find slacks from the boys department for me. I thought they would help somehow with a goodwill gesture if I bought additional slacks to replace these but I think I have too high expectations for this place. Good news though - some homeless chap in Birmingham, AL will be strutting some decent slacks around town.

They are so hit or miss, you can come numerous times and not find anything remotely close to something you would care to have - then boom, the next time you come they have so much you have to pick and choose. This location in general is as good as any other location. Supply is pretty good, they ramp up at the beginning of a clothing season and tend to get light on supply as it gets deeper into the season to clear out space for the next line that is coming in. Also, not a bad place to look for home stuff - they can actually be a little surprising at what they have to offer. Staff here are friendly when engaged and typically keep to themselves if they aren't needed for something. Would shop here if I was in the area.

As for the women's clothing, I do think their target audience is either juniors (14-16 years old) and seniors (over 65). I never seem to really find any clothes I like here. Since JCpenney has a huge junior's section, I knew I could find it here. I ended up purchasing a choker/necklace set here for $24. I do think they spike the price of their items up front. I know just by looking at that price, I wasn't going to be paying that, and luckily it did turn out to be 50% off. So deals are expected here. After checking out the Riverchase Galleria, I decided I was going to stop at JC Penney first! Since they appear to be one of the anchor stores, I was dropped off there by my Uber driver and walked in. The familiar feel of a JCP came back to me quickly and I walked through their large store to check out their merchandise. JCP, in my opinion, always had a great selection of quality clothing items at very good prices. Their sales were also really good, from what I last remembered. As I checked out their self-help shoe section, I noticed they had several nice pair marked down, 50 percent off! What a deal! These were for shoes that would have costed me an arm, a leg and a foot back in Hawaii! It was less than the price of an arm here! The sales here were pretty darn good, and I noticed a bunch of anxious customers standing around the sales counters, asking for "coupons." I found out they had a sale going where Sales Associates were handing out additional $10 off coupons to customers, and some of these customers were down right rude! But I also noticed how the Sales Associates were all friendly and patient with them as they dealt with their demands! After checking out their souvenir section, most of the Alabama products were on sale and with the additional discounts, worth every penney! Get it?! I opened another JCP credit card account and was given an additional 15 percent off all day shopping spree for doing that, plus, was able to get deferred billing (no interest if paid in full within a year) because I went off! Not attitude wise, but shopping-wise! An overall pleasant shopping experience here! I was really tempted to get the cat statue! I may go back for it since I can't stop thinking about it.
