The staff and coaches are great (shout out to coach Amanda who does the morning classes; she has an awesome music selection). The coaches really push you to do your best and get those splat points! The front staff are super accommodating/friendly and will help you with whatever you need (had trouble linking my accounts in the beginning and they were helpful). The location is also brand new and spotless. The rowers aren't updated with touch screens yet but hopefully will come soon. They do have the elliptical and bike for those who need that option. They have started challenges like marathon month which is a really fun way to keep yourself accountable. No fun calendar's or theme days yet but hoping they will start. Pro's: they do temperature checks, have you wipe off each machine after use, mandatory masks (no face shields), and enforce social distancing by having us use every other machine. Also, there are many class times to choose from. Did I mention free and abundant parking?! End point: you like to work out, GO NOW! You will not regret it. Don't like to work out? GO NOW! It will change your mind set.

Planet fitness should have more respect with the members that pay their membership. The gym is crowded even during off hours by teens who talk and use their phones more than they work out.

Never mind the free summer for teenagers. Planet Fitness doesn't care about paying members. Gym is crowded enough and they took out the whole row of treadmills. Less machines all over. Then allow people to hangout on machines like a social club. Bathrooms are like High School Hangouts.

It was a sad and melancholic end for a gym that had been declining over the past few years and won't be missed.

The music is so loud that you can't think straight. I was told just to go upstairs. Most of the staff is rude and complacent. And the bathroom light still doesn't work. The gym is on the second floor. Entrance is the door with a sign Optum above it. Gym: the gym was huge, equip with proper and functional gym equipments. You can see it is well maintained and everything seems to be cleaned regularly. There are lockers and showers too. And recovery room as well where you can use massage chairs, normatec leg compressions. Classes: well it was my first time and I felt amazing afterwards. They have 6 stations that you follow and each stations has different equipments and things to follow. There is a screen that shows you the training and rep to follow. Employees: Jon was amazing as a trainer/coach. He helped me all through out. Sasha the front desk is so kind. And lastly Bommer the dog is the star of the gym! Definitely will recommend this if HIT training gym in Bayonne. Will come back if I'm in the area.

I have recently joined Retro Fitness Bayonne with the Ultimate membership and I am overall…read moresatisfied with the Bayonne location. However, my experience with the Jersey City/Twin City location hasn't been very pleasant. First, let's go with the pros. Staff, similar to the Bayonne location, is friendly. Also, there's free parking since this gym is located near other stores and there's a big parking lot so even during peak hours you can find parking. The gym isn't big but it has decent equipment and the percentage of broken machines is small which is good. It does get crowded after 5pm but that's the case with the gyms in the area. Gym is clean, including the bathrooms which is good. The annoyance of people leaving stuff in the lockers without a pad lock is present so if you go during busy hours get ready to open at least 10 lockers until you find an empty one. Once again, this is a problem at other locations, I hope there was someone to check this and enforce the rules so that people can start locking their stuff. Now the cons. I live 2 blocks away from a Planet Fitness location but the main reason I joined Retro Fitness is because of the group classes. My wife takes Zumba and Body Combat and I take Spin classes. The Twin City location only offers Spin classes 3 days a week at 6pm and if the instructor is off by any chance there is no coverage. I took a Spin class for the first time yesterday and although the instructor was friendly, the class was very bad. It wasn't a true spin class. Lots of push ups on the handlebar and the exercises were all over the place. The worst thing in my opinion was when everyone was supposed to pedal backwards. I'm a experienced cyclist and I've been taking hundreds of Spin classes for the past 20 years and I've never seen such a thing. Pedal backwards? Also, this location doesn't update the website/app so according to their site there are Spin classes 6 days a week including Friday and Saturday which isn't true. Also, there are no Zumba classes on Saturdays although they are listed on their website. I'm disappointed because that was one of the reasons I joined Retro Fitness. If you want to know the correct schedule you need to call them every day or go there in person and check the board they have near the front desk. For now I will stick with the Bayonne location. If the twin city location find better instructors or adds more Spin classes I will update my review.

Spray and paper towels are easy to find for the most part. Its a bit on the small side so when its busy you may have to wait a while for a machine. Atmosphere is ok, not full of meatheads. Plenty of parking and hours are convenient.

Located on Broadway, which is a super busy street, and all metered parking so make sure you come early to find a spot. Walking in for the first time was really intimating but everyone was very nice and welcoming. I explained it was my first time and they showed me the ropes and encouraged me to do better. I've taken classes with Juliana, Mallory and Marion and BOY, they were tough! I've never been more sore than after a class here, it definitely makes you work for sure. There are classes throughout the day, starting at 530A through the evening, which is beneficially for working people. Definitely worth the experience, will come back for more classes soon!

There is no…read morejudgement there , everyone helps each other and supports each other to get to the goals they are working hard towards . I had to take a break from working out for a few years due to medical issues . When i went back I spoke to the trainers and with tears in my eyes I asked them to help me remember the Renee that I was once was and become again . The trainers hugged me and said we are in it together. With each class I get more of my confidence and strength back. CKO has helped me mentally , physically and emotionally and I am getting back to the real me and I love being me again . For those reading this we are all in it together , we all have struggles we are over coming and together we will do it . We are more than members , we are family . I have a long journey still but I'm so grateful I'm doing it here at CKO
