This is the best car experience I've had. They didn't try to sell me a whole bunch of things I don't need, didn't talk to me like I was a stupid girl, and explained all my questions without judgement. As a single woman this was a nice change from past car repair shops. Pricing is also reasonable and they explain all the charges so there is no hidden service fees or anything. Highly recommend. read more

This place is faul when it comes to they're work. Fred the guy that works here made a deal on changing my control arms back to the original ones. I dropped the car off on SAT & SUN, the 26th and 27th to get the job done and turns out that when I arrived today to bring it back home, my car was to lowered to the ground. I was confused because my car wasn't like that .. I don't know if they didn't put my original shocks back on or cut it but my car is not positioned in the right height !!!! Then he said that it's all there , and I have a bad shock or spring. I never had a problem wit that. All he was going to do is change the control arms.. but he said he didn't do nothin. If u look at the picture the difference is there from it being at my house during the day, to me getting there at 7:00pm and it being way out of order on the wheels scrapping too low against the fender , and then says lift up the Jack. This is bs. Now it's to the point that he don't want to take responsibility so it's a report wit the police now.. I DONT RECOMMEND BRINGING UR PROJECT MUSTSNG OR CAMAROS HERE. They might be doing stuff u don't know .. report this incident tomorow. read more

Dennis & Justin are amazing! I brought my Ford Escape in to get the A/C inspected and to track down an oil leak. They were able to quickly diagnose the issue with the A/C and the source of my oil leak, provide an upfront estimate, and repair it in no time at all. Dennis even removed a nail he found in my tire free of charge. I'll definitely be coming back instead of going to the dealer! read more

Dennis M (the new owner) was great. Great communication ahead of time and on the timing of the work. Finished on time. Fair price. Highly recommended. Its hard to find a good mechanic, and I think I have found one in Dennis. read more

The whole repair process was incredibly quick and easy. Initially I went to a couple other repair shops and their quotes were higher and repair timelines were a lot longer. Dennis did a quick inspection and helped me deal with insurance and rental. More impressively, when parts came in a day later than expected, he was quick to communicate and even offered to help me with Lyft that day! Overall, very professional, communicative and easy to work with. Highly recommend! read more

The team goes above & beyond, they do quality work at fair prices. Highly recommend for any service or repair.

I needed a last minute oil change before a road trip. Dennis was able to squeeze me in last minute and I was in and out in less than 1hr. I'm completely satisfied with his professionalism and level of detail. He wasn't pushy but informative with ways that I could keep my car serviced in the future. I'd highly recommend this shop for all your auto needs. read more

Griffin's Auto has a new owner! I've been going to see Dennis at Griffin's for over six years now. I've always preferred to spend my money at private, family-owned businesses whenever I can and car repair/maintenance is no different. When I realized Griffin's was being taken over by a new Dennis (old owner and new owner are both named Dennis), I worried I wouldn't get the same great service, but so far I am very pleased. My oil change, 30-point inspection, and tire rotation were finished quickly and I paid a reasonable price. I will miss chatting with my old friend, Dennis Griffin but I'm excited for my new friend, Dennis to start his business in MV. Especially for those in the Old Middlefield and Monta Loma neighborhoods, the convenience & quality doesn't get much better than Griffin's! read more

The repairs done to my car provided a serious performance change. The turbo is kicking in sooner, and it's accelerating much quicker from a stop, and at freeway speeds. A lot more power. So overall my car is driving like new! Plus the customer service was top notch! Dennis, my mechanic, was very knowledgeable, and extremely efficient. He kept me informed, and delivered results and completed my repairs quickly. I have definitely found a trusted shop for my car and will be using them for all my future automotive repair needs. I'd highly recommend this shop to anyone, who wants trusted prices, and top notch service. read more

Dennis M. is the man! When it comes to mechanics you want honesty, and that is exactly what you will get. He worked on my car over the holidays when I was out of the country, and he let me keep it there until I got back. I've been going to him for years and is the only person I trust to work on my cars. Go to Griffin's for all your auto repair needs! read more

I call my Prius "Lil' E" (as in The Little Engine That Could) because I put the poor thing through rough conditions -- think streams and OHV fire lanes up mountains. That's why I'm really thankful to have Dennis Muaka (new owner) take good care of my car and ensure that it can chug along soundly for my weekend adventures. Dennis is knowledgeable, meticulous, efficient, and adept in his craft; he provides friendly and professional customer service; and he's an all-around stand-up person. I highly recommend Dennis and his shop! read more

My car had some engine problems that made it shake when driving. I took my car to Dennis Muaka and he was able to fix it within a day at a very reasonable price compared to past quotes. For me, service is about quality, efficiency & honesty. I got all 3 here. Thanks Dennis! read more

I've known Dennis for many years. He is an excellent technician and a stand up guy. He's one of the few people I would trust with my vehicle aside from myself. If I still lived in the area this would be my go to shop. Dennis is honest, hardworking and extremely knowledgeable about cars. read more

Dennis was amazing! He helped me get a quote very quickly. He ordered the part and it arrived next business day. Super fast and courteous service, prices are very reasonable. Will be back. read more

Good work thank you. Oil leak diagnosis and repair for my car. Griffin was easy to communicate with

Took my 2010 Sienna XLE for an inspection before our road trip tomorrow. Dennis the owner immediately informed me that my tires were in no condition for my road trip. He took care of that for me so that I could worry about my job. Upon rotating the tires he let me know that the rear brakes were at the minimum and needed replacement. He was clear and informed me what needed to be done to insure a safe vehicle. Thank you for tour professionalism and attention to detail. read more

Dropped my 2012 Rav4 to get new brakes and an oil change and my car was finished earlier than expected. The new owner Dennis Muaka was honest and super helpful. I've been searching for a legit spot and I found it. I would highly recommend. read more

This is my new GO-TO place for general car care. They have a new owner, Dennis Muaka who I had the pleasure of meeting. The guy was legit and I had to write him a review. If you want a fair estimate and great work done in a timely manor and you're around Mountain View, I'd go here. read more

Friendly and Honest Service I'm new to the bay area and have a new job which takes me from SJ to Palo Alto. I freaked when my car stalled on Central Expsy last week and relied on my smartphone to find the nearest auto service shop. Thankfully, I found Griffin's Auto Repair. Dennis not only looked at my car first thing, but he drove me to and from my workplace. Small town-style care combined with Dennis' years of experience in automotive repair sets Griffin's apart. read more

I would highly recommend Griffin's Auto Repair. Dennis Muaka has worked on my 2005 beetle numerous times. He is extremely professional, very knowledgeable, honest, and quick! The value of his services are much better than other mechanics I have been to. He stands behind his work and won't try to oversell you on unnecessary add-ons. The most recent time Dennis worked on my car, it had been randomly misfiring and wouldn't start. I had scoped out other quotes because Mountain View is a bit far for me. The other quotes all listed tons of labor and parts that needed to be replaced. The total cost would have been more than my car was worth so I had my car towed accosts the Bay for Dennis to work on it. His diagnosis for the problem was much more precise and saved me a lot of money! Since then, my car has been running great and I haven't had any issues! read more

I heard an unfamiliar sound coming from what I thought was my tires, but I couldn't see anything so I called Dennis. He had me stop by, quickly ascertained that my brakes were going out on me. Having a seizure? I don't know the mechanical terms. He insisted I leave my car, called a rental car agency, and squeezed my repair into his busy schedule the next day. Dennis is experienced, fair, and completely trustworthy. I feel safer just having him there to take care of my car -- and me of course when it comes to driving safely. I've gone to Dennis for over 20 years with repeated outstanding service. read more

We've been taking our Prius and our Beetle to Dennis for regular service. Not having had any huge problems to resolve I can't provide a lot of info on such cases, however, Dennis has been friendly and professional, accommodating to our schedule, and reasonably priced compared to the dealership! There are lots of reviews being filtered, and ALL OF THEM are 5-star reviews. Take the time to click on "20 filtered" (or however many) underneath the bottom review. The link is gray and hard to spot. Yelp's filtering engine is obviously broken, filtering valid reviews as bogus. This is a serious problem hurting small businesses, this is not the only business I know that's affected by this! Bonus: Bajis' Down the Street Cafe is right on the corner, do an early bird drop off and grab an inexpensive and excellent breakfast! read more

Dennis Muaka completed the work on my car quickly and handled himself professionally. Griffin's auto repair offered a great customer experience that I highly recommend. You won't regret coming here! read more

I called griffin to get an estimate for some suspension work. The price sounded fair and I decided to schedule an appointment. I drop it off in the morning and get a call a ahead of schedule that it was ready. I wasn't expecting such quick turn around. I was caught a little of guard when he offered a wheel alignment since I knew it was needed after. I was already planing on bringing it to wheel shop in San Jose after but was reassured they can get it done. Only a handful of shops can do the wheel alignment on my car because of my large 24" wheels. Thank you for all your work. I will be back soon for service. read more

Absolutely amazing experience here at Griffin's Auto Repair. From the phone call to the receipt, Dennis was fantastic. He displayed unrivaled customer service and adept execution while performing an oil change and tire rotation on my 2016 GMC Terrain. Dennis is very friendly and informative, someone that I trust to work on my vehicle for years to come. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. Thank you so much Dennis! read more

Great communication via email and phone. Fair price, and gave me 3-year warranty on parts and labor. Work was done on time (hours before schedule). The location was easy to get to. As far as Dennis is there, I will come back to him when I need my car serviced. read more

New owner Dennis Muaka is terrific! He's friendly and very patient while I ask him a million questions. He's also good at explaining things - much better than the previous owner, to be honest. And best of all, his prices are reasonable and he won't sell you something you don't need. It's a great thing when you find an auto mechanic you can trust, and I totally trust Dennis with my car. In fact, I wouldn't take it anywhere else. read more

First repair was honest and friendly, came fairly priced (c. $2K for new coolant system). However a second engine fault developed after another 1000 miles and was a write off and it took a week for them to examine it at a cost of $250. Despite the previous repair and week long wait I was pressured to dispose of the car ASAP because of a parking situation. YMMV. read more

Dennis and Rob have been taking care of my cars (sequentially) for over 20 years. They are professional, friendly, and over the top honest. I feel confident when they tell me about preventative care, and they don't suggest maintenance that is premature. Since cars are strictly transportation for me, and I don't understand, or want to understand, the mechanics of my vehicles I appreciate working with people I can trust. A also appreciate having cars that are well maintained and reliable. Judy O. Sunnyvale, CA read more

The performance on an '83 GMC Van was bad after a smog repair at another station (a bad experience that I will not discuss here). After being refused by three alternate stations because they had fears / lack of experience with carbs and a fourth that spent too much time dwelling on the problem before even looking at the van, I finally found Griffin's - that's been around longer than any of them put together. Dennis found the problem; it was a major repair - and the van runs smoother now than I can recall. He educated me on what had happened (and what is happening in the CA smog repair industry) and he promised me that he would stand by me as an expert, independent witness even if I go to court with that other station. Thanks, Dennis! That's another problem solved! (P.S. Thanks for topping off my wiper fluid - I know that I didn't do that!) read more

Having to take your car in for repairs is never fun and can be a bit daunting if you don't know much about cars, but Dennis was very courteous and understanding while explaining the issue and he made the whole experience quick and painless. It is sad that after one year working with Dennis 9and being his first YELP reviewer), I have to change my 5 stars to a 1 star. Last year (7/09) I was thrilled when Dennis 'fixed' my electrical problem. However, now that it is 7/10, I have had nothing but regret from bringing my car to Griffin. I brought in for the same reoccurring electrical problem but this time it was worse. I checked all of my fuses just like he had told me to do and never found a blown fuse. Since I live over 1 hour away, I asked Dennis if he would please look at my car while I waited at the corner cafe for a couple hours. He refused and said I would have to leave it with him for 1-2 days. So I rented a car for $100 for two days, only to have him call me and say that it was a blown fuse. So, OK shame on me I thought for not seeing the blown fuse and paid him $89. Just after I left, the fuse blew again, so I called Dennis right away. He just said that I had to change my own fuse and document everything I had done in the car until I could find out what was making my fuse blow. He never even offered to fix the problem or have me come back to the shop! To add insult to injury, he never opened the electrical panel to take a look at the broken wires that my new mechanic was able to find in less than an hour. I am not sure what happened to Dennis over the past year but his pride in workman ship and customer service has really gone downhill. For these reasons, I can no longer recommend Griffin for your electrical car issues. Instead go to Nick's in San Leandro. read more
