Well, now I have even more to talk about since my last review! As some backstory, I looked for the right used Honda Fit for almost a year before I bought mine in late 2020 because I had very specific criteria: I wanted one that had been treated well by its previous owner, I wanted a specific trim level, I would only buy the car if the deal was right, but most limiting of all I wanted a specific ridiculous uncommon factory color - one called 'Mystic Yellow Pearl', a three-stage yellow with a pearlescent green finish, reminiscent of a perfectly ripe avocado. After a long search I found my baby, named her Dill [Dill Avocardo for long], and quickly got very attached; so attached, in fact, that I had Dennis and his crew do full front paint protection film. Sure, it's overkill for an economy commuter, but one of the things I love about the car is the color and I want to keep driving her for a long long time, so why not keep the paint in good shape? Late last year my hideous little car suddenly became famous, pictures of her rear splashed in news stories all over the world. Dill was parked at the local stables where I ride horses when someone made, uh, some choices, and they smashed multiple cars.. Including mine. She was punted from behind and sailed over a curb through a hedge, coming to rest partway down an embankment. I was, understandably, concerned about how she'd fared. What if they totaled her? I discussed it with my husband and we quickly decided that should she meet our standards [intact powertrain and frame], even if insurance decided her days were done we would keep and fix her anyway - we could handle the dark mark of a salvage title as we know she'd still be a good car. The idea of going through the car shopping process again - especially with the market as it is - was too exhausting. Her powertrain and frame were thankfully intact - and to my surprise so was the suspension - but as is probably less surprising the damage was still fairly extensive. She needed a rear hatch and rear bumper including painting and blending, rear lights, belly tray, exhaust, radiator support, front grill, front plate mount, and an alignment. But the good news: she squeaked in under the amount of repairs that would have totaled her. And.. Notice how she didn't need a front bumper or a hood, or even paint work in the front? If it weren't for the PPF, getting flung fifteen feet through the bushes probably WOULD have resulted in enough damage to the labor-intensive three-stage front-end paint that she would've been totaled. But thanks to the PPF, she lives on with her clean title intact. Dennis handled the mechanical work and coordinating with the body shop he recommended to get her fixed - I now work in public transit and thus couldn't do the repairs in my own shop, so he's the first one I thought of when I was figuring out who I could trust to take care of her. He kept me updated, gave me the alignment specs before and after so I know her suspension truly is sound, and even coordinated an after-hours lockout pickup to make life easier for me instead of needing to battle traffic to be reunited. She's back home, scooting around the Bay again. And we were so happy with how everything worked out, we even had them PPF the roof too: there's no doubt in my mind she's worth what we paid for a little more protection. If you're on the fence about getting PPF and you know you want to keep your car long-term, I definitely recommend it even more than I would have a few months ago. You never know: it could make all the difference. read more

I was very happy with most of the process. Scheduling went well, I didn't see any expensive marble waiting rooms with tie-clad service advisors to jack up the price, and they were careful to document the things they recommended with pictures and get my approval in advance. I was in for a routine servcie and their inspection process seems to be quite good. They completed the work quickly and the price wasn't cheap, but nor was it over the top. I would give them 5 stars except for one thing: they hounded me for reviews like crazy, including texting me several days, including Sunday at 8am (zzzz). I'm sure it is an automated system, but they need to turn down the volume on it. Note: I was going to "Griffin Auto Works", but I think they are changing names to "Level Up Auto Styling". If you don't mind the hounding, it's a good shop. read more

Omg, I thought I had already reviewed this auto repair shop and just need to update, but nope! The people who work at Griffin's Auto Repair / Level Up Auto Styling REALLY know what they're doing! It starts with the owner Dennis. He will literally run you through what your car's problem could be, always gives a fair estimate, never overcharges, and will do a great job fixing whatever it is you need. I've been coming in for oil changes and other maintenance, but also having several things fixed. Always reliable, fair priced, great work! That also goes for two of his guys working for him that I met named Justin and Patrick. Everyone is very friendly and all their work meticulous. Now, I live in LA and can't see my mechanic anymore. :((( I told him over the phone what my dire situation was yesterday (my 2005 Toyota Corolla wouldn't start anymore and the alarm kept going off, so I had to have it towed to my home). Dennis told me to disconnect the battery for a while (I left it like that overnight) and was spot on with his further diagnosis, so I knew what to expect. Since I live across the street from a Toyota dealership now, I walked there in the AM. To start, they wanted to charge me $180/hr for diagnosis even though I already knew what was wrong. Anyways, they gotta do their job. That price however was too much, so I had my car towed to my new shop here. Within a few hours they called me to let me know, the car is ready to go. They confirmed what Dennis suspected and gave me my car back at ZERO charge! Glad I made their day with some good Cuban bakery goods, Gatorade, and well deserved after work Modelos. Great experience. Griffin's did a great job. I recently upgraded my entire brake system (BBK). The task ended up requiring a bit of fabrication, but the guys at Griffin's had no trouble with it. They called me to let me know and asked for my input, I appreciated that. The brakes turned out fantastic. No squeaks, no shakes, and much improved stopping power. First off, this place got a new owner in 2019, so half the reviews don't apply anymore. That said, I've only dealt with the new owner (and partner -- there seem to be two main guys) and am impressed so far. The long story: I came in to fix a clicking noise upon acceleration that's common to Nissans. There's a TSB about it that involves greasing up some stuff, so I asked them to do it, which cured 80% of the problem. Months later, it seemed to be slipping, plus I decided I wanted it 100% cured anyway, so I asked if they'd try again, only this time with the exact brand of grease recommended in the TSB. They did, yet somehow the noise got worse! At this point, his theory was that it's a brake-related problem, so he kept it one more day, replaced a part (no charge), and VOILA, the noise has been extinct ever since. The progression of events made zero sense to me, but that's less important than the fact that these guys nailed the problem and seem to have a stellar work ethic. They also charged a reasonable fee and are pleasant to talk to. read more

One of the greatest experience with a mechanic Let me explain. I have a car that is infamous for having transmission issues. During its time under warranty, they would only every replace the part. Over the years, its is now to the point where the car cost more to fix than its worth. I'm not originally from this area and often fear being overcharged for repairs on my car. When I came here, the owner was super helpful the entire process. When the car was first diagnosed, it was determined to be one of two things. When the first option did not work out and it was determined I would need a new transmission, he did not charge me for the additional work and included the cost in the overall work. Additionally, because my car would be in the shop for a few days, he was able to get me a rental. Throughout the entire process, he was super communicative and prepared different options for replacing the transmission (the other mechanics just 'fixed' it and gave it back). When my car was ready, they even showed me my old transmission and showed me what had gone wrong, explaining the process and the part that had malfunction. They even change my oil for free!
