DO NOT USE THIS SCHOOL. Our son took their course during COVID when they were only offering online…read moreand in-car training. He wrote the final exam and completed the in-car training and we thought that everything was great. He now has his G2, but when we asked the school for the certificate to apply against our insurance we were told that he failed to complete 2 1/2 hours of online homework and so couldn't get a certificate because his allotted time to complete the course had expired. While some of the responsibility lies with our son for failing to finish the homework, COVID was a unique time and businesses were expected to adapt their processes, especially when dealing with 16-18 year old teenagers, to ensure that nothing fell through the cracks. The school should have been monitoring the progress of their students and sending out notifications or reminders when training was not complete, which they didn't. Norham, who initially took our call, told us that several families were in the same situation, so obviously there was an issue with their website instructions and it wasn't just our son. We were advised to call the MoT to get a letter of extension but when we called we were told that there was no such thing and that the onus was on the school . When we called back and asked to speak with a Supervisor at the school, Norham told us that there was no need as she would tell us the exact same thing. We had to argue for 10 minutes just to get her supervisor's name, only to find out that she was off sick and that the Owner was unavailable to take a call. Terrible customer service! Hannah, the supervisor, eventually got back to us after 2 weeks of repeated calls but the most they would offer was to allow him to retake the course at a discounted rate of $600. They took absolutely zero responsibility!! So after spending over $800 he has to take the training all over again, but this time it will be with a reputable company!!

The education course was not very helpful, the instructor who happened to be the manager of the…read morewhole driving school spoke about his life rather than teaching the rules and regulations behind driving. Whenever we'd come close to learning about driving all he would show us were driving videos you could find on youtube. 80% of class was based on his life stories, I know more about his life than I do about driving. He also made uncomfortable sexual comments and would make me and the only other female in the class extremely uncomfortable. When it came to the driving portion of my BDE course, my instructor Aswan was extremely unprofessional. She would always scream at me and hurt me twice when she'd aggressively take the wheel while I was driving. She barely spent time teaching me how to park and the ins and outs of how to use a vehicle. She made me cry twice because of how she'd treat me, sometimes mimicking me and yelling at me because she kept forgetting I was a g1 student training for my g2 instead of training for my G. She would always taunt me and question me and would admit its because she had a long day. She would forget when we would schedule appointments and blame it on me for making the dates up, she also slept in once and forgot to show up. I passed and got my G2 but that's because I did a lot of self-teaching and relied on a parent to take me around. I wouldn't say avoid this driving school but definitely avoid my instructor. The teacher, I won't name him because he is a genuine guy, but he's on the verge of retirement and it shows in his teaching methods, he is not fit to teach a class and its not his main position, he just subbed in for someone who went on vacation last minute. I think it would be a good school just not a great experience I had.

There are 'breaks' in the course that don't let you progress for 3 minutes. Makes sense, you should take a break after a certain amount of time. But instead of being on a timer, they're built into the course. On multiple occasions I logged in and the first thing I was told to do was take a 3 minute break. The answers for the assessments are sometimes blatantly wrong, and some of the 'sub-habits' that the course revolves around are just synonyms for each other, making it quite difficult to actually learn anything. The course is built around timers, to prevent you from skipping through the whole course without actually reading anything, but I will have read the content and there will still be a minute left on the timer, completely wasting my time. Some of the content and questions/answers have grammatical mistakes and look like they've been written quickly and never reviewed. Also, their course is supposed to take 30 hours, but my estimate is that it takes 40-50 hours. During the course I spent two hours with the progress bar reading 49%, not moving up at all. I have a feeling there are many more things I didn't mention. TLDR : Their online course is terrible, useless, and a waste of time and money. I can't believe a large and well established/reputed company would dare to charge hundreds of dollars for a course like this.

They are accepting more students than they can handle and are unable to provide any flexibility when scheduling driving lessons. He was not greatly suited to me as for I get upset easily and he would not help with the nerves I had. I switched instructors (which ended up being the best decision!). The instructor that I had for the last 4 lessons was great. He made driving so much less stressful by chatting and really getting to know me as a person and driver. He was such a great instructor, knows his stuff, wouldn't ever get upset and gave great tips for my G2 test. Shoutout Tibor!

Here is where DTSM absolutely failed my child: 1) did not teach them what a "blind spot" is ("shoulder check" without telling you why/where you are to look is completely useless and dangerous); 2) Did not teach u-turn (when questioned about this, the school admin said "I personally think they should be illegal"); 3) Did not take them driving at night; 3) Did not teach parallel parking (only to park behind a car - when questioned the driving instructor told my child - "there's plenty of parking in Ottawa - no need to parallel park"); 4) Did not allow my child to wear sunglasses to the point where I needed to insist/retrain this behaviour because it is a safety issue when you are blinded by the sun (obviously!); 5) Did not take them on the highway. Beyond this, parking was only practiced/taught the first lesson and reviewed at the last lesson, and my child was taught to drive under the speed limit by 5-10km/hr. All of this to say, I will not be taking my youngest child to this school when it is her turn to learn and would discourage others from choosing this driving school.
