My first lesson was meh, my instructor was difficult to understand and would get slightly agitated with me. He was not greatly suited to me as for I get upset easily and he would not help with the nerves I had. I switched instructors (which ended up being the best decision!). The instructor that I had for the last 4 lessons was great. He made driving so much less stressful by chatting and really getting to know me as a person and driver. He was such a great instructor, knows his stuff, wouldn't ever get upset and gave great tips for my G2 test. Shoutout Tibor! read more

Waited a few months before writing this as I did not want to post reactively. Comparing this to Young Driver's (where my eldest took lessons) it could not have been more different. Here is where DTSM absolutely failed my child: 1) did not teach them what a "blind spot" is ("shoulder check" without telling you why/where you are to look is completely useless and dangerous); 2) Did not teach u-turn (when questioned about this, the school admin said "I personally think they should be illegal"); 3) Did not take them driving at night; 3) Did not teach parallel parking (only to park behind a car - when questioned the driving instructor told my child - "there's plenty of parking in Ottawa - no need to parallel park"); 4) Did not allow my child to wear sunglasses to the point where I needed to insist/retrain this behaviour because it is a safety issue when you are blinded by the sun (obviously!); 5) Did not take them on the highway. Beyond this, parking was only practiced/taught the first lesson and reviewed at the last lesson, and my child was taught to drive under the speed limit by 5-10km/hr. All of this to say, I will not be taking my youngest child to this school when it is her turn to learn and would discourage others from choosing this driving school. read more

This wasn't the greatest experience. At my first lesson the instructor stopped the lesson to go to the washroom. I was visibly upset by her teaching method which was abrupt. Since then she adapted her teaching method to better fit my learning style and the lessons where much better. However they always ended around 10 minutes early. She cancelled on me once without much notice. Then again on the day of my road test, she cancelled my morning lesson. She insisted she did not know I had a road test that day yet when booking the lessons we specified that that was why we were booking 4 in such a short period. Also the day, before when I had another lesson we also mentioned how the next day would be my road test. It might be possible she didn't hear but it's unlikely, when we called to see if anyone else could replace her for my morning lesson so I could be fully prepared for the afternoon road test we were told it wasn't possible. It's understandable because it's short notice but it's also frustrating to have a lesson cancelled on such short notice the day of the driving test. read more

One instructor did not speak to her or teach her anything - we asked to change - the other just belittled her and profiled her as a rich white girl that would pay her way out of anything.
