UVU finally came through for the students!…read more As a UVU alumni we always found it tough to find a place to hang out and have fun. With the new addition to the campus we can hang out, work out and study our brains out! They recently built this facility and spared no expense. The student and faculty greatly benefit from this addition as it gives hem all a place to connect and unwind. The building has over 5 basketball courts, a weight room and gym, a bowling alley and conference/study rooms. Playing for UVUs men's volleyball program made me appreciate the building even more as it gave us more courts to host tournaments. More courts meant more teams which meant better competition. The added facility makes it easier to schedule practices for the various organizations that need gym time. A building of this type was needed and UVU delivered. Get yourself a pass while in school. It's worth it.

There's a lap pools, multiple of any type of cardio, weightlifting, and any other type of machine you can think of. There's a track that is kept to spotless. More than enough weights to go around. They don't have a ton of classes, but they have plenty of them and the teachers they have are wonderful. The students working here are also really great. From the girls who check you in, to the people who work janitorial, I'm pretty sure that this is the best staffed place at UVU. I so wish that this center existed back when I was enrolled here. I can't believe that such an awesome gym is free to most of the students. UVU has really stepped up it's game in a lot of aspects, and the new student life and wellness center is no exception!

The program has certainly gone down hill since then. -The coaches provided no guidance or instruction. - The coaches had no real training program for the kids, they would just cycle through a couple of strokes without any other practice. - Despite repeated email and in person requests our kid never got the swim cap nor t-shirt that was supposed to come with the program.

With the exception of it getting a little bit too busy lately we think this place does a really good job at providing a nice place to work out for families. Today, me and my kids wanted to play basketball in the gym. Many of the hoops were much lower than 10 feet. Not a big deal. we went and talked to a couple of the girls behind the desk to ask them to raise the hoops so that we could play basketball at regulation height. One of the girls stood up to talk to me and said, "no, I think all of the hoops are at the right height. " I responded and said, "no, many of them are around seven or 8 feet. They should be at 10 feet. "She looked at me like I was speaking a different language and said no I believe we can't adjust the height of the hoops. I realize that maybe I was speaking to someone who had only worked there for a little while and maybe didn't know the rules or the procedures around raising and lowering the hoops. So I said, "I believe we can raise the hoops and you can use that tool (pointing at the tool by her) to raise them. If you get a chance, please help us raise one of these hoops to 10 feet. " I thought that I was really nice and respectful. What happened is nobody ever came out to help us raise the hoops to 10 feet they just sort of ignored our request. Not the end of the world, we still love this place. But I hope in the future, the staff is trained and able to assist in these types of things.

I love community centers. And the Pleasant Grove Community Center has it all...or mostly. It's a fairly large facility that offers just about everything that you'd expect in a community rec center-except an indoor pool. I visited last night to walk the track (it is too cold for me to walk in the evening around the park, like I might usually do) and I noticed that there were signs on the doors saying that masks were required, but almost nobody was wearing them inside. There were posters all along the walls advertising fun events (chess clubs, hiking groups, gymnastics, etc.). This seems like a fun place, and if I lived closer, I'd likely buy an annual membership. But since I was just in the area temporarily, I likely will stick closer to home.

My wife and I didn't feel like doing the usual fancy dinner for Valentine's Day this year, and wanted something a little more unique. When we saw that Peaks was putting on an event, we jumped at the chance. We checked in and got our skates easily. No waiting and service was friendly. They had two rinks open, and on one of the rinks, they had an area closed off where you could use red pens to write love notes on the ice. We drew pictures and notes alongside other couples and families, and when we were done it was fun to skate around and look at everyone else's. It's also pretty cool to know that you're skating on Olympic ice. Even more exciting with the Olympics coming up again. They also had food trucks outside, which is always a nice addition to an event. We really enjoyed everything overall, and hope they do more in the future. The only big con was they advertised a BOGO deal for the event, but they charged us full price.
