Server was great. We came in and had to wait 5-10minutes for a table. Once seated our server came quickly & grabbed our drinks & then our order. Food came quickly. Sports bar atmosphere. Food is bar n grill food and some barbecue items. Ordered the wedge salad & chicken wings. The salad was really good. Enough dressing & bacon bits. The wings were meaty but i would have liked them to be a bit crispier.

Maybe just not a good day? It was Saturday, we got there before they were really busy but it took them a while to seat us, for our server to take our order and for us go get our checks. The food didn't take too long to come out but it wasn't that great. I don't have high expectations for bar chicken wings, they weren't very hot (temperature) and they were cooked okay. The pretzel with cheese was the best thing we ate. The fries were okay. Our waitress was sweet, but it left much to be desired...

Cool spot with decent selection of beer, the ambiance is super neat, very SPORTS! So if you're looking for a good sports viewing spot check it out. Menu is good!

BBQ SALAD with Smoked Turkey
Amanda D.

We love Lester's for good food with a family friendly environment. From the wings, to the pastrami sandwiches, to the smoked turkey, down to the kids mini burgers and mac & cheese... it's all good quality and packed with flavor! The hostess also brought us coloring and activity books with crayons when we sat down to keep our kiddos entertained. There are TVs everywhere so you can watch all the sports you want, and the manager will change stations too to accommodate patron requests (aka my Nana's baseball game requests). They have a decent selection of beers (bottled and draft) and sodas for the kids. This time I got the BBQ salad with smoked turkey and took half home; it was huge!

Lester's is one of our go-to work lunch spots. The salads are especially good; I always order mine chopped with an addition of chicken, shrimp or salmon. The staff is friendly, and it's always an enjoyable experience.

Thick serving of corned beef
John K.

I ordered the corned beef sandwich with french fries and a pickle spear. I received a thick stack of corned beef which was nice. The corned beef had more fat in it than I like. The french fries were not cooked enough. I could tell by the color then confirmed when I bit into them. The french fries did not have the crunchy texture although they were seasoned well. I received great service at the bar. The restaurant has a fun vibe to it. They have a very large parking lot in front of the restaurant.

We came in after the lunch rush. I knew it would be a good idea, there's always parking (close) in their surrounding-lot. It was raining . After all these years, we heard we should try the burger! Well, it was great (after we had it done to reach "medium" with a bit of pink). Our sever was very understanding and was glad to get it just right. I'll say the servers here have been pretty great, always! The iced tea was briskly and flavorful. If you are a serious, black-tea aficionado, you'll appreciate their brew. (I do not like wimpy tea). It's been two decades, and I always found good foods here. My other favorites are the veggie wrap, the mac and cheese(purist), and the salads! Oh, and if/when allergies or a cold are trying my patience, the chicken noodle soup is a must! None better in St.Louis! OK, enough about me. Check out the deli sandwiches-they bake their own bread! Debbie was our server this time. She's been here since the beginning. And she'll take good care of you.

Patty Melt

First time visit there for work with some coworkers. They were seated quick, we were there at 3:30pm so that probably didn't hurt. Service was great, didn't have to wait for anything out of the ordinary. Staff was really friendly. Most of us got the patty melt they had on special...it was amazing!!! I'm not a huge fan of the skinnier fries, but they were really good. Tried it with their BBQ sauce and it was perfect. The sauce is really good. Someone else did get the pastrami sandwich...wow, that thing had a ton of meat on it, pretty sure I'll go that was next time. My burger was cooked perfectly and the bread was amazing. We looked at the bill after, and yeah, super affordable. Going to bring the wife back over to this one. Really open, sports bar kind of feel to the place. I thought the building was cool, and there was definitely way more room than a "sports bar". Thanks for the good meal, I'll be happy to go back!

Have you ever had a pastrami burger? If not you're missing out! Sat at the bar, spectacular service and we're happy to help us make our pastrami burgers !! Highly recommended!

There are days when a sports bar can solve the world's problems. Lester's outside if St. Louis is definitely a great spot to try. Was recommended Lester's is now for hot pastrami and well as corned beef. Lester's menu has all that you expect from the traditional sports bars, but what separates Lester's from the others is its BBQ menu. Ribs, brisket as well as smoked turkey bring a positive experience when visiting Lester's. We visited late afternoon to watch part of the Cardinals doubleheader, and had plenty of seating. Lester's does have capacity for large groups and recommend calling ahead to reserve for your party. We ordered the hot pastrami, French dip and wings with fries. We also tried the Guinness three meat stew, and everything was served hot and delicious. Our server was very attentive and kept our drinks filled. Lester's is a great place to relax and enjoy some sports while eating a great meal. Give them a try!

Pescatarian Verdict: #stlouispescatarianapproved…read more Sportsman's Park has been part of the city forever. The restaurant opened in 1974 as Jackie's Place, founded by NFL Hall of Famer Jackie Smith and Norman Probstein. In 1980, it was renamed Sportsman's Park after the legendary St. Louis ballpark that was once home to both the Cardinals and Browns. I was there with two friends for a little patio lunch, and I ordered the strawberry and spinach salad with salmon. And yes, #StLouisPescatarianApproved. The salad has spinach, strawberries, almonds, Mandarin oranges, bleu cheese and I subbed honey mustard dressing. Add salmon and suddenly lunch is doing exactly what lunch is supposed to do. It's very much a neighborhood institution, where people have been coming for decades and now bring their kids. Sometimes you don't need the newest restaurant in town. Sometimes you need a classic, a patio, a salad with salmon and three people who are perfectly happy to sit around and talk about food.

Food: 4 Stars Service: 1 Star…read moreAmbiance: 4 Stars I've been here a few times and each time the food options have been solid. Good bar selection, solid portions, and full of taste. I wouldn't say anything is out of the world, but great for a bar. Ambiance is just what you'd expect out of a neighborhood bar...cozy and warm. Each time, the service has been poor and the wait has been long. I finally decided to write a review after my experience yesterday. I sat at the bar with a couple buddies. Three servers (including the bartender) sat at a table chit-chatting while we waited for several minutes. Finally, the bartender came around and instead of acknowledging us, she continued chatting in the corner very close to us. We had to get her attention to order and she was clearly in a bad mood. Throughout our time there, we had to keep getting her attention without her making any real attempt at actual service. On top of that, we overheard her complaining about low tips and that one way or another she would get her money. In the end, she got one of our orders wrong and added an extra drink to the check which I wonder if that was the result of the comment we overheard. My poor service experiences at Sportsman's combined with those of many other Yelpers makes me also start wondering about the quality of the kitchen...if the front of the house doesn't care why should the back of the house?

Walk in and there are plenty of tables, a couple of gathering areas, standing room narrow tables, an outdoor area, and a room off to the side. I went for the Logboat Dark Matter which I have had before in a can and wanted to try on draft. I enjoyed it very much. You know what is great?! British Bar INSIDE a "British designed hotel", so I had my hopes probably heightened more that it should have with my previous British bar results. I went in thinking British craziness and got a "Edgar Allen Poe" feel... But I'm going to say this was NOT what I was expecting. First and foremost, your eyes are going to need adjusting. Plain and simple, it felt more like a dark ... room? (Part of the problem I think is that as it was already June, you can forget using the fireplace to lighten the room up) so it felt.. "Small", and I"m going to feel weird saying this... "Romantic Horrorfest". Wait, before you go "wha??", this isnt' necessarily a bad thing. The Taxidermy , the photos on the wall. the fireplace. the VERY (and I mean VERY) dim lighting... The limited seating on the main floor, the one door in and out it had a "wooden cabin feel".. Yes, if you had a wonderful romantic film and it was suddenly invaded by some monster villain... This where it would take place and it would be perfect. (See I can find positive things to say about things i wasn't looking for) As for the service, apparently (going back to the Romantic filmfest), I was struggling to get any attention for the bartendress, cause I guess I was solo'ing by myself, and because of how I wasn't able to get the bartendress attention... I kinda felt like an unwanted customer in a place more for couples or friends getting together which had me leaving shortly thereafter, so no real food score (although I will say, much like Oh London ,the menu wasn't really much to work through...), Anyway, no TV's, no world cup game on the air.. just like I said a vibe of a cabin in a "romantic movie, where the monsters lurk". And Apologies for some of the iffy pictures, it just didn't feel right using a flash on the camera in such a secluded locale) and like I said, it wasnt' what I was expecting (rowdy British fans watching the local club or something), but there's something about it that even i have to admit, would make this location a nice "date night" or "out with friends' location, more so than just a single person looking for a nightcap. (And Maybe there really is a monster hiding in the fireplace, to keep the "Horror" feel going?? :)
