I couldn't say enough about Dr Carpenter and her team. I hate dentists to the point I avoided them for years, but I thoroughly enjoy my visits to this office. I had to have an emergency crown in my third trimester and they were sooo accommodating with my schedule and my needs. This review makes me sad to write, but I feel I need to in order to share and process my experience. I've had really smooth teeth cleanings at Dr. Carpenter's office and think she treats her staff and patients with a great deal of respect and she's very receptive to questions, which I value. I thought I found my go-to dentist, but after the 3rd incident I experienced, I'm on a search for a new dentist. 1st incident: what I was told would be a routine procedure turned into seemingly nerve damage that's left me in pain when I chew food and consume cold or even room temp food/drinks. I wish I would have been told the risks of the procedure, because I wouldn't have taken the risk - since it affects the only side of my mouth that I can chew food on. 2nd incident: I had a procedure done and found out after the fact that a mercury filling had been drilled out of my mouth. When I raised concerns about toxic metal poisoning and vapors after the procedure was done, I was told all particles and gases were sucked out by the hose they had in my mouth - however, when I rinsed my mouth out in the bathroom after the procedure, there was A LOT of mercury that came out...which leads me to believe that I definitely inhaled the toxic fumes through my nose since it wasn't covered. Since then, my body has been negatively reacting to the heavy metal intake. My holistic doctor advised me to seek a dentist that has the facilities and knowledge about the dangers of mercury poisoning when doing dental work to avoid future adverse impacts. Both items above I addressed with Dr. Carpenter, but there wasn't much help she offered. For the nerve damage, she said x-rays wouldn't be helpful and she referred me to a nerve doctor - essentially, I felt like something went wrong in her process to replace a filling and she didn't want to deal with it so she shipped me off to someone else who deal with my pain. I don't feel that she provided an in depth look of my tooth to try to identify the issue. The 3rd strike for me was that I felt the drill she used on a molar accidentally hit another tooth, which I now notice in how my teeth feel. I decided not to address this with her because I was emotionally drained from the 2 items listed below and felt I wouldn't have gotten any support for that. I also didn't have faith that there would be much that could be done to fix it. It's really upsetting and unsettling to have your bite and mouth feel so foreign after routine procedures, so I've decided to cut my loses and find another dentist who will provide an accurate summary of what procedures will entail - prior to working on my teeth - especially if it involves toxic materials, and also one with more precision and care when it comes to issues that surface. I wish Dr. Carpenter the best, and I hope that my experience is an outlier, as I'd hate for anyone else to go through this kind of experience. Bottom line: do NOT have work done on your teeth for minor issues - especially if it involves re-doing work that's already been done and has no current issues. read more

Wonderful dentist, and entire office. Dr Carpenter and all of the people who work here are super kind, patient, and also truly care about helping people. They are also are genueinly, passionately interested in teeth and dental hygiene. Very warm and comforting environment. I still go here even though I have moved away from the Pasadena area, I can't imagine changing dentists! I love that the rooms all feature large windows that face into a small garden, it is very calming. Also parking is convenient. I have a serious phobia of anything dental (staring orthodontics at age 5 didn't help) but Dr. Carpenter has helped with that a lot. This is a terrific office. read more

I really like Dr. Carpenter as she is very thorough and factual and respects if you have a low tolerance for gum pain, like me. Her hygienists will definitely listen to you if you have issues with things like, oh, the pokey thing going into your gums. OUCH! Very respectful of patient boundaries and definitely listens to you. Worst experience. Surprising with all the rave reviews but I was a new client maybe if I had known her decades ago I would have had a different experience. But I did not. Did you know you can't speak to a dentist unless you pay them a minimum of $145. or more if you get x-rays, and of course, they all want x-rays. I came to Leslie Carpenter's dental office with specific needs and wanted answers for the fee I was required to pay. I didn't get answers - I got a referral to another dentist that charges $180 to talk. ( I'm sure a portion is to cover the referral fee back to Carpenter.) What a racket! I had told the dentist I had questions about having a root canal before I made the appt. it would have been honorable to tell me she didn't do root canals before I paid here, but she did not. I had other concerns she knew about before the appt. regarding gum issues. But Carpenter told me after the appt. that it was due to bone loss. She insinuated she couldn't help. So that is why I gave a 1-star review because I got nothing of value for the fee I paid her. read more

I'm a relatively new patient and I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Carpenter and her staff! I confess I am a total scaredy cat when it comes to the dentist. That's why I wish there are more dentists like Dr. Carpenter out there. Had I found her years ago, it would have saved me so much pain and stress. She did an amazing job today with a procedure I've been putting off for years because I was so fearful of the prospect of pain.
