Super cheery, friendly staff. The woman who helped us some English and was enthusiastic about just about everything they sell. Signs were all in French, and the other customers all seemed local (i.e. this is not a very touristy place!). For those of us with babies who are awake at 6am, there aren't many breakfast options open before 11am on Sundays in Nice, so I was happy to find this place! THE WAIT: None on a rainy Sunday at 9am. They had several customers and were relatively busy for how dead it was outside at that time. But there were plenty of tables open, both inside and out. THE COST: Very affordable, about 15€ for 4 pastries, a focaccia, and two coffees. THE FOOD: * Cappuccino, Espresso - 4.5 stars Rich and foamy, great texture and flavor. Comes with a ginger snap biscuit. * Focaccia (2,20€) - 4 stars Nicely done, fluffy and soft. You buy it cold and can microwave it yourself. I wish they could toast it for you but this seems pretty standard in France. * Almond Croissant - 3.5 stars Tastes better than it looks, though could use more flakiness and be a little more most. Has a small bit of filling too. * Tourte De Blettes (2,50€) - 4 stars Surprisingly good tart with apple and spinach filling. Very dense and moist. Almost a little too sweet! * Muffin lemon (2,40€) - 4 stars Very moist, very intense lemon filling. Also nutella and chocolate options. * Fiadone (2,40€) - 5 stars From Corsica. Like a delicious egg custard tart in cake form. Very dense and moist.

This is a must restaurant to visit by virtue of the beautiful neighborhood with cobblestones narrowed streets that open onto this empty plaza that turns into outdoor festive rows of old fashion checkered table cloth covered tables and the hand written menu on a chalk board. The service is absolutely merveilleux with the wine and pickled cornichons and olives is another nice touch. The salmon with carrots, green beans and the beef stew were succulent and delicious. For dessert, the classic French crème brûlée topped it all. And by this time, the sun has set, the overhanging street lighting covers the whole plaza and we are in a small French neighborhood dining on the street!! The atmosphere is just parfait!

You may be allured by the Stephan Marley blaring from the speakers, the classic nautical appearance, or the Union Jack out front (the staff can speak English). There is a full bar and extensive cocktail menu, and liquor advertisements adorn the walls. A large flat screen TV is playing whatever major sporting event is happening. I ordered the New York burger: 150g patty, tasty bacon, lightly grilled onions, tomato, lettuce, and some kind of sauce. It was a decent sized burger and stayed clean and together while I ate it. Pretty good flavor. It was a burger that could hold its own in the states. The steak fries were decent, though nothing fancy. Clean bathrooms with paper towels!
