We got the full course meal for £28 and a bottle of pretty good Rosé for £22 to share. Both the food and the service were great. They were very nice in helping us choose to eat something since we speak little French. If we ever come back to Cannes (next two years maybe) we will be coming back here to try their other food.

And hats off to the owner who literally was the only waiter in the packed little restaurant and was serving the wine, making the espressos, bussing tables, taking orders, making desserts, speaking to each table a bit, having a wonderful attitude, and doing it all in good timing to all the satisfied customers. The chef himself even pitched in with helping serve, totally in sync with the owner. These two amazing guys totally changed my and my wife's perspective about how other restaurants are run - especially when tipping here is more of a courtesy and in the states many restaurants just add 18% on to your bill for gratuity regardless of the service you got. I left the owner just 10 euros and he was so thankful and graciously declined but promised he'd give it to the kitchen staff when we insisted that we just had to appreciate them with a tip. Unreal, awesome, classy, can't wait to return.

Ever so often, a restaurant can truly be called Crème de la Crème, and for our travel through Paris…read moreand Nice this past week, Bistrot Gourmand is truly the best restaurant we've had in France. Tucked in a relatively quiet street (for Nice anyways), Bistrot Gourmand can easily be missed unless you happen to notice 1,100+ highly rated reviews that this gem of a restaurant has garnered. But if you do make it here, you will be treated to not only a culinary euphoria, but also a delightful, memorable service courtesy of the staff led by the Maestro himself, the manager Alex. To start, we noticed that the ambience and the music curated by Alex are different from all the other restaurants we've been to in Paris, Nice, and Monaco. There was an intimate feel that is countered by his fun eclectic musical taste that somehow works together with Alex's charm and bravado to entertain us and other tables (the other two parties were also on first name basis with Alex, as they were returning patrons of the restaurant). After having our orders taken, we were then surprised by our lovely waitress with an off-the-menu presentation of an amuse bouche to whet our appetite for what's to come. It was refreshing and playful. If there was a slight blemish with our meal, it was the Gaspacho de Courgettes (courgette gazpacho with soft-boiled eggs, basil hollandaise, and crispy onion). For my taste, it was a little too polite in flavor and needed the side of housemade brown bread with its slight saltiness to assist it. It was still good, but I would like just a bit more. The good news is that from here on everything it was smooth sailing across our Côte d'Azur of an experience. The wine of choice was Château Malbec Bordeaux, a fantastic red wine with a delicious initial taste and smooth satisfying finish. It was versatile and complimented everyone's dishes. And speaking of dishes, I had the exquisite Linguines à La Crème et Truffe d'été (Linguine with cream and truffle and). Don't let the short description fool you because this dish was heavenly, the kind of dish that makes you close your eyes just you can further savor the delicious flavor and balance of the pasta, the buttery truffle, and surprisingly light Crème sauce that was not heavy on the oil. I simply couldn't get enough with every bite and this is without a doubt my favorite dish from my time in France! If you enjoy beef tartare, you'll definitely enjoy the Tartare de Boeuf, as "prepared with a knife, potatoes with Provencal herbs." Our lovely waitress took tableside center stage as she mixed various ingredients from raw egg and minced raw beef to herbs and Worchister sauce with ease and precision to create a delicious, savory dish full of bold flavors that you can distinctly taste each individual flavor. Finally, the main event arrived upon us as Maestro Alex rolled out his cart to create our dessert, the Crépes Suzette, façon Bistrot Gourmand. This was worth the ticket going in, as the spectacle elevated our dining experience to another level. Pulsed by a mix of a lively music that started with the Rocky theme, Alex really put on a show with panache and enthralling commitment. It was truly a fun spectacle that is best experienced in person. The best part was that the Crépe Suzette was truly magical in its taste. There was sweetness and slight nuttines that paired well together. Since Tour de France 2024 is only a few days away from its Stage 21 finish at Nice, I can confidently say that Bistrot Gourmand is THE summit finish, the culinary highlight of our travels in France. It was the best way we could've ended this last week in France, and it is now the standard that we will judge our foodie experience going forward as we embark into Italy for the next 2 weeks. Florence and Rome have a lot to live of up to now! In the mean time, for any future visits back to Nice, we will definitely dedicate at least one or two dining experience back at Bristot Gourmand. Chapeau Alex and the staff, and hats off to the chef!

It is hard for me to give a bad review at a restaurant where I actually didn't eat the food, but…read morethe service was so bad before the food came, we had no desire to stay. I made a reservation for 4 people, but one person in our party was feeling sick so only 3 people showed up. When the waiter (I think he was also the owner) asked us if we wanted wine, we said no and he scoffed at us (perhaps thinking we wouldn't be spending enough money there). Our friend ended up showing up to dinner to say bye to us. He didn't order any food, because he didn't feel well enough to eat. When he told the waiter he wasn't eating, the waiter took his utensils, took his napkin and threw it at me and shoved the bread basket away from him... and this was after the three of us had already ordered food. It was shockingly rude. None of us had ever experienced that before. When we told the waiter we were no longer interested in eating there anymore. He screamed, "We serve food here, you have to buy food. There's pizza down the street!" This was absolutely the weirdest and rudest experience I've ever had in a restaurant. If you read some of the reviews on Trip Advisor, many others have had similar rude experiences too.

I have come to Mougins for the past 10 years... frequented numerous restaurants in the surrounding towns, including Cannes. It is located in the small village of Mouans Sartoux, easy parking, on a small street. But lively place after 8 pm with friendly locals and a few tourists dining. Staff all speak good English... young and friendly! We came along about 1945, with no reservation on a Wednesday night, just 2, got a nice table in small street. Would however suggest reserving.... Excellent fresh bread... 4 choices of Rose, 19 to 36 euro bottle.... the Brillo was 19, local, excellent value! We started with Baked goat cheese in oven, came with warm fresh toast, fig compote... we shared this! It was plenty! We then opted for the 3 course meal at 34 Euro each.... Starter: one had 6 fabulous escargots, and I had a warm duck salad, with 3 kinds of duck, including a fois gras main :One has Entrecôte steak, which was an 8-10 oz filet mignon really, accompanied with choices of potatoes ...and large dish of bernaise sauce....I had duck breast w honey reduction and porcini mushrooms, accompanied w fresh green beans w pesto.... excellent! Dessert: one had a warm fudge cake, like a lava cake back home.... and I had the cafe gormond, a local request usually not on menus... you get 4 to 5 small portions of variety of desserts, and cafe! This dessert offering again is usually not publicized.... so just ask! Best dessert value in France! Have never been disappointed! Awesome meal! Friendly staff! Great Value! Note... see pictures... and the only reason I did not give 5 stars is because they only had outdoor seating.... at this time of year... and humidity can be high June-August here.... so nice to have that option... it was not so humid that particular night... so dining outside was ok ! Bon Appetite from Mougins!

Located in the old walled city of Grasse it's a short distance from the parfumeries that tourists both French and international love to visit. It's best to park at one of the three nearby parking lots and walk through the windy narrow streets to this restaurant tucked away in the former store rooms of a building. There are the amazing arched brick and stone ceilings and there is a nice cover patio in front perfect for relaxing and enjoy the Cote d'Azur weather. It's the kind of place Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware go to get inspiration. Very Provinciale. Specializing in cuisine traditionalle there is a nice selection of a la carte starters, mains and desserts as well as two 3 course prix fixe menu for 36 and 26 euro both with many choice for each course. The portions are larger than at most restaurants in France. There are equal selections with seafood and meat and even vegetarian main dishes, not always something easy to find in France. The starter were huge with my salad being loaded with lardons as well a cured duck and the warm goat cheese salad the French spouse was just the way it should be she said and since she grew up in Grasse I'll take her word for it. The mains were equally good with a lamb confit cooked en papillote in filo dough wrapping, served with potatoes gratin and a celery root and parsnip root mash. The French Spouse had a more regional dish which is a seafood stuffed with fish in a tomato broth, it was served with rice and the parnip and celery root mash. The dessert were huge and tasty. One was chocolate mousse cake with a base of Genoise layer with super light but still rich and chocolatey cake with more creme on top and served with a cup of warm chocolate sauce to pour over it. The French Spouse's lemon crepe was full of tangy lemon curd and served with a shot of kir. The place is filled with locals wanting an upscale but comfortable meal. There is a lunch time prix fixe for 13 euro. The dinner menu ranges from 6 to 20 euros per plate and has to the two prix fixe.
