The food was very good but definitely a bit on the expensive side as others have noted. My stag filet was perfectly done and the garlic olives and bread they serve as starters are great.
They do not have any free water options. I spent 10 euro here just for drinking water. Pretty ridiculous in my opinion. When you are spending over 100 euro on lunch for two people I think they should throw in some water maybe?
The Cantillon Chouke we ordered (a great beer) was 38 Euro. It's a great lambic and served in a 750 ml bottle. You can get a 375 ml for 9 euro though at Le Pistolet so I would never order one here again.
The chef came out to our table and talked to us when we arrived for a bit, seemed like a very nice guy and he came back to check on us multiple times. He told us that getting half sized orders was an option for the starters if we wanted to try a few things.
Our server didn't speak much English, mostly French so communication was tough. I asked for a half order of shrimp croquettes and he said that was fine. My friend asked about half orders of a couple other things, Russian egg, and scallops I think, and he was told it was not possible for either of those items.
I received a order of two good sized croquettes, they were delicious but very rich and filling. I ended up finishing them as I was hungry when I arrived but it was a bit of a struggle. Because I had stuffed myself with the croquettes I was unable to finish my venison filet (the real star of the meal), and I had to have them toss a good portion of it.
When I received the bill it turned out I had been given, and charged for a full order of the croquettes. This upset me as I much rather would have just had one as I ordered and finished the steak.
Overall it was about 150 euro for a lunch for two people, with one bottle, and two glasses of beer.
I would maybe return but would hope for a waiter that knew more English or I will have to learn French. read more
