The first time we ate Les Bobos pizza, we loooooved it. Lots of choices, hot and fresh, yum yum yum. It became our neighborhood we-don't-want-to-cook-tonight place. As it sometimes happens, the pizza wasn't as amazing every single time we ordered. Maybe we were less hungry, or we let it get cold, or the crust had burned a little, or we had built up the level of deliciousness in our heads past the reality and were therefore disappointed. You know what I mean? The pizza is good. It's not the best pizza I've ever had in my life. But I haven't found any better in Lyon. (But I haven't been looking.) Sometimes the service is friendly, sometimes not. Nothing to get bent out of shape about. Save a couple bucks and get it to go, and check on the specials they may be offering - I believe it's weeknights when you can get two medium pizzas for 15 euros. They also deliver. It's much cheaper to eat it to go than to eat it at the restaurant, but its irresistible either way. The staff were all incredibly friendly and the kitchen is open to the dining area, so you can see your meal prepared before your eyes. Call your order in ahead of time and cut down on your wait! They say that the west of France houses all the best crêpes and the south-east of France prides itself with its pizza. My first few weeks here included disappointing pizza after disappointing pizza. Imagine my disappointment when I felt I could neither find good crêpes or pizza in Lyon. And imagine my happiness with the first bite of Bobos pizza in my mouth. Not returning to this place. The pizza is just Ok. Thin crust, which is my favorite style, but way too much cheese is added for a thin crust pizza. Also, only 3 vegetarian options, none of them inspiring. Basic toppings of onion, mushroom, olive, peppers, tomatoes, and the one standout is grilled eggplant. Even the Margherita pizza disappoints, the mozzarella is not fresh, no fresh tomatoes or fresh basil. Just shredded mozzarella and olives. Strange. On top of having so-so pizza, we were treated very poorly, which is unusual in Lyon. It began to rain hard on way to the restaurant and we were glad to see a sign on the door that said Open as well as hours listed stating that they open at 18:00. It was 18:20 so we stepped inside, saw delicious looking pizzas being pulled out of the oven, and began removing our rain jackets. The staff looked at us like we were crazy when we asked if we could have a table and told us we could not eat in the restaurant until 19:00. We asked if we could order a pizza to go, and they said no. So we put our rain gear back on and stepped back out into the pouring rain to make alternate dinner plans. After 10 minutes huddling under an awning without finding another option on yelp, we decided to return to see if we could just wait at a table for 30 minutes until we could order. When we walked in we were rudely told no, until one of the staff spoke up for us and the owner finally let us sit. read more
