While in Belgium had to visit as many chocolate shoppes and tasted enough to determine which one to…read moretake back to the family. In the Grand Place these chocolate shoppes were lined up almost next to each other. Neuhaus was the first and ultimately the finalist. I appreciated the welcome as I came in, an overview of the history as I drooled over the well stocked cases. Of course there were too many flavors and types to pick from. Overall my taste buds did its job and the flavor combos, the snap of the chocolate and taste won me over to Neuhaus. I ended up customizing the boxes according to the choices dictated by family back home which covered pralines with caramel, yuzu, coffee, speculoos, etc. In the end buying direct avoided tariffs and what I saved went to more pralines but the tradeoff was a fuller luggage. Neuhaus had a frequent buyer program that I signed up for. Not sure how much I'll make use of it.

Do you like chocolate? Well this is one if not the best chocolate house in Brussels…read more From the time you walk in it's a sensory experience. Visually it's amazing with all the chocolate and options you have to chose from. Yes it's not inexpensive but quality chocolate is well worth it. The lady in the shop was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in making the right selection. Neuhaus was the inventor of filled chocolate with awesome flavors. If in Brussels this is a must stop to shop!

Yorkshire tea saved it from getting two stars. But is it 'The Destination' for your culinary needs? I bloody hope not. It was much the same size as our local Carrefour, with not much of a better selection. Yes the stuff maybe of a more 'gourmet' level. Yet it's much the same stuff. The wine... huge disappointment. There really is a better selection at any grocery store. Yes they had a few bottles of great wines, but with the boasting on their website. One would expect aisle upon aisle of choice. Not half an aisle. I'd go back for the niche item. Regular grocery shopping? Not on your nelly!

Wow! Truly a gourmet produce shopping experience that you get to experience here. And yes, it is…read moreabsolutely a hit to the wallet too, so be prepared. If you are from the US, think Whole Foods, but way more upmarket - almost maybe a better comparison would be Dean & DeLuca, cause similar to them, a lot of the food and drink here is curated as well. Case in point, the guys at the grocery store knew so much about produce I had never even seen before - a yellow dragonfruit! Crickets - chocolate covered and plain and in a dip! Chinese rhubarb! Citron Caviar!! BTW, that last one was a product of USA and I didn't even know that the US was a producer of this food item, let alone what the thing was! I was really super lucky that another Yelper, Hubert E. was accompanying us on our voyage of discovery around Rob's as he knew where the best stuff was kept, and since he is a local, was really helpful in explaining some food items that mum and I could not figure out what they were. Best of all, we ended up going on a day that a whole number of producers were showcasing their goods and so I tasted beautiful salmon (I don't know how I can ever buy Salmon from anywhere else again) to 4 different kinds of bee pollen, exquisite black truffle biscuits and amazing wine from the south of France. Yeah, totally can't wait to go back - next on my list, beside shopping of course, is to go eat at their restaurant upstairs!
