This review is long overdue since my trip in February, but I had to write about it! I had a very pleasant and enjoyable shopping experience for high quality and unique leather goods with Leonardo and his staff. I came here due to a recommendation from a friend who recently visited Florence on a study abroad trip. I decided to do my shopping here, and take several friends. We were able to take our time, and none of us felt like we were being forced to buy anything. Their selections in shoes were great, but a little but limited on the handbags (but it might be just my taste). My friends and I also bought wallets and belts at a very decent price. Leonardo was nice enough to provide us a discount for coming due to a recommendation. I love my leather shoes, and my dad loved the wallet! I had no intention of buying a pair of expensive leather boots when I walked in to the Leonardo Shoes after a week long bike tour around Tuscany, especially since I'd have to carry them home to NYC with little room in my luggage. I was a typical browsing tourist. The salesperson listened to what I was looking for and showed me a pair of beautiful brown boots - he was attentive but not aggressive with his sales approach. As I was wavering over my purchase, I asked "what happens if I have a problem with the shoes .... I can't just bring them back." The salesperson gave me his card and assured me that they would take care of any problem. I bought the boots and ended up having an unexpected problem shortly after returning to NYC. Upon communicating with the store (Anan) via email, we agreed on a solution in which they absolutely 100% stood by their word and their product. Leonardo Shoes made a potentially bad experience in to a positive one. I just visited there today! The service was lovely, and though I tried my best at Italian, the salespeople spoke English (and I think maybe a few other languages?) very well. I bought a very nice pair of dark brown leather riding-style boots. I have unusually wide feet, and the salesman did his best to find me boots that fit me in the style I wanted. It was a great experience, and I'll definitely go back for more before my study abroad semester is over. They have a student discount, too! read more

We had a terrific experience shopping at Leonardo Shoes, with my daughter purchasing a pair in that visit, and then me following up and purchasing a second pair to be custom made, via email. The quality, workmanship, and style of the shoes is world class. The service (both in person and via the internet) was impeccable -- friendly and knowledgable, with excellent language skills. DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!!!!!! Read this before you go shopping at Leonardo Shoes. We went there recently after having read reviews about them which made them appear to be a good place to shop. Nothing could be further from the truth. We were in Rome the day after we made a purchase there only to discover that one of the items was defective and could not be used. I should also point out that nothing in the shop had a price tag and that allows the merchant to charge whatever he wants. Leonardo was emailed about this and we were emailed back stating that Italian law did not permit a refund. This was a blatant lie since their website specifically states that returns and refunds are available. The merchant was advised that the item was going to be returned for a refund. It was, but the merchant refused to accept delivery and it was sent back to us. When a dispute form was filled out with our bank, the only thing that the merchant said was that we never complained and that the item was never returned. I have in my possession documented proof of everything that we did and what was said and that the merchant is a liar ( my bank also supports this position ). As a result, this incident is now being aired over the Internet in all forms of media to warn potential customers that this merchant cannot be trusted and that you are taking a big risk spending your money here. Shop somewhere else in Firenze. All consumer protections agencies that I could find have also been notified about this merchant and I have sent them overwhelming proof of my claim against this merchant.
