I needed a wisdom tooth extraction and possible Root canal. I was referral by one of my colleagues when she got her wisdom teeth pulled here. So I called in few days ago, Asking about how they would handle high anxiety patients and if they do any type of sedation. The lady behind the phone was like, "No." then it went to a moment silence because it was an abruptly, No holding back, Answer. Then I tried asking other questions ending the awkward silence but they also don't do a root canal. So it's fine, but I still needed my wisdom tooth out since its a little bothersome. It just felt she didn't really cared and understood my situation where I'm terrified of dentist and the fact that I had to ask among my coworkers their best experience ever. Well how can I get to the best experience with the dentist if I can't even get the best experience by passing their first facing receptionist. So anyway I still went ahead to make the appointment with her and she told me to register online as well and needed me to write it down. Let you know there was a misspelling so I was unable to get online anyway. Couple days later, I was still looking around for other dentist that can do both and sedation and found one (which actually sent a link to my email for rsvp and to register), so I called in asking if they could cancel my appointment for next week so I could give up my spot for someone else. This second lady was a bit nicer, lot more friendly, and less direct approach. Hence the extra star for her. I would probably had continued seeing Dr Peterson if the receptionist had given a friendly approach and care for new patients. This place is not anxiety patient friendly. read more

This review is for my experience with several wisdom teeth extractions that Dr. Peterson and staff helped me out with. The teeth wasn't causing pain or in any bad shape, but getting them removed was something that I had on my laundry list, and also something I had been delaying for several years since I was not certain how much recovery time I had to take off for work, and just nervous how much suffering I'd be in after, etc. However, Dr. Peterson and their office staff (Monique and Ernestine) made this super easy. If I had known how easy and painless it was (at least for me), I would've done this right away! Everything from the initial consulting appointment, the explanation of prescription meds I'd need, the courtesy phone calls, handling of insurance, the "happy/sleeping pill" that knocked me out for the whole procedure, made all this a walk in the park. Dr. Peterson was so calm to explain everything, and certainly made me feel like nothing to be nervous about (and he smiles a lot, which helps!). Maybe I could've been lucky, but after the procedure I didn't have blood goozing out at all after being driven home, no follow-up complications, nor any pain ever from beginning to end (I followed all instructions for the prescription meds). I didn't have to take any days off at all either (helps that I have a flexible work schedule). It is a small staff, so there were some waiting time from the scheduled appointment time (waited an additional 20 min for my consulting appointment), so prep yourself to be out additional time in case. But otherwise everyone was very nice every step of the way, and I highly recommend Dr. Peterson! read more

I want to scream from the mountaintops and tell everyone how amazing Dr. Peterson, Monique, and Ernestine all are!! If you or your loved one are in need of an oral surgeon, give this office a call NOW. I'm a 22 year old college student who stumbled into issues with my wisdom teeth. Long story short, the back of my mouth had become so Inflamed (due to those pesky teeth) that I could barely open my mouth within a matter of days. I visited my dentist, who referred me to Dr. Peterson's office. I was able to be squeezed in for a consultation for the very next day. After my consult, Monique worked hard to get me in for surgery the following day! I was pleasantly surprised at how dedicated the entire team was to get me taken care of on such short notice. Mind you, this whole time I was a bit scared and feeling lonely, considering my mom is on the other side of the country and this entire situation was incredibly overwhelming. However, Dr. Peterson and his staff sensed my anxiety and worked their absolute hardest to assure me that I was in the best hands. The surgery itself was infinitely easier than I had expected. Not only did I not feel a single thing, it felt like it lasted a total of 5 minutes. I was in and out and on my way (with a caretaker and plenty of Advil in tow). My post op instructions were made very clear, and the entire staff reiterated how welcome I was to call with absolutely any questions or concerns. A few hours post surgery, Ernestine called me to check up on me. Another couple of hours after that, doctor Peterson himself called me to see how I was doing. At 5 pm on Friday, of Labor Day weekend no less! This act alone made me feel well looked after, and the whole process feel incredibly personal. Here I am, one week after surgery, healing right on track. Today I even called to ask a few questions, which Ernestine made sure to answer and sent me off with "call me tomorrow or I will call to check up on you." I cannot express enough gratitude for the love and care I received at the hands of Dr. Peterson and his staff. What initially was a stressful situation, was made a breeze due to their attentiveness, assurance, and devotion to me as a human being-- not just a "patient." Excellent experience. I got 3 (2 bottom/1 top) wisdom teeth extracted by Dr. Peterson and everything went well. Everything has been well detailed and explained to me, answered all my questions when we first met. Day of the surgery, I went in with no pressure, everything was ready on time. Surgery went really well, I didn't feel any pain. Afterwards, I was slightly swollen (only the side where I had 2 teeth extracted) but it went away after 48hours. Only had minor pains for the first few days, Advil was all I needed to get rid of the pain. A week later got my teeth checked by Dr. Peterson, everything was perfect, no infection, no pain, no problem. I had a nasty infection caused by one of my wisdom teeth. Tried to hold out on doing the extraction until next year for coverage since I utilized mine earlier this year for a crown at my regular dentist but couldn't do it! I'm so glad I finally got them out... The constant achey feeling I had is totally gone now. I was super nervous to have them all removed. Had 1 impacted and three surgical teeth extracted last Friday with Dr. Peterson. They were able to get me in for a consultation same day and surgery at the end of the week after my infection cleared up. Monique at the front desk is awesome. This was my first Wisdom tooth to be pulled and believe me when I say I was a little nervous. After my experience at Dr. Peterson's I don't think I would be worried about getting another pulled again. The staff as a whole made the experience so much more calming, especially with the extra attention received from Monique, from the initial appointment till the follow up phone calls to make sure everything was going fine the next few days. After two painful and difficult wisdom tooth extractions with other oral surgeons, I was not looking forward to this one, which was wedged in pretty tightly. Dr. Peterson and his staff transformed my experience into (dare I say it?) FUN. They were wonderful to talk with: informative, respectful, friendly, prompt and downright funny. The procedure was utterly painless, especially after my Little Happy Pill and an anesthetic, which they suggested. I highly recommend Dr Leonard Peterson for oral surgery, specifically for an implant to replace a broken tooth, followed by a crown installed by my regular dentist. Dr Peterson and his staff of Monique and Ernestine are professional and friendly, treating patients like their own family. Dr Peterson is reassuring and patient, taking all the time needed to answer all of my questions I had. At my initial visit, Dr Peterson thoroughly explained every detail & timeline for the procedure and intermediate checkups to monitor the progress. The successful bone graft implant surgery ocurred a few weeks later. (Be sure to follow all instructions re: any prescribed meds to avoid unnecessary rescheduling of your surgery.) My surgery was uneventful, relatively pain-free, and I fortunately I don't remember the details due to the appropriate sedatives. You will need a family member or friend to drive you to & from Dr Peterson's office and wait for you during your procedure. A couple of appointments in the subsequent months to check new bone growth over the original graft material showed excellent progress. Finally, I was ready for the installation of the titanium stud which would receive the eventual crown. Another half-hour appointment, also under anesthesia, was both painless and uneventful. A few weeks later, my regular dentist molded & then installed my crown, which looks as good as the original tooth that was extracted. A final visit with Dr. Peterson to check on integrity of his implant and everything was in great shape. I would highly recommend Dr Peterson and his team if you are considering an implant. Professional in every way and I cannot be more happy with the final results. read more

If you are afraid of dentists, surgery or just have general anxiety about wisdom teeth removal, PLEASE take a chance on the whole crew at Dr. Peterson's office. He was the nicest most patient human on earth during my wisdom teeth experience. I was very honest with him about my anxiety and worries regarding the surgery. He assured me I would be in great hands and spent good time answering all my questions and was very clear about what he'd be doing during the surgery. He provided me with two benzodiazepines (one for the night before and an hour prior to surgery) to calm me down and it helped A LOT. I was also prescribed anti-inflammatory meds and anti-biotics and although it felt like a lot of meds to be taking for wisdom teeth removal, I'm pretty sure it was the reason why I had ZERO issues during the recovery process. In terms of pain, I didn't experience any where the incisions were, but mainly jaw pain (I have issues with my jaw). In my opinion, if you follow the surgeons pre and post operative instructions to a T, you will heal in no time and experience little to no pain. You'll be great! Good luck! : ) read more

I had all 4 of my wisdom tooth extracted by Dr.Peterson. I now have a 6mm pocket between where the old wisdom tooth used to be and the adjoining tooth. I did not have this pocket before Dr.Peterson butchered my gums/bones. my regular dentist has asked me to use a toothpick to clean this pocket every day/night while we waited for bone/gums to regrow and cover the pocket. Its been over one year with no improvement. looks like I will have to use the tooth pick for the rest of my life to keep this pocket clean or go in for a second surgery to fix this.. I hope Dr.Peterson rots in hell.. read more

I made an appointment for October 8th 2018 (Columbus Day), when I got there for the appointment the office door was locked, I could see the receptionist inside, upon knocking at the door the receptionist came out and told me that she had the door locked because she was working through her lunch and she had 2 patients on phone hold before she could talk to me and I had to stay outside until then. After a 15 minute wait the receptionist comes back and tells me that the office was closed since all of the staff including the doctor had called in sick that morning (all are sick excuse on a Columbus Day holiday is the equivalent of the dog ate my homework excuse). Apparently the receptionist had called me that morning but did not leave me a voicemail to inform me of the appointment cancellation, there was no indication on the caller ID to indicate it was from the doctors office. Overall most unprofessional and unapologetic attitude and bad customer service experience. I will be looking for another oral surgeon. I am surprise this doctor is still in business. read more

My daughter and I have had multiple tooth extractions & an implant by Dr. Peterson. He and the staff are truly the best. (We have been to other oral surgeons not as good.) We were immediately set at ease by his kind and gentle demeanor. Dr. Peterson is professional, knowledgeable and calmly answered all my questions & concerns. The prescribed pre-surgery 'relaxing' pill helped too. The amazing thing is that the whole dental experience was pleasant. I believe it's because Dr. Peterson, Monique and Evette are so wonderful. I recently went to Dr. Peterson for wisdom teeth extraction based on a specific recommendation from my dentist and only have positive things to say about the team and the experience (to the extent that pulling teeth can be positive....) The initial contact, pre-surgery instructions, the actual day of surgery and the post-surgery care instructions were all handled very professionally and as for the actual procedure it went very well and I came out of it with less swelling, pain and discomfort than expected. When I went in for my consultation they were so kind and very patient in explaining every step of the process. Then when it came to surgery day they were yet again amazing. Dr. Peterson was great & I would highly recommend him. His office staff was about as bad as it gets. I received a referral from my Delta Dental dentist for an exam for a growth on my tongue. I made the first appointment for 1/2/18 & after a 20-minute drive to his office on 1/2/18, I found a note on the door that the office was closed. Nobody had called me to tell me to let me know & that I needed to reschedule. After seeing Dr. Peterson, on 2/16/18, I was scheduled for a procedure on 2/20/18. I received a call to firm the appointment the afternoon before the procedure. At no time before my procedure, did anyone discuss with me how much the procedure would cost, or if the procedure would be covered by Delta Dental. When I checked in on the morning of the procedure, I was informed that because the procedure would be about $900 and that, because the procedure was on my tongue, Delta Dental may not cover it. The whole time, they had all of my health care insurance information, but made no effort to contact my health insurance provider to see if it was covered or to get a pre-authorization for the procedure. Now, I could be stuck with a bill of several hundred dollars when I am sure that my health care insurance would have covered it 100% as I have no deductibles or co-pays on my health insurance coverage. read more

This is an updated review. My wife had four wisdom teeth removed at this office. We were told that there would be virtually no pain. Ha! I know that sounds crazy but, that is what they said. We had heard he was good and so we just figured he was. After reading Sean's review I realize that we are not just crazy but in fact, this office does treat certain people with complications very badly. The procedure was on a tuesday and my wife was in pain all week. So much for the you won't even need any pain medicine pitch. By friday the pain was getting considerably worse. By saturday the pain was unbearable. We called the doctor and informed him of the situation, thinking there may be an infection. Instead, it was a dry socket. The doctor packed it on Monday afternoon and sent her home with no pain medication because the doctor told her the pain medication wasn't going to do her any good. Meanwhile, I had to watch her suffer. Throughout the rest of the week, she had two more visits and one phone call to the secretary of the office. On Tuesday she explained how she was still experiencing soreness throughout her entire mouth. The area where the dry socket was packed had gotten significantly better yet, she was still sore throughout her entire mouth. It was a constant, uncomfortable soreness that lasted all day and all night. It got worse with whatever she consumed. She received a phone call Wednesday from the secretary and explained to her the soreness was not seeming normal and was very uncomfortable. She was told everyone heals different and keep taking the Advil, use warm compress and take it easy. On Thursday, she explained to the nurse she was STILL in constant pain, day and night. She explained the Advil was not doing a thing and nor was the warm compress or the rinsing. Again, we felt we were not taken seriously. She felt intimated by the way she was being dismissed. At this point, she had not had a full night's sleep since Sunday and was still in discomfort with no end in sight. By Friday, she had gotten 2 hours of sleep the night before, had a migraine she felt the pain/soreness from her mouth was triggering and small, sharp pains in both her ears. So, we called the office and the doctor completely dismissed our concerns and simply repeated how confused he was at this whole situation???? Obviously the communication was a little off in this dental office. OR, they were simply dismissing us each time we spoke with them. Now we decided we had enough and went to seek a second opinion. After getting an appointment the same day, she was simply prescribed proper pain medication and a prescription mouth wash. And I am happy to report she is resting and feeling better. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. read more

Much like some other patients who wound up with half of their tongue feeling numb as a result of Dr. Peterson I am much in the same boat. I had my wisdom teeth extracted I believe February 2013 and since then I have not fully gained back all feeling on the left side of my tongue. Before, and after surgery I was told the numbness would only be there for a few weeks, yet it has persisted for 3 years now. On top of all this a few months after the surgery his office sent my parents a bill claiming that my family owed more money when in fact we did not and had already paid the amount. Avoid this office at all costs unless you feel like having half your tongue be numb for probably the rest of your life. Often times I forget my tongue is like this because I have grown so use to the sensation but considering I am not the only patient this has happened to that's a bad sign. I'm utterly disappointed with Dr. Peterson's practice and wish my family had gone to the oral surgeon my dentist had recommended in the first place instead of trying to save a few bucks. My husband doesn't have a Yelp account, so I'm doing this on his behalf: Adam had a phenomenal experience with Dr. Peterson and his wonderful staff. Adam is very nervous around dentists, so he was doubly so for getting his wisdom teeth extracted. They made him feel comfortable and welcome at his consult, walked him through the procedure, and made sure he knew exactly what to expect. They took interest in his life and were very reassuring. The surgery itself was swift and expert - he was finished in under forty-five minutes, which I found astonishing, and the anesthesia was just right for him (he didn't feel too loopy, but he also wasn't in pain.) His recovery has been a breeze, with minimal swelling and almost no pain to speak of. Each member of the staff from the receptionist to the nurse to the surgeon himself was friendly, interested, considerate, and thorough. We can't recommend them highly enough. read more

I had a wisdom tooth extraction performed by Dr. Leonard Peterson in early August of this year and I'm happy to report that everything has gone fantastic! I avoided the extraction for quite a while (dreaded having it done actually ;-) but if I had known how well things would go I would not have put it off. Both Dr. Peterson and his staff are super professional and they make every effort to make the procedure very low stress. I was fully instrumented with monitors for heart, oxygen saturation, and blood pressure during the procedure which was quite reassuring. They also administered an appropriate level of sedation so that I was very comfortable. I was extremely careful to follow their post operative instructions to the letter and not disturb the blood clot that forms in the extraction site for 4 days and I think that greatly helped make this a positive experience. I know that this will be hard to believe but I had zero pain afterwards. I never had to take even as much as a single ibuprofen for pain control as there was none. I'll have no hesitation to have Dr. Peterson extract my last remaining wisdom tooth if and when the need arises. read more
