I can't recommend Dr. Chalak strongly enough! I was referred to his office by my primary dentist to have two damaged teeth removed. He explained everything to me about the damaged teeth, the need for removal, and the procedure itself. The entire staff is very friendly and very professional. I was in on time and the procedure took exactly the amount of time they said it would. I went home and iced for the rest of the day and woke up the next day with no pain and no swelling! Four wisdom surgical extractions and an impacted pre-molar that needed exposure & bond. Coupled with a 14-year old deathly afraid of needles and pain, and a Dad (me) who had a traumatic teen experience with a dentist wisdom teeth extraction 30 years earlier. Going in, we were very wary, despite the great reviews and referrals from pediatric dentist and ortho. What resulted was a pain free, near perfect experience. My 14-year old fell asleep within 2 minutes and woke up an hour later with everything done. Numbness which is normal, but shockingly that evening and Day 1 after was the worst that it got: light soreness. Barely even needed ibuprofen. The kid never complained once of pain and looked at me like I was nuts that wisdom teeth extraction was a big deal. Zero trauma, zero pain, post-op appt showed mostly healed and no infections or anything. My only regret was why wasn't Dr Chalak around to do my wisdom teeth extractions 30 years ago? Highly recommended - awesome staff in the front office, back office. Very responsive to any questions or issues both before and after. I am not the type of person to leave reviews, but I hope that it would help anyone who feels anxious about removing their wisdom teeth. I honestly hate going to the dentist & my wisdom teeth finally grown in super late during my mid 20s (no one in my immediate family has theirs) & I delayed getting my wisdom teeth removed for a whole year. I was about to go to a regular dentist to take out only 2 bottom wisdom teeth, but decided against it since I would be awake & the trauma wasn't worth it to me. I panicked and looked and read through so many Yelp reviews of doctors who would offer general anesthesia & stumbled across Dr Chalak. They were able to get me a consultation a couple days after calling and the front desk was super nice and sweet which made me feel welcomed! I was feeling super anxious coming in because two of my bottom wisdom teeth were going sideways and the last dentist said it would hit a nerve so I brought in a 3D xray of my teeth. I didn't have a 2D picture of my teeth so Dr Chalak offered me a free scan of my teeth! He reassured me that I would be alright and my case is not bad at all. He advised me to remove all my wisdom teeth at once since I am young and able to regenerate fast. That was fine with me! One time and never again! When the time came to pay, I was a bit stressed about the price, but they were very accommodating! I was able to get my wisdom teeth removed asap but I just got my nails done & they were super long so they advised me to come in with shorter nails since they would use my finger to monitor my oxygen levels. I didn't want to remove it just yet, so i set the appointment 2 weeks later. I was sooo nervous coming in, but Dr Chalak & his assistant walked me through everything. Prior to the procedure he even listened to my lungs since I have asthma which made me feel secure. His assistant told me to take deep breaths, talked to me (even held my hand because I'm scared of needles) which made me feel secure that everything was going to be fine & it did! I was super nervous since I opted for general anesthesia & I was able to hold a stress ball while they were inserting the IV. Dr Chalak made sure I felt comfortable and walked me through what he was doing, when he was doing it. He told me that the medication was kicking in and I honestly felt it right away and knocked out in the next 20-30 seconds. Next thing I knew I woke up & it was over. It honesty felt super painless & his assistant wheeled me out and made sure to tell the person who took care of me next steps. Outstanding practice. First let me say both my husband and I had wretched experiences getting our wisdom teeth pulled, so I was in Mommy-tiger mode when I looked for a provider. The office staff took extra time to talk me through everything and all the details. And here's the thing, this Dr has an extra degree. He is a full MD as well as a dentist and oral surgeon. I liked that. Check with your insurance to see how much they will pay, compared to other offices. I didn't mind the cost, as it wasn't that much different from similar experience 20 years ago. There is an optional part to reduce the chance of infection, that I decided to go ahead with also. The procedure was completely painless for my kid, and he really liked everyone in the office. I'm an adult who has never had their wisdom teeth pulled, who has the worse fear imaginable of the dentist, and I have horrible teeth. On top of all that I've had a tooth extraction before from another oral surgeon years ago and it was a nightmare. Unfortunately I ended up with an infected molar which made my face blow up. I looked deformed due to swelling and had the worse pain in my life! So I spent hours up all night down a rabbit hole on Yelp looking at oral surgeons. I saw a disturbing trend of oral surgeons offering gift cards for positive yelp reviews. Who could trust a business that bribes their patients to leave them a positive review? There were reviews of oral surgeons who had no care for patients and only money. Eventually I found a handfull of oral surgeons with good honest reviews and called all of them to see if they could fit me in for an emergency appointment within the week. Of the several I called, some didn't answer or return my calls, others were rude, and some didn't have anything available. Only Dr. Chalaks office texted me as soon as they missed my call. They managed to get me in the next afternoon! The entire process from beginning to end was amazing. Dr Chalak has the best bedside manner. He is so calm and makes you feel comfortable. He explains everything thoroughly and wasn't pushy. I ended up choosing to get six teeth extracted ( including wisdom teeth) and went with "laughing gas" because I couldn't do anesthesia the same day Dr Chalak let me choose what music to play during the procedure. I opted with Frédéric Chopin which was pleasant. It was all done so quickly and I did not feel a single thing. It was painless! All my fears of such a huge operation were set to rest. I had six teeth pulled! Six! And it was painless! I know this is a long review but I think it's important for people who have fear of going to the dentist, let alone having oral surgery, know that this place is an honest business that treats their patients with real care and consideration. Thank you Dr. Chalak and staff for all you do! I had 3 wisdom teeth removed and had such a smooth and painless experience from this procedure. From my initial call to my post op appointment (follow up), both Dr. Chalak and staff were very attentive, always making sure I was comfortable and understood the process. Unfortunately, I didn't do the best job keeping one of the extraction areas clean and came down with an infection. But once again the staff was very prompt in responding to my concerns and got me in the same day. The infection actually was a terrible experience compared to the actual extraction of the wisdom teeth. I arrived to the office with swelling in my cheek and minor soreness but I was in more pain than I realized once they began to check the area. He had to reopen and clean the infected side. I was so scared and tense but Dr. Chalak and staff made it super quick and were trying to keep me calm. I am so pleased and so happy to have found them. I had already delayed my wisdom teeth extraction for over a year and I am really glad I did. The staff are very responsive to questions, calls, and texts ( which is very convenient and much appreciated). i must be the poster guy for being deathly scared of wisdom teeth extraction. maybe that's because I had one side of wisdom teeth extracted by a regular dentist. Clearly, someone like that is no match to a skilled practitioner like Dr Chalak. Honestly, I don't recall much about the actual procedure since I had a full general anesthesia and was driven home. I wanted to wait until a month passed after my wisdom teeth removal so I could give a honest review once I was healed. I was referred to Dr. Chalak to remove all 4 of my wisdom teeth. I am SO GLAD I did my surgery with him. The experience I went through with him and his team was amazing. The very first day I had my consultation and they explained everything to me that would happen during surgery, explained how the anesthesia would work for me through IV, etc. After that I would get reminders about my appointment through text which was convenient since we all have crazy lives. To get ahold of his office was QUICK AND EASY. I prefer to text as I work on my computer a lot and I was able to text his office 100% and never had to worry about phone calls. The day before my surgery I had a question I had forgotten to ask and it was 10 o'clock at night. I went ahead and still texted and Dr. Chalak personally texted me back within 20 minutes after hours. I want to praise him for this! Not a lot of doctors will work after hours. The day of surgery was very quick and easy. A few hours after my surgery Dr. Chalak himself called me and asked how I was doing. I highly appreciated that as it was him himself, and he answered any questions I had. Once a week passed and I had my check up, they told me I was healing a bit slow, and they gave me advice on what to keep doing to make sure I could continue to heal. Overall, my experience was EXCELLENT. I HIGHLY recommend coming here! After 3 weeks I texted the office again to ask when I could use a straw and they responded within minutes! I had an extremely painful tooth extraction here. I screamed and jerked out of position once during the procedure and outside of that it was a struggle keeping still and enduring. Kept feeling pain despite Dr Amir telling me I shouldn't feel much before the procedure, and things didn't get better even after I complained constantly during the procedure. If you're going to have a tooth extraction here at least go for the full anesthesia. Also he couldn't get the entire tooth out, so there is a piece of it still there. The worst thing is that I got the feeling that it was left there because he got tired during the procedure and wanted to get it over with. I sensed a very 'screw it' attitude from him by the end of the procedure. Honestly Dr Amir was a very pleasant and friendly person so I feel kinda bad leaving a review like this, but the procedure couldn't have gone worse. read more

I went second time around to remove my second wisdom tooth with Dr Chalak. It was a very good experience also thanks to using platelet rich fibrin (PRF) since that saved me from dry-socket and helped me heal a lot faster. Here are some tips for handling healing like a pro. : 1. You might want to stuff yourself with food and water the day before surgery. Also eat all the food you need to chew because you won't be able to chew in the next few days. You can eat garlic, grapefruit, honey which are strong natural antivirals and antibiotics. You also might want to take 5 days off from work to heal. For women you definitely don't want to be on your period during the day of the tooth extraction since as women we are not great at handling pain during period. 2. Ideally you also want to remove your tooth in a time where you are not sneezing or coughing. Sneezing and coughing is painful after tooth is removed and can remove your blood cloth. 3. You go to Dr. Chalak office. Listen and read carefully all instructions ideally before the surgery when you are not under anesthetic. 4. You can ask for a mouthwash called Peridex, which you can pick at the Walgreens across the street. This will help you clean your mouth after eating. 5. You can ask for antibiotics or take some preventively before surgery. I wanted to feel the pain in the first 24h to understand what my wound is doing. But Day2 when I knew my wound is fine and pain was just annoying I took 1 pill so I could sleep. Sleep helps you heal a lot. 6. If you choose PRF, doctor takes your blood out to make the PRF. 7. I used the laughing gas to stay relaxed and happy during surgery. Once the tube is on your mouth do not remove it because the air difference can cause issues. 8. Tooth will be out in no time (after some pressure and maybe drilling), while you are listening to music in your headphones. I really like how the doctor says "You are doing great. Awesome work. We are almost done." 9. After surgery, you really want to keep that gauze inside for at least 1h and really put pressure on it. You do want to bleed to create a blood cloth. That means swallow your saliva so the gauze doesn't get soggy. It helps keep a sterile environment in your mouth. I kept it for 2-3h. The gauze helps a little manage the ton of saliva coming out. It would be good not to drink water for like 6h, just because you want to leave the wound at peace as much as you can the first 24h. For the first 10h I was letting out saliva on towels since I swallowing was super painful and I really didn't want to disturb the shy blood cloth. I forced myself a bit to drink water from a cup (not straw or water bottle). Drinking water became a lot easier Day 2. 10. I like how the doctor checks with you in the first 24h and stays alert of any weird symptoms you might have to take action on time. 11. First 24h are super critical. You want to keep that shy blood cloth in your mouth forming. I could figure out my blood cloth tooth around 10-24h from the kind of blood coming out of the mouth: thicker and thicker. 12. What made me heal in 2 days was really not eating for almost 2 days. I didn't want to have to clean the wound which would disturb the blood cloth and wanted to avoid any infection at all costs. If I resisted first 5 minutes when stomach asks for food, I could fast during the day. 13. Day1 I had an amazing sleep the night after surgery and woke up being able to swallow my saliva and not having to let it go on towels or cup. I was very happy about that. I knew I am on the fast track to healing. It was just some discomfort and swelling. Day 2 I am already started taking 2h walks outside. This carves the path to normality. In the evening I got fever so I swallowed some garlic with orange juice and swallowed some roasted eggplant paste. During the night I felt a lot of pain so I took 1 Advil. Day 1 and 2 I slept a lot. Day 3 All pain is almost gone, swelling is there but is going away. I can even chew today. I felt almost normal. And the story ends of Day 3 since I feel I have achieved healing and I can go on and have a normal day. This was my last wisdom tooth. I hope I won't need to take any other teeth out for the rest of my life. But if I have to ever go through this again, I think every time it will be a different experience since every tooth is different and science advances every day. And I would go to Dr. Chalak every time, if possible. :) I know Doctor will be reading this review and I want to send him a big thanks since he is a hero that saves lives.
