5 years ago I was screwed over by extractions (for braces) from another orthodontist. My face diminished completely - my face pulling back - and me having to sniff a lot harder to breathe - and so I was searching for an orthodontist I can trust to fix this. I didn't think it was possible at all but I dove in anyway. I found Kundel via Google. Did braces again but this time reversing extractions honestly don't have much to say other than thank you and this saved my life. Took me years to write this review. I completely forgot. I absolutely have zero regrets with my decision with Dr Kundel. He is great. I will take pics of my progress before and after when I can. But I thought I had to write this soon. I became so confident as a person after my treatment with Dr Kundel. I did not experience what the others experienced where he was in any way rude or abusive. I always felt that I was under his care and his concern. I don't care what the old reviews say. But Dr Kundel saved my face. I don't know what could have happened to me if I hadn't gone through treatment with him. Years later, I still have not seen any relapse. I am as free and happy than I ever been. Sadly, cannot recommend after I was personally injured and then abused verbally and emotionally when I questioned the issues that were caused by this Dentist. He failed to take an X-ray prior to taking out a perfectly good filling. Then he failed to keep proper and legal notes in a chart and has failed to give me any records whatsoever. He also installed a too-big crown that was badly constructed and then tried to shave it down while in my mouth. He did not understand correct installation and other techniques that are to be expected in any Dentist. I had to seek another Dentist to repair and remove that horrible work that he did but the damage was done and his abuse was unacceptable. read more

This kundell guy is a complete loser. Supposedly practices "holistic" dentistry but denied me care and kicked me out of his office because I declined x-rays lol. Said he would make me get X-rays even if I had x-rays a couple months ago. Sounds like he doesn't want to give up the revenue for them. Was pretty rude as well. Do not go to this clown. read more

Dr. Kundel told me that I had "infection" in both my maxilla and mandible and that I needed to extract all of my teeth. He told me that this was also the cause of my chronic fatigue syndrome. He charged me $15,000 to extract all the upper teeth (he also wanted $15,000 to extract the lower, but I never went ahead with that because there was no improvement in my symptoms after he extracted all the upper teeth, like he promised there would be) and $2500 for an upper denture. He required that I "sleep" during the procedure and because I started vomiting in my sleep during his first attempt to extract all of my upper teeth, I had to go back the next day to finish. He charged $1000 per extraction, because he claimed that he "cleans out the extraction site much better than a conventional dentist does." The denture he made me looked so horrible, that I could not leave my house for six months. Because he did not want to take more than three visits to make a denture (otherwise, he said, he was losing profit), he gave me the name and number of his denture lab, and I had to go there to have my denture made. The dental lab charged me $400. He sends his biopsy reports out of state, to Texas, and so they are not legal in CT. All of his reports stated "osteomyelitis" but indicated no infectious agents. My chronic fatigue syndrome was not cured. When I complained to the State Dental Association, they told me that they would write a letter to him, asking him to return my money, but he refused. They said there was nothing more they could do, because he was not a member of the ADA. This guy uses a lot of pseudoscience and quackery. And only cares about money. Trust me, he does not care about YOU at all. Personally, I am not a fan of the ADA either, because they allow their dentists to place IARC Group I carcinogens in our mouths without our informed consent (nickel, beryllium and chromium). He denied any wrong-doing to Connecticut authorities but admitted to wrong-doing to NY authorities only because he faced criminal charges in NY. Sociopaths (who are often quite charming, but they lie, lie, lie) and criminals will only admit to wrong-doing when they are threatened with punishment. Unfortunately, from what I understand, it is currently not a crime in the State of Connecticut to falsify dental records. Dr. Kundel knows this and uses it to his advantage. So, buyer beware. Unless and until he learns to apologize and make restitution to his victims, I would not trust him at all. And I would not trust any of the positive reviews here either. The only thing Dr. Kundel has any competence at all in is marketing and "working on himself". ******************** UPDATE 7/8/15 I have also just learned that due to the nearly decade long delay in diagnosis and treatment of my jawbone lesions and ulcers caused by Dr. Kundel's bogus biopsies, that I have twice tested positive for very low kappa and lambda light chains, and my rheumatologist tells me that this means bone marrow suppression, and end-stage disease. read more

I note he has lots of positive reviews from 2015. However in 2018, I definitely wasn't impressed with him or his root canal protocol. I found him inpatient, short and condescending. I went to another dentist to finish the procedure he started unsuccessfully and the experience was educational and professional. This replacement dentist gave me a beautiful new crown that matched my teeth perfectly with absolutely no drama or excuses. read more

I have been in search for a Holistic dentist for a few years and I came across Dr. Kundel. Since 2016, My experience has been wait time. This is the second time I had to wait 45-1 hour. We live in a world where time is valuable. I feel its not respectful of my time to have to wait that long. If he is overbooked, then there should be a choice allowing the patient to know prior to arrival that he is running late. Living in an age of technology a text message or a phone call to a patient would allow the patient the option to choose to wait or reschedule. read more

I am so happy I found Dr Kundel. I had sinus issues for a while and tried different things. Nothing really made a diference. I came in for a check up and told him about my sinus issues. He looked at my teeth and told me that my bite was off. I had braces and did not wear my retainer, so my teeth moved a little. It was not noticeable in my smile so I was not worried. He picked it up by looking at my bite and asked if he could make one tiny adjustment. I agreed. It took him several minutes to adjust just two teeth. I got up from the chair and right away felt my head was lighter. This was last week. I am pain free and still can't belive it. Dr Kundel was very professional and kind in his approach. If I could give him no stars I would. He is one step away from filling teeth with oregano. His claim is that he is a holistic dentist. At my visit he had (and I kid you not!) 5 infants in the waiting room with their parents all waiting to have their frenums cut with a laser. They were all crying and the Dr looked frazzled. Apparently he has some friend who Is a pediatrician that tells everyone your baby needs to have it's frenum cut so it can nurse better, and then they are sent to Dr. Kundel. I saw Dr. Kundel in this office and he's the best dentist I had ever visited (since I constantly move, I saw plenty of dentists). The scheduling was very easy, the wait time almost non-existent, he was very attentive and the entire procedure was painless and to my surprise almost enjoyable. Dr. Kundel is very honest, where other doctors in Manhattan recommended multiple expensive procedures, he was honest and only performed necessary work. I had multiple fillings and few dental crowns, where the new crowns felt like my own teeth. I haven't experienced any pain and discomfort since all those procedures. He's a dentist for our entire family now!! My wife and both of my kids are his patients and I recommend him to anyone looking for a great dentist. read more

This is one of the most expensive dentists around and wants for you to keep returning for consultations and then to return for extras another time then to return for another exam just so they can keep charging and charging. I brought my six year old son to Dr Kundel because of bed wetting and snoring. I was told that this dentist can help us. While Dr Kundel obviously is not a urologist and does not treat bed wetting issues, my pediatrician told me that the answer could be in the mouth. I was surprised to hear this but went for a consultation. Dr Kundel was able to build a rapport with my son within ten minutes, examined him, and explained what connection could there possibly be. It was so simple and obvious yet we did not see it. Fast forward six month. Bed wetting is history and so is the snoring. No more dark circles under his eyes, no more dark moods, and no more outbursts of anger. My son is well rested in the morning and cheerful through out the day. I am so great full for my enlightened pediatrician and Dr Kundel. Thank you. read more

Not a fan. I would strongly advise people to avoid Dr. Kundel. In my opinion, he meddles in areas of medicine well beyond the scope of dentistry that should be handled by physicians. In my case, his diagnoses were refuted by my doctor and subsequent dentist. In my opinion, I wasted a lot of money with Dr. Kundel on what I believe to be frivolous procedures. I even had to subsequently correct an issue caused by Dr. Kundel's "treatment" at great pain and expense. I learned about Dr. Kundel through Literacy Specialist Tara Clancy who I heard on WGCH Greenwich Radio. She was speaking about reading problems in emerging readers. I went to her website and was surprised there was a lot of information about teeth, your child's bite, and sleep disturbances as potential contributors to reading challenges. This was new to me. I sort of filed it away in my mind but when my first grader wasn't smiling in his first grade school picture, and I asked him why, and he said: "Because it HURTS." I was alarmed. I called Tara Clancy the literacy specialist and she said: "Go to Dr. Kundel. He worked wonders on my three kids." Within months of having the ALF appliance in his mouth, my son said: "Mom, my mouth doesn't hurt anymore." Also- his teeth were coming in horribly, some literally coming in behind others. His mouth looked awful- but within months of wearing the ALF this changed. I am amazed. When I was a kid I had four dental extractions (4 teeth pulled) to accommodate new teeth in my crowded mouth as a sixth grader. I wore braces for four years. I have a jowly face because my jaw never grew and developed because of teeth being pulled which is avoided by Dr. Kundel. NOT pulling teeth is important to allow the mouth and airway and jaw to grow robots full potential and the dental work Dr. Kundel does allows for this. Allowing the bone structure to meet its full potential as the ALF facilitates. This is less painful than braces- almost pain free. A little soreness on adjustment day but not much at all. Our two year old girls had a fantastic experience during their visit with Dr. Lenny. His bedside manner and a "no-pressure" approach made our kids very comfortable and they willingly let Dr. Lenny examine their teeth. Dr. Lenny took his time to make sure our children would have a positive experience and at any moment they seemed uncomfortable he'd stop and explained to them what he was doing. I just saw Dr. Kundel this morning and he is fantastic. I went in for the new patient special ($99 for x-rays, a consultation, and a cleaning) and he not only took his time with the cleaning, but he also helped diagnose a problem in my jaw that has been bothering me for years. I was told by previous dentists and orthodontists that my jaw was nothing to worry about, but he identified that it has been dislocated and needs treatment. Had I not come to see him, this problem would have continued to get worse until I would have had to resort to surgery. I am now seeking treatment from two people who he referred me to. The office is clean and the technology is state of the art. Dr. Kundel himself is a very friendly, charismatic person who I could tell actually cared about me and wasn't just interested in seeing as many patients as possible, which is unfortunately the case with many doctors nowadays. He thoroughly explained what was going on with my jaw and assured me that my teeth are doing well. His office staff is just as friendly. What I really appreciate about Dr. Kundel is his holistic approach to dentistry. I am not a fan of fluoride or mercury used in dentistry, and he does not use products with fluoride or conduct procedures using mercury. For this, I am very grateful and I hope that more dentists will follow in his footsteps. I went to Dr. Kundel to address my sleep apnea which was previously treated with an oral device. This device caused my teeth to move in wrong directions, an inabiity to chew with my back teeth because they no longer met, awakening daily with jaw pain and headache and eventually trauma to my front teeth. Dr. Kundel has devised a plan to increase the size of my oral cavity which will address my sleep apnea. He also has planned braces at the end of the apnea treatment to put my teeth in their proper positions. I am very pleased with this plan. Every dentist that I have gone to has decreased in one way or another the size of my dental arch. Dr. Kundel is the only dentist that recognizes the benefit of not decreasing the size of the dental arch but maintaining it or increasing it. read more

I went to Dr. Kundel for a second opinion because my previous dentist said I had a tooth that required a root canal. The root canal was going to have a significant out of pocket cost and in my mind, is a last resort procedure. Dr. Kundel came highly referred by a freind and she noted that he was a holistic dentitst which I really liked. Dr. Kundel examined my teeth and looked at my xrays and noted that I didn't need a root canal, just a new, stronger filling since my fililng was from childhood. He removed my amalgam filling safely, filled my tooth with non-amalgam filing, and voila my tooth looks beautiful with no silver middle and it has not bothered me since. I brought my child to Dr. Kundel because he helped my friend's daughter. She had crooked teeth and could not breathe out of her nose. She was six when she started. She is now seven and uses her nose to breathe. Transformation of her face is something you have to see to believe. I was convinced, so I brought my daughter to him. She actually enjoyed her appointment and spoke with him the way I rarely see her do. He listened and answered her questions patiently. It was interesting to watch their interaction. He explained what he wants to do for her, and she agreed. We started the process. I was impressed by his professionalism and sense of humor. My daughter felt at ease, and I was very comfortable. I have been a patient of Dr. Kundel's for just over three years. I haven't had anything other than examinations, cleanings and some x-rays done, so my experience with him is somewhat limited. That being said, I will say that the office is very clean, comfortable and modern, and the staff very friendly and helpful. Dr. Kundel has always treated me professionally and fairly, been patient at answering my questions, not pushy and seems to be very knowledgeable as well. This is a a great dental office. Clean and quite, classical music playing in the background. Pleasant smell when you walk in. Even though I just came in for a regular check up I was asked questions about my health that no dentist before asked of me. I left knowing more than when I came in. I'm not your typical patient that hates the dentist - I'm 10 times worst then that patient - I'm the patient from hell that no dentist wants. I get severe anxiety at the thought of even going to the dentist. I hadn't been to the dentist in probably 10 years due to this fear. But unfortunately, my mouth was a hot mess and I had no choice but to go. My first interaction started with the lovely receptionist. She was just amazing. I told her my story, she talked to me about Dr. Kundel's background, what I should expect..... It was more than just fitting me into an open slot. When I arrived, she could clearly see I was still nervous. She kept me calm and helped me with all of the paperwork. The assistant that took my X-Rays was the same exact way. When the doctor came in, he immediately put me at ease within 60 seconds. I was completely shocked at how he was able to talk me through my anxiety issues and actually was even able to do an exam on my mouth. Instead of pushing my cleaning through that day, he sent me home with some things to do first so that I wouldn't be in pain, and told me to come back in when the infection cleared so he could begin the work on my mouth. Most dentists would try to some what numb my mouth and I'd have to sit through the pain. Dr. Kundel did what was best for ME and not his business. The right thing to do for the business was to start the work and get paid for the services I needed - but did right by me! I can't say enough good things about this office. The staff is professional and kind. While I'm not jumping of joy to go back - I'm not nervous at the thought of going back there. read more
