This Leon store is a rather unique location, as it is the chain's first-ever drive-thru location, located a short motorway drive across from Leeds city centre, in the village of Gildersome, it is located in a small complex that includes a BP Petrol Station and a Starbucks, yet this is a standalone location that has its' own drive-thru and parking area.
The store interior is really cool, it's bold and modern and much more exciting, and different to other Leon stores I have visited, it feels quite hip and the place to be.
They have tablets to order the food, and although there was a manned desk too, I was able to order with ease and have my receipt emailed to me, which was pretty cool.
The staff seemed friendly enough and my food was served pretty quickly, although to be fair, having only ordered a portion of waffle fries, this wasn't the most complex order.
I do find the menu options have got worse at Leon lately, but this could apply to many options, including the removal of various gluten-free items including the nuggets and burger buns, they try to be promoting healthy fast food so there are multiple options for vegans and vegetarians... sadly they haven't managed to get a real non-vegan mayo/aioli.
My waffle fries were hot and cooked well, I did have them with ketchup on this occasion, due to not liking the sound of the other sauces on offer.
I was confused to find part of the seating area cornered off, I did visit in the early evening, but still with it being a couple of hours until they closed, it didn't make sense for them to close off most of the more comfortable seating with charging sockets, quiet or not.
4* - An interesting and cool store concept, I enjoyed my experienced, although nowhere near perfect, it's unique and I hope Leon rolls out more stores like this in the future. read more
