Inside, the views are quite nice as it is mostly glass, however, the area in between the seating and counter, perhaps closer to the counter seemed a little dirty and it felt like it was left behind when this place was being built, so isn't as nice as other parts of the building. The staff didn't seem too helpful when I asked about their gluten free options, they basically gave me a reluctant and easy answer that they couldn't offer anything due to the cross-contamination risk, I eventually asked if they would make me a jacket potato and the server also was reluctant and hesitant with the response, she didn't seem sure, she just said "yes". This was disappointing and didn't fill me with faith eating here. The board at the counter which shows Parliament is quite cool, trying to link into the name of Parliament Square. I don't feel the response, confidence, helpfulness and friendliness of staff was good enough, and neither was the overall selection, some parts of the store just felt not as nice/new as they should, and sadly I'm struggling to justify anything other than a single one star for Parliament Square Cafe & Deli in Oldham.

There's no atmosphere and there's no wow factor of an amazing aroma as soon as you walk in! For the price you pay, you could go to one of manchesters top restaurants for not much more! Another thing is the desserts.. Everyone has been going on about the cakes and ice cream there for weeks! They have them all lined up in a cabinet so of course, you have a look and see toffee ice cream with actual tofifees in it! 'Wow!' And bubblegum ice cream with real balls of bubblegum in it! 'Ever better!' So you order them both and just get a plain scoop of ice cream from a tub which is nothing like what they show you! and for £1.80 a scoop! WHAT?! I could have bought the whole tub you just got that one scoop from!!! So overall, I won't be returning! And as I can recall, I wasn't the only one unimpressed as there was a lady behind me complaining that she had found hairs in her food, not that they wanted to do much about it and just replied with 'the kitchen staff wear hats!' Brilliant customer service you have! (Not!)

One half of the small building (by the river as the name suggests, but not overlooking it) is their kitchen, the rest light and airy with about six or seven round tables perfect for families and groups. It does get to be a bit of a squeeze in there at times though. On their walls are their chalked up specials and paintings for sale borrowed from the People's Gallery across the road. This cafe is perfect for traditional English breakfast and lunches like paninis, baked potatoes, soups with specials like lasagne and chilli con carne all under £5. They also provide a takeaway service which is pretty popular at lunchtimes.

It is nice to come here if you are waiting for the next train and want something warm to eat. Or even just a good old gossip with your mate. Either way they are accommodating. They help local businesses too by providing takeouts. The place is small but then again it is not meant to be a massive cafe. It is small and quaint to fit in with the town. The river Tame flows right next to it. It is pretty and has photos of the local areas on the walls.

The property has also just undergone a refurb giving it a light, airy and modern feel through the addition of a splash of colour and bench seating. Food is typical pub grub and they have added a carvery (personally not my thing!). Well stocked bar with JW Lees beers. Serves a decent cappuccino too! Area is split between tap room - showing football, main bar and a more family orientated area here also. Only eaten here a couple of times and had burgers and sandwiches, all of which were good for the price. Often come here for a beer or coffee in the afternoon or early evening in a relaxed atmosphere. Gets very busy on a Sunday. Only gripe is there constantly seems to be reserved tables with no one on them - it is a pub - quit with the reservations!

I was served 2 small pieces of ham followed by one nice slice of turkey and then a ultra thin half piece. Moving on to the vast selection of veg but to be disappointed in that what was left, in that they were dry, the dregs or just couldn't be bothered refilling up I didn't know! The roast potatoes needed further roasting, the cauli was hard NOT 'al dente', the broccoli was hardly any left. The stuffing was bits only left on the rim, sweetcorn again scrapings and carrots I didn't dare take a spoonful incase my partner wanted some too... Anyway, some 20 mins later all lights over the carvery went off and clearly 8pm was close! The waitress came over just after asking if everything was OK?... Oh dear, dont ask ME that unless you want an honest answer... Needless to say the above was all politely discussed. She managed the situation very well and apologised and gave a full refund without question or without me having to suggest this. Considering this carvery is double the price of its neighbouring competitors (both Toby and Crown are within 10 mins drive of here) I was expecting a little more. However customer services was good so I will try here again a little earlier in the evening when I can review the rating I have given.

It's a pretty unassuming location, on a busy main road and nearly opposite a big supermarket but as soon as you step inside the Northern Crafthouse you could be in any part of the Northern Quarter. It's got that reclaimed/vintage vibe going with lots of exposed brickwork and wood - and some rather fabulous chairs which looked like old school chairs recovered in leather. The menu isn't going to win any healthy eating awards - burgers, tacos, hot dogs and burritos make up the majority. There's also a brunch menu which is served at the start of the day. Sparky went for the BBQ beef burger, I opted for the cajun chicken burger. Each came on an enamel plate with a gingham piece of grease proof paper - again, very on-trend for the NQ! We really enjoyed our food, although my burger was a little bit on the salty side. We also polished off a bowl of fries. The crowd was fairly mixed, ranging from 20 somethings out to cure a hangover through to families with children. There was a really nice vibe to the place and it makes a really welcome addition to this part of north Manchester, showing that Prestwich isn't the only place with cool hangouts!
