I was visiting Little Tokyo after having been fabric shopping in the Fashion District when I came upon Leola Lace while walking. I had just come from a cafe where I had a matcha latte and was holding it when I spotted a lovely fruit patterned skirt in the display window. Immediately, I knew I wanted to try it on because it was cute and I could see myself wearing it. I entered the store and the sole employee seated at the cash register told me there were no drinks allowed in the store. I asked her if there was someplace inside I could leave my drink, such as the cash register table she was seated at. She told me I could leave my drink outside, on the floor. I honestly was a bit in shock hearing this?? I've never had this happen where if a store did not allow drinks they would not also have a space designated to park your drinks so customers could still browse and therefore shop at their establishments?? Her tone and delivery was also rude and I was completely turned off from the entire store, let alone purchasing this skirt that I had liked. I left shortly after this rude interaction, which was a shame, because I liked their products. read more

9/23/2017 We ended our day in Little Tokyo by shopping in this little boutique. The display of clothes in the windows beckoned us to come on in. Not to much moving room due to the racks of clothes. Only two changing rooms, but it was doable. Many nice outfits and cute jewelry pieces. Plenty of large purses. LOVE the sale rack. I tried on some really cute dresses, but ended up only buying a $10 silver ring. My daughter on the other hand is another story. read more

Pros: This is a cute little boutique that always draws me in with their front window display. Their jewelry is always so dainty and delicate looking. They also have some trendy, well-made pieces at decent prices (~$45 for a shirt and ~$55 for a dress). I got an adorable blue and white striped wrap dress, which has shorts attached underneath. It was perfect for a dinner by the marina! (See photo below) It was pretty windy, and the shorts saved me from a couple Marilyn Monroe moments... Cons: Sadly, since it's a small store, the more popular pieces are often sold out in size small. I'm 5'7" and 115 lbs, and the small usually fits me well. The dress I got was only available in medium or large, so I had to get a medium and pin in the sides. Another downside is the customer service. I've found that the employees are usually pretty unfriendly, and don't even bother to smile or welcome you into the store. It can also be a pain to find parking. For a close and affordable parking lot, I recommend the Aiso St. Parking Garage at 101 N. Judge John Aiso St. read more

Their selection is small, but their items are stylish, well-made and well priced. Tops are around $25+ and dresses around $40+. They have new items coming in every week, and they boast a wide variety of styles ranging from classic to hipster. I stopped by Leola Lace yesterday on a whim as I was headed down the block for sushi and happened to park around the corner. Where has this shop been all my life?!?! Although I didn't really look at the clothes and handbags, everything was very cute and the prices were phenomenal. I was drawn to the jewelry at the center table: earrings, necklaces with adorable center pieces, and bracelets. There was also more higher quality jewelry near the register. I ended up buying two necklaces and one ring for a little over $30. The woman working there was very nice, too. I feel like this is LA's best kept secret when it comes to low price, cute jewelry, like the ones I've been drooling over on Etsy. I work in DTLA and often buy birthday gifts locally and went there specifically for a gift card to promote the cute shop and it was as if the clerk finally perked up to decline my request. I often stop by this cute boutique whenever I'm in little tokyo. They have cute selections ranging from shirts, sweaters to dresses and accessory pieces that look dainty and trendy. Some downsides are: Parking and the return policy. They tell you that it's full refund within 7 days and exchange only in 14 days. But when I went back to return something in less than 7 days, they wouldn't allow it and I know what I heard. The sister and I were in Little Tokyo and decided to check out this place since our favorite YouTuber discovered it. It was kind of hard to find for us, but it's on the corner of 1st St. and Judge John Aiso St. (the building with the clock). The store has really cute decor inside! Lots of branches for displaying and nicely lit. The woman working there was really nice and patient with us - we were shopping in there for at least an hour, LOL. They have mostly jewelry, but there's also a good amount of clothing and accessories. Prices aren't bad! Most of the jewelry is $12-15, but they also have some higher quality gold/sterling silver pieces that are $30+. They have a lot of great delicate necklaces - great for the whole layering trend right now! As for the clothing, prices aren't that great, so I'd probably skip on that. Quiet, small, and bright store, with great prices and revolving selection of clothing and fashion jewelry. Inventory includes dressier clothes, stuff you can wear to work, and some basics. Quality can vary, overall reliably not-bad. There is usually one staffer so the store is understandably closed randomly for short periods during the day. Parking is a slight pain - there are lots in the area and some (expensive) metered parking. read more

I love Leola Lace. They are the best clothing boutique in Little Tokyo by far. I live in the area and always pop in to see what they have. The style here is mostly boho which I love! They carry so many cute necklaces, bracelets, earrings all of which are gold plated and extremely well priced. I would definitely recommend trying on the clothes before buying, but I love all the pieces I've purchased from here. They carry mostly downtown clothing brands, most of which get rebranded when they get shipped off to Urban Outfitters or even Nordstrom. Why pay the marked up price when Leola Lace carries items that are comparable! Definitely worth visiting in if you're in the area. --- Parking: Located on the corner of 1st St and Judge John Aiso, the parking can be tricky. The service has been a miss for me. I've been back three times so far just because their Instagram accounts keeps drawing me in. I've only been greeted by the staff one out of those 3 times. Nonetheless, it comes down to the merchandise. The pictures they post online look adorable, but when you go in you realize that they pin the clothes in the pictures to make them look smaller. The store's smallest size is a small, which runs on the big side. It varies from style to style, but all the smalls were too big for me. I wish they had better sizing for petite customers. read more

CRAP JEWELRY. I bought a necklace from here, wore it out ONCE the very same day I bought it and by the end of the night all of the gold color had rubbed off. Against my better judgment, I thought maybe I got a bum piece and bought a cord bracelet from them the next time I went. When I pulled it out of the package and put it on my wrist, I realized the bracelet was made in a way that the weight of the beads meant the drawstrings would not stay tight. So the bracelet kept expanding and sliding off my wrist. NEVER again. Don't fall for how cute it is. The jewelry's priced affordably, but I've legit had swap meet/Target/even FOREVER 21 jewelry that was made better and lasted longer. Also, I agree about the shitty attitude. Love the clothes here but I am not happy with my experience today. I drove 20min, paid $4 to park, and the store is closed. Sign says "open", Yelp says "open". Not open. I understand that when one person is alone and running a shop, they may need to step away for a few minutes. I walked around for 40 minutes and no one ever returned. Please put up a courtesy sign for your costumers "back in 20" or SOME indication that we aren't waiting around in vain. There is also no phone number listed to call ahead of time which could also prevent such futile expenditures of my time and money. read more

The quality of the clothes was quite good, and much cheaper than similar items in big chain stores like Banana Republic or Anthropologie. Beware that the sizing is similar to that in East Asia, which runs probably one to two sizes smaller than the US sizing. I highly recommend it. read more
