I asked an employee why we were being skipped since our appointment was at 3:50 PM, and she had no explanation. At that point, we decided to leave. We were already half an hour behind schedule, and no one could explain why. No thanks--I'll go where my time is respected.

They have never pressured us to buy any of their optical services (glasses etc.). We are all seniors and OHIP pays for our annual visits. Unlike one of the reviewers below, we have never had an issue with our appointments being cancelled or delayed. The doctors are professional and caring. I really like the staff here and the place is spotless. I've seen a few different optometrists here (they try to keep you with the same one, but sometimes the optometrist no longer works there when you return), and all of them have been friendly and patient. The reception staff are also really nice and you always get a reminder call the day before your appointment. The clinic is bright and clean. They also sell glasses there. They don't have a huge selection though. They sell contact lenses too and their prices on those are very competitive. It's $165 for an eye exam, which I think is a bit higher than other places, but for the professional service and clean environment, I think it's worth it (although I do have health insurance so I get a partial reimbursement). I don't believe there is a parking lot at this location, but there is street parking. I initially chose to go here because it's walking distance from my home (so I can just put on some shades and stumble home after they dilate my pupils, and not have to rely on getting a ride), but I continued to go because of the great service.

Really bad shape…read more I've been a glasses and contacts wearer for about 12 years -- which means that I've been a contacts wearer for most of the hours in those 12 years. I try to take care of my eyes, but I had just moved from Boston and I hadn't tried to find a new optometrist during all the transition, and i was wearing old contacts for far too long. My eyes were sore and basically rejected my contacts. I was dropping all the eye drops I could find and my eyes were blurry all the time. All of this is to say that Wesboro Optometic was the best place I could have gone. I should note that I went to Laurier Optical in the Rideau Center first because it was cheaper and I'm still an American resident technically. After they made me cry because they were mean, hard to understand, told me there was something seriously wrong with my eyes and I'd need to see a specialist, and gave me the worst prescription ever, I vowed to find someone else and get a second opinion. Westboro Optometric isn't far from my house, and it looked really nice and clean when I was heading by, so I made an appointment. Plus, it's one of the only places with a good website, which is helpful to get an impression of them. They charge more for an appointment ($160 vs $75), but it could not have been more worth it. The staff is very friendly and thorough, and I'm incredibly thankful for my doctor, Jason Bussey. Dr. Bussey made me feel comfortable from start to finish, and has really walked me through the process of getting my eyes better. After a very comprehensive exam, he gave me some contacts to try for a couple weeks, then I came back free of charge to test my vision with those contacts. When my eyes started to heal, he sent me off with another prescription and I came back in three more weeks to try again. My eyes were getting so much better, but I told him they were still sore, so the gave me medicated drops and a new precription. Now I'm back to a much lower strength prescription because my eyes have healed -- which is the opposite of what the Laurier Optical said would happen. They basically told me my eyes were never going to get better because I treated them bad and I might need surgery. Dr. Bussey is very kind and softspoken and you can really tell he cares about his patients. He remembered that I am from Boston, and this morning he expressed his condolences for the attacks my home witnessed last week. He just goes above and beyond and I'm really lucky to have found this clinic. Would recommend to anyone!

Dr. Jeraldo told me that I either needed reading glasses or try his suggestion of having one contact for near and keep one of my normal ones for far. I asked how I could try not wanting to spend on a full box at that low strength if it doesn't work for me. He told me he'd give me one to try it out. I put it in, said I would try it for the day. He never checked anything after me putting it in. I get to the desk to leave and got charged with a "fitting fee" which cost almost as much as a full box of contacts. He didn't fit anything, he didn't check anything. He handed me a contact lens and told me to try it out. At no point did he let me know there was a fee and at no point did he check my eyes after me putting it in. Absolutely ridiculous, will be looking for a new optometrist.

I ordered my glasses, opted out of the bifocal lens as usual and then the issues started. When I came in to pick up my glasses, they were 3 times more expensive than promised. The frames were there without the lens being placed in them. (you will see why he did this in a second...) I asked why the price had gone up and He said I had to get the Progressives! I was stunned. I explained that I ordered the regular lenses, have already waited over 2 weeks and that as a consumer, isn't it up to me what I am comfortable wearing?! Then he says that that's ok, he will do me a favor and order the lenses that I wanted.(are you kidding me, A favor?!) I decided to take my business elsewhere and emailed the owner explaining that he was very dishonest with trying to up sell his products. I kindly told him to cancel the order. A week later, I receive 2 phone calls (from the receptionist) letting me know my glasses were ready. Well that put me in an uncomfortable situation...Had I not already canceled? I chalked this up to the company being desperate to retain the sale, so given these hard times, I went to pick them up. It was literally as if this man/owner/control freak was holding my glasses ransom! I walked in prepared to be uncomfortable, however, his first words were, "So you want your glasses eh?" Unbelievable treatment! Please save yourself the stress, time and money and find a reputable, honest shop. Honestly 3/4 of the stock are manufactured in China, and I choose not to support imports as much as I can.

I have been going to B.O.C. for over 20 years and am very happy with the service. The Opticians…read more(mine is Dr. MacIntosh) are very thorough and treat both my daughter and myself. My daughter has a difficult eye issue and is special needs. Dr. Lucie BERTHIAUME is excellent with her. I couldn't ask for better. When buying glasses, you get what you pay for IMO. Yes, glasses are cheaper elsewhere but I had terrible service where one of my lenses was actually warped! (I tried a different location to buy my glasses this once to save a few bucks and it was a mess) B.O.C. advised me of the problem and I had to go back to the optical shop to have them fixed! B.O.C. will work with you within your budget and provide quality eyewear. I wouldn't go anywhere else.
