I have been going to the LensCrafters at the Joliet Mall for years now. Reasons would be selection, affordability, and the people that work there. I was in this pass week and the team that took care of me was so kind, caring, helpful, professional. Big plus they all had a sense of humor.This was my team. Maria was the Pre Tester. I can't thank Amy enough. The nose piece on my glasses had been hurting the bridge of my nose for 2 weeks. I didn't have time to see about help for it until Saturday. I had been trying to adjust it myself and not wearing my glasses more than wearing them. I had a terrible headache. Amy was so kind! She replaced the pads and made the necessary adjustments. The best eye exam I've ever been given! They used the most up to date tech to make sure my eyes were healthy and prescribed glasses to fit my life style unlike cookie cutter places that give you a one size fits all approach. The team there was great and took the time to help my daughter and me. She wears contacts and the suggestions they made on the type of contacts she should wear based upon her lifestyle were priceless! We've tried cheaper places, like America's Best, and the exam that you get here is so much BETTER! Love the professional ophthalmologists here they KNOW the current medicine in eye care! Was 13 minutes late for my appointment at VisionWorks. They wouldn't except the extra 3 minutes exceeding the 10 minute "late grace period". Refused to see me so I walked out and came here to LensCrafters. These people were so nice and accommodating. They were able to fit me in for an exam within 15 minutes between other exams that were scheduled. The optometrist was very professional and thorough. Best eye exam I ever had. i was discriminated against at this Lens Crafters i was denied service based on my race. I walked in with an appointment for an eye exam scheduled for 10/29 at 10:20 am upon arrival I was instructed to have a seat in the exam area. Then an employee came to me asking for further insurance information, who I now know as Trevor, I told him I don't know what I have I think its aetna but I'm really not sure I just have the plan ID number. He said if its Aetna better health we don't accept it, I said I don't know what I have and gave him my information. He left and I presumed he was checking my information. He came back not even 2 minutes later and told me that I DID have Aetna better health insurance and because it was out of network I would have to pay out of pocket to proceed any further and I refused and left. I called other area eyeglass places asking them if they take my aetna better health insurance and I was told no to over 4 different companies. I found one that did take that insurance and I went there, upon my arrival to the company they couldn't find me in there system from the insurance i told them i had which was aetna better health. they discovered that I did not have Aetna better health but Eyemed, which lens crafters takes. (i called lens crafters later and they said they do accept eyemed) I was confused as to why Trevor would lie and tell me I had Aetna Better Health Insurance after he supposedly checked my insurance ID number. The store cameras will show that within the few short minutes I was in the store, I walked in for what should have been a routine eye exam and was sent away like a criminal. I was refused service because I did not look like the other clients in the room who were all Caucasian! He presumed that because of my race, I had government assistance insurance (that is what aetna better health is). instead of treating me like any other customer and he came to me and lied to my face, just so I could leave the store. i was treated like a second-class citizen. I am VERY heartbroken, disappointed, and disgusted with the treatment I received at this branch. The pain and trauma I feel I wouldn't want anyone else of color to go through this. This place needs to be investigated on their practices and I hope others who look like me haven't received the same treatment. read more

During COVID, all staff were wearing masks and conducted a temp check prior to appointment. When trying on frames, they sanitized each paid after I tried them on. I've been coming to this LensCrafters for 3 years and have always received good customer service but today was especially note worthy. Associate Taylor was above and beyond! She spend the better part of an hour helping me choose the perfect frames/lenses for me (and I'm picky and indecisive) not one time did I feel rushed. She also made sure I left completely happy not just with the glasses, but with an understanding of exactly the ups grades I was getting and better knowledge of progressives as I've ever only previously has single lenses. There's been a lot of dissatisfied reviews about customer service, and Taylor deserves the biggest shout out! read more

I've about had it with Lensecrafters in Joliet. They can't tint lenses to save their life. First tinting was way too light. Second tinting was great but they tinted dark brown over a scratch so there was what looked like a hair permanently stuck to the lense. Third tinting was wrong. Fourth tinting was not the same shade on both lenses. So now, I'm going to be going back to get these corrected for a fifth time. They offered to upgrade the lenses to custom ordered polarized gradient lenses in brown to rectify the situation, but we'll wait and see how these are since it takes a week for them to come in. read more

We have stopped using this lens crafters. We both had optometrist exams. The optometrist claimed I had extreme pressure on the eye. So I made a medical appointment to have it checked out. They ran me through a battery of tests at the hospital and said that my eye pressure was normal. I do not have eye insurance and this was a costly misdiagnosis. The glasses I had made, took a month to get. They are not quite right but I am not willing to wait another month or more for them to process the order. This is not the LensCrafters ease of the past. This has become nothing more than a satellite store that orders everything out. They still charge that high convenience price for something that has to be ordered. read more

This was the worst experience I have ever had when trying to purchase glasses. Salesperson Prarthna did not help me at all and refused to check to see if sizes were available to order. I had picked out two pair of glasses in which I informed her that I will need to order a different size and she told me they do not come in additional sizes. Little to her knowledge I worked in optical for over 4yr and already checked sizes prior to coming in. Since this optician which I assume was not knowledgeable or wanting to make a sell I decided to take my business elsewhere. This is terrible customer service and with the frame plus high index lenses I was going to purchase this is a terrible loss in profit. When checking out for my exam she used the wrong insurance and then informed me that they didn't find any other insurance, I made her check again and she found my correct insurance but still used the one I asked her not to use. Also... I am highly upset that no one told me until check out that they could not find my file from Aug. 2018 so they did not compare my last exam with this exam. This is highly unprofessional and I will be reporting this to the BBB and my insurance company. read more

This review is about 2 yrs too late. Again I need glasses as my old frame broke when I took the glasses off. I said maybe Lenscrafters . My son reminded me what happened last time we were there. His glasses needed adjustment and as we had bought them there I called for a next day appt. I showed up the nextday and was told that I didnt have an appt. I reminded them I had called the previous day. They were very rude about it saying you need an appt! I said I had an appt. And reminded them I had an acct and needed repair service. They stuck to their guns so I left telling them I wouldnt be back. Poor customer service. So while I currently need glasses and my insurance only will be handled by certain Opticians, I wont be using Lenscrafters again. They are also overpriced and owned by Luxottica which is a italian owned company which dominates the world optical market and is known for overcharging on everything! So the moral of the story is dont buy luxottica, dont patronize lenscrafters, and ck ur insurance company. Mine is EyeMed which is the largest in the USA. They are owned by which Italian eyewear company? 3 guesses and the first 2 dont count!!! Ridiculous monopoly! And we eyeglass/contact wearers wonder why it costs so much! Go elsewhere. read more

After having a bad experience with crappy customer service last year I decided to try again. Huge mistake! My eye exam was completed very quickly and I commented on the speed, not because I was impressed but because I was concerned. I waited approximately five days for my glasses to arrive. I immediately noticed the prescription was wrong! I questioned the sales associate Tiffany if they were possibly someone else's glasses. She verified they were mine. I explained I couldn't use them and she offered to schedule another eye appointment. I returned to unfortunately be seen by the same eye doctor who verified the prescription was wrong. They sent the glasses back to be corrected. Approximately five days later I'm called back to the shop to pick up my order. After waiting several minutes while associates frantically ran around it became evident they couldn't find my order. Tony the associate I dealt with second time questioned if I had maybe taken the glasses with me the time before.....ummm no. I was offered a discount to return after they found my glasses!! No thank you....I'm done. I requested a refund and that was completed. I then questioned Dakota why I was expected to pay for the eye exam when I didn't receive glasses from them and quite honestly I had ZERO faith the prescription would be accurate to be used at another vendor. Dakota informed me to contact Customer Service that she couldn't/wouldn't help me. Absolutely unbelievable. read more

I have contacted lenscrafters at least 10 times, even talked to an individual in customer care who promised me i would get an email with an answer to my question. So I have gotten 0 response. tried to talk to a supervisor who put me on hold and the hung up. All I want is the glasses I paid 500 dollars for thats all. Beautiful store, friendly store associates and the best selection of frames. That's the good. Picked out beautiful frames for my no line bifocals. Upgraded to no glare, blue tint to be sure they would be ideal for wearing all day at work. I work under a lot of lights and happened to notice an imperfection. Took them back and received new pair. I have since taken them back twice since then. Lensecrafters has a policy of engraving the lenses with your prescription. Those numbers while small are placed in the field of vision. It's obvious and troubling when watching television or working in an area with lots of lighting. I get a reflection of the lights back and interferes with my seeing clearly. They are horrible glasses. Frustrating and unfortunately there is nothing they can do to put that inscription elsewhere. It is standard on all their no line bifocals. Must be where bifocal starts and ends which happens to be in middle of lenses. Paid over $600 for a pair of useless glasses. I will never return. read more

I have never been so cheated. 1 hour turned into 2 days. 2 days turned into 2 weeks. 2 weeks turned into 3 and a half weeks. Now its been a month, and they still cant get the lenses to work right. First off, let me say their establishment is horrid. Their main exam room is broken, so we had to use a run down, back up room in the back. Their restrooms look like they never get cleaned, and the people there are unprofessional. I payed over $320 out of pocket, paid for the special anti-glare lenses, and waited. When i got them, my vision was so warped that i couldn't see right. They told me to wear them for a few days to get used to it. I couldn't. It very blatantly clear that if i wore these glasses i would get seriously injured or killed. I couldn't walk, drive, or read, all because the perspective of my vision was so horribly worpted. Everything that was supposed to be a square was an isosceles trapezoid. anything not directly in the center of the vision of my glasses was out of focus. I went back and asked if i could simply draw a diagram of what i was seeing. they refused to let me use a simple pen and paper to draw the issue. they avoided the topic all together. How can you fix something when i cant explain whats wrong??? i asked to do this over 5 times, and still they refused to let me. even the so called doctor said no. then they told me they were going to fix the issue by using a different materiel for the lenses, and adjusting the curvature of the lens. however, they cant do that in the store, so they had to send it in to a factory and said it would take 2 weeks. 2 weeks later i called and they said it still wasn't in. i ask why, they told me it would take 2 weeks. I told them, its been 2 weeks. they said, no it hasn't.....WHAT? they said 2 weeks = 14 days. It was over 14 days by now. but wait, they neglected to tell me that they meant 14 BUSINESS DAYS!!!! 2 weeks and 14 business days are NOT the same thing!!! so i waited even longer, over 3 and a half weeks. I called to see if they were in yet. they were, but they NEVER called me to tell me that that had arrived!!! They said they did, but they didn't!!! So i got my new lenses that they were sure would have fixed the problem, but NO. They are still just as bad as before. Only now, i waited even more of my time. My current glasses are 5 years old. They are falling apart. I NEED new glasses NOW. But no. same old story. "wear them for a few days to get used to it". I have NO hand eye coordination, and no foot eye coordination with these new glasses.don't they understand i could get killed if i wore these? in less than 1 hour of wearing them i almost fell 5 times because i couldn't even tell how far away a step was from the other. I was calm, never was rude, was cool and collective with them through all of this. I never yelled and i gave them the benefit of the doubt. No more. I'm sick of this. I didn't pay over $300 for them to give me the run around. read more

Well I crossed to line, I finally had to get glasses, now I can see my ass from a hole in the ground, just don't know if I'll know the difference, I Had an eye exam $93.00, frames $99.00, darkening lenses $271.00, so for $4.71.00 I can see again, The people in this place were the most professional I have seen, they were friendly, even though the place was packed, It took about two hours, It's better than the one in Orland Park where they are the most unfriendly, unorganized people I have ever seen. read more

I went to this location today to see if I could get my glasses adjusted due to an issue I was having. My optometrist has limited hours due to Covid. Although I did not purchase my glasses at lenscrafters, my previous experience had been good with the franchise. I asked for help to have my glasses adjusted as they were not useful & presenting a problem. The front desk person expressed an attitude when I simply asked for help which I offered to pay for. The person was abrupt & dismissive & after I'd identified myself as legally blind she did perform a minimal adjustment which again I offered to pay for. I found the customer experience to be negative. Very disappointed. In times of Covid, I would think the customer service would be key to the success of LensCrafters. In this particular case the person that waited on me was not customer centric. Please note, I did offer to pay for the service! read more

Floor manager was really rude. I asked if they need to get my name and how they will know that I'm next and was told that "because I'm the floor manager and I know who's next" with an attitude. Before that, somebody was assisting me and the floor manager used the computer that she's using to assist another customer. I think they need to be more nice to their CLIENTS. We don't come here as a favor to them....we come here because we need help so we can see better. read more

Please Note: My review is about the product sold at Lens Crafters, not the people who provided my services (who were wonderful). I have no idea what this continuous friggin haze is on my glasses but if I don't have the alcohol wipes they gave me (and I'm running out of them quickly), when I try to wipe my glasses with just a tissue or my shirt tail, it just smears the haze and makes it worse. I purchased my glasses a few years ago. I have tried many other eye glass places, but wanted to try LensCrafters, as I thought they were top of the line. I have never had such problems at other places as I have had with LensCrafters. First of all, the associates are rude and want to brush you off immediately. Their first response is to say, "no, sorry we can't do that." My one lense had marks and scratches on it. (I am either wearing my glasses or they are in the eyeglass holder). I went there to ask them to fix it. They said, "no, we can't do anything about this." I asked them to replace it then. After some arguing, they finally agreed to replace it for free. And then they proceeded to tell me that my eyelashes were causing the marks on my lense. Seriously! I have eyelashes on both eyes, but yet only the one eye was causing marks. Unbelievable. I have another mark on my lense, same one. But yet again, "no, sorry, we cant help you. You will have to buy new frames and new lenses". Guess what? Im not going to LensCrafters again. read more

The staff is so friendly and nice here. We came here because my mom has gone to this location before and had great care. They have this system where you can see glasses on your face on a computer to decide which frames look best. And you can get same day glasses. We've visited Lenscrafters several times over the past few years and I must say they are consistent. My opinion is that their process is horrible. Customer service is marginal. We've spent hours waiting around because of their inefficiencies. Their price promotions are very misleading and not competitive. I don't mind paying a fair markup, but they gouge, so buyer beware. The overall experience is akin to visiting a car dealership. If you're at the West Field Mall in Bolingbook, try visiting Vision Works instead. read more

My family has had our eye care needs taken care of here for several years, and we've always been happy. This past week, I was particularly pleased with the service. I needed some special order lenses which would take 1 week. About 5 days later I received a call from the lab manager. He explained that they had issues with both the 1st & 2nd set of lenses they ordered. Look, stuff happens. I was just so pleased that they took the initiative to keep me informed. To take it a step further, that lab manager took it upon himself to go get the lenses from another LensCrafters location and called me to say they were ready on day 8. I am giving two stars because I really like the doctor. The real draw to Lenscrafters was the glasses in an hour deal. They called me come in before the end of the year to use my benefits. I made an appointment, I get there and they tell me that they no longer do glasses in an hour. I asked why I wasn't told this over the phone and they just made light of it and said we try to tell people when they make an appointment. So I left, this was at a busy time for me and I was frustrated with that answer. So my son and I make an appointment together in February. He ordered contacts. They don't exstend themselves in any way. No "free" starter kit for the contacts anymore. So I ordered my glasses and they said a week to ten days. Three weeks later I called them since I hadn't recieved a call. The person on the other end says they are not in. She was just going to hang up, so I said can you please track them, I told her I ordered them 3 weeks ago. So she checks, she says my glasses are in and they tried calling me but my phone wasn't working (there had been no interuption in my phone service). So I told her there hadn't been any problems on my end, maybe they dialed wrong, and did they try again? She said, no, it is our policy to call once and if we can't get through, we just wait for the customer to call us. I couldn't believe it. So they were just sitting there waiting for me to call, and then when I did, she initially said they were not in. Then she was about to hang up up and leave me to wait for who knows how long again, until I called back? I picked them up today, the girl at the desk and that helped me was far from friendly. I asked to talked to the manager and politely told her my experience. She was nice and apologetic. I doubt very much I will ever go back there. There are far too many places I could go to let this place have my business when they care so little about their customers. read more

The optometrists are fine at Lencrafters. Their machines are good quality and the prescriptions are usually accurate. HOWEVER, do NOT let them sell you on "anti-reflective coatings" and other such garbage. It will rub off in a few months and Lenscrafters will NOT tell you that nor will they stand behind their expemsive lenses. They will offer to replace the lenses at a cost that insures THEY will not take the hit even though it was their policies of pushing these coatings on you. THOUSANDS of people are complaining about this problem and you can find those complaints at several consumer sites on line. Yet Lenscrafter seems to not care. Almost all of these major market opticians and eyewear shops are owned by the same big company you never hear about. Apparently they figure you have no option, so who cares if you pay good money for lenses you cant see through because the cheap coatings rub off. read more

I finally gave in and decided I needed contact lens for work. I really didn't feel like waiting for months to get in to see my family's optometrist, so I chose Lenscrafters. My appointment was on a Wednesday evening, and it wasn't very busy. I only had to wait 10 mins before I was taken in back for some tests, and then I only had to wait less than 10 more minutes to see the doctor. The staff was very friendly and professional. I was very impressed with Dr. Paul Bastermajian. He was very attentive to my needs and concerns. He personally took the time to show me how to put them in and take them out because I've never used contacts before. He was very patient with me while I practiced. Also, I was a little nervous about the cost because vision isn't covered under my health insurance. It was less than $100 for a basic eye exam and to get fitted for the contacts. I was expecting to pay way more than that! I'll definitely go back there again because it was a very positive experience! I highly recommend them! read more

Awful service: rude and poor quality. After their exam, my glasses were made with the wrong prescription. (I had purchased their extended warranty.) They said to give it time for my eyes to adjust (they didn't double check the Rx in the file). I went back to have them fix it and they were very curt with me. They charged me for the fix (shame on me for paying it). In less than a year, a crack developed in the corner of one of the lens. In more than 2 decades of wearing glasses, this was the first time this has ever happened to me (or any friends or family). I went back again to have them fix it, and they said "that happens sometimes when the lab doesn't cut the lens accurately". Relieved they admitted fault, I was SHOCKED when they said the fix would cost me $25.00, and was "that okay?" Um, NO! it's NOT okay! I firmly expressed my displeasure and they didn't charge me for the fix. However their machine was down, blah blah blah, and I had to go back two more times to get them fixed. To top it off, they didn't even clean the lenses when they gave them to me. Rude! Never going back! read more
