Before even applying, I found it very difficult to find honest reviews on these guys. I think the people who work at LenderFi, especially Ryan, come in a write positive reviews about themselves all over the internet to offset all the negative ones. Even on here, there is one real review and right after is a fabulously positive one. I read some of this stuff and it sounds like their own people are writing the reviews, no detail, just "person's name here, great service". They were lacking in many aspects of customer service which I would expect is because they are a loan factory and just try to go through mortgages at whatever pace they want to. Except to responding to emails, which once I got a loan processor, Samantha, she did immediately respond to my emails every time, don't expect any other contact in regards to your loan.
So, I recently refinanced with them and I will tell you exactly how it is. First of all, let me say, I am never trusting BBB ratings again, they've got to be complete crap if this place is an A. Someone with an A rating should have stellar service.
Second, they do have low rates but you pay for it in poor service.
I have excellent credit and applied through their website, the instantly approved aspect is a marketing scheme to get you to apply, I was not instantly approved. I was contacted a few days later by Monica, she was very nice but seemed flustered like she doesn't exactly know what she's doing. My loan app hadn't been approved yet but she told me she locked me in at 3.625% (without any appraisal?). I had found through their website that evening, that rates dropped and I was qualified for 3.5% so I contacted Monica and told her that I want to be locked in at 3.5% and since my loan hasn't even been approved yet I don't think this should be a problem. It was a lot of hassle getting documentation to be locked in at 3.5% because NOW they wanted me to get an appraisal done before they "re-locked" me...huh? I demanded to get some sort of committment for the 3.5% before forking up the $400 for an appraisal. Ryan sent an email saying they would honor it after the appraisal, which they did. I was finally locked in for 30 days @ 3.5% after about 3 weeks from the date of my application. After days of not hearing from anyone, I called Monica who told me I would be assigned to a loan processor and should be hearing from him/her soon. Waited a few more days and no one contacted me so I called again and she gave me my processors name who contacted me that day. I thought at this point, things would go smoothly and I would be updated regularly as to what is going on, wrong! They really do not make an effort to contact or update you about your loan. Sometimes I wondered if I never called them if my loan would have just gone by the wayside. I would have to contact them on a daily basis to find out what is going on with my refinance. They took their time getting the refinance processed even though I gave them all the paperwork immediately and there were no issues with any of it. My refi did not close within 30 days, closer to 60 days, due to NO fault of my own, but I still got the 3.5%. Since this is a refinance and the market was dropping, I didn't stress too much but if I was buying a property, I would have been raging because I most likely would have lost the purchase. If you are buying, especially first time home buyers, I wouldn't go with these guys, refinance in a dropping market no big deal. Refi in a rising market and you will be stressed out of your mind. Since they were taking their sweet time and rates dropped during the process, I tried to get a lower rate after my 30-day lock ran out but they said that they had "extended" my lock and I could not lock in on a new, lower rate. Really?? They extended my lock? If the market was rising would they have still done this? I think not, they would have made me lock in at a higher rate. They tried to screw me at the very end, after I had signed all the papers and the day before my loan was suppose to fund, with some b.s. that they found "last minute" and I thought "Here is the bait & switch" but eventually they let it go and I got my loan. After all is said and done, I didn't receive any paperwork on who my loan was purchased by and who I'm suppose to make payments to and so I emailed my loan processor who immediately sent me the transfer agreement for my loan which was suppose to, by law, be sent at least 15 days before the effective date (e.g. - first of the month for the month I'm suppose to make my first new payment), it was after this time frame that I even requested it. Again, if I hadn't contacted them would I have received it? Who was I going to pay my loan to? Basically, I wouldn't recommend these guys unless you are willing to get a low rate at the cost of your frustration. If you are buying a property and need to close the deal in a set amount of time, go with someone else. read more
