LOL this should be zero stars now really, interesting the 'President' of Lenderfi Ryan responded to my candid review about three years ago here on Yelp to "make things right" but about three years later as of June 2024 I have NOT gotten a single call or email or anything from him about HOW he could make things right after the ridiculous amount of time and money I wasted trying to do my refi. A word of advice Ryan, when responding to try and save face for your company (if you are indeed the President--to which I have doubts too lol), you should actually follow-through with your word or else it's just unprofessional and incompetent. But hey, I didn't actually expect for you to truly make anything right as its a reflection of my horribly shady experience with Lenderfi to begin with. This was my first time refinancing and I don't have many friends who have gone through the home buying process to review things with so I spent a lot of time researching. I was already ready to lock down with a different lender this time for refinancing after going on Costco, Bankrate, NerdWallet, CreditKarma. And while the interest rate was great, the OTHER LENDER was crystal clear about the fees being $3500. LUCKILY, I shopped around one more time right as I was about to sign away (the other lender had already pulled my credit report). I got a hold of Michael from LenderFi and he called me right away to answer some questions. He was confident he could beat whatever I had, based on all my information, but I still wasn't sure. Michael also explained other scenarios to me and encouraged me to not buy down the rate in my specific situation, and also continued to explain other things further which I couldn't understand from just the internet alone. We went over the costs, Michael was able to get me the same rate the OTHER LENDER offered, but HALF the fees. On top of that, LenderFi was able to provide me lender credits to cover those fees. I was able to get a no-cost refinance that made sense (let me make clear it was actually no-cost - the fees were NOT rolled into my loan). I just signed all the paper work today to complete my refinance. I compared the Closing Disclosures to what I had with my ORIGINAL mortgage and I appreciate how much easier and clear-cut the cost breakdown was. The fees and line items were super simple - there weren't a thousand lines, and nothing ambiguous. My old Closing Disclosure (Costco Lender) had a crazy amount of line items for things that weren't clearly explainable. Even the comparable items, ex. notary were cheaper (and they came to me! Last time I had to go to the notary and it cost twice as much)! The entire process was transparent for me which I greatly appreciate. The transparency they were able to give me versus the other lenders gave me so much less anxiety about the entire thing. I totally recommend Michael Urnecli and Rebecca Jackson any time. read more

I decided to give LenderFi a chance after reading positive reviews on Reddit and I couldn't have made a better choice. Fees were very reasonable, communication was excellent and there were zero surprises. I kept waiting for the rug to be pulled out from under me, some hidden fee or expense but it never came. LenderFi delivered the lowest rate and closing cost out of any of the other lenders, including credit unions, that I tried working with. Having the notary visit me at home at my leisure was a nice touch! I didn't have to find a sitter for my kids which made that aspect that much easier. read more

To take advantage of lower refinance mortgage rates, I started shopping around. Got rates from multiple different sources (including big international banks, local credit unions, and many online lenders). Credit report is not impacted if getting rates within 14 days of first credit check. Nobody even came close to match the rates offered by LenderFi, let alone beat them. Ryan/David were very helpful in helping me understand my options, and also advice me on what would be better for me. The team is super responsive and gave me the locked loan estimate document in 1 day. The entire process was easy, and the online uploading of documents was really helpful. Although, I had to do a bit of extra legwork than expected, but it saved my hundreds of dollars in unnecessary fees. Rebecca was able to get me my closing disclosure in a little over 3 weeks but I was not in a hurry as the rate was locked, and it was just a refinance, but if needed, LenderFi will be able to close out the loan much sooner than that. She was also very patient in helping me understand the different numbers on the document. Mortgages can get real tricky real fast. Do shop around, but I'm sure you'll end up working with LenderFi. LenderFi delivered on all fronts. Speed, communication, and no fuss. I have refinanced in the past with other lenders requiring months of processing time. When I chose to go with LenderFi, I was part-way through a refinance process with another lender that convinced me an appraisal was needed ($550). After getting the appraisal, this other lender asked me to create a legal notarized document for a shared driveway. I'm sorry, but what?? For a refinance, you need me to create a legal shared use document, go over to my neighbors and convince them to sign this, and have a notary oversee the process? Not worth it to save 0.5% on my interest. I didn't care if I already had $550 sunk cost on the appraisal, I had wasted over 10 weeks, and this was too much of a hassle. Michael Urnecli at LenderFi looked closely at my situation and helped find a path where no appraisal was needed (I learned that lenders like to charge for an appraisal early in the process to encourage commitment, even when an appraisal is not necessary due to a good loan/equity ratio). He also assured me that I could contact him whenever I had questions, even late in the evening. The few questions I had were responded to quickly and thoughtfully. Much better than previous refinance experiences I have had where I felt like just another nuisance to the lender. The whole process, from getting a quote to closing, took just under 3 weeks. They requested a handful of documents in the beginning, (the typical W2's, paystubs, ID's, etc.) and never asked for a single document after that. The whole process involved submitting those initial documents, signing three sets of loan estimates that had minor updates through the process, and then scheduling a notary to come over a sign the title docs, etc. It was the easiest refinance I've heard of to date. Finally, they exceeded the quote I found on the Nerdwallet Refinance tool, and gave me an even lower fee for the aggressively low interest rate. This was a best-case refinance scenario. I would definitely recommend LenderFi to friends/family. read more

They had a fair price on the first offer, unlike their competitors who wanted to 'beat' competing offers. Then, when the appraiser from hell tried to ruin my loan, they stuck with me, texting me outside work hours and even getting the CEO of the company involved in advocating for me. It was the hardest refi I have ever been through, but I made it through because Lenderfi did not give up on my loan. Huge props to Daniel. Total Waste of my time. Two thumps down! After completing the application process, uploading a numbers of documents, and receiving a rate quote LenderFi goes silent for 3 days. Then I get a message from the loan rep Anthony Assi that they are busy and their disclosure documentation will be out is 2 days. Now this message: Hi XXXX, we are not working on jumbo loans at this time due to the high touch nature of the product. Since we cannot offer the level of service all of our clients deserve, we are choosing not to put you in a position where your experience with LenderFi is sub par. My suggestion is check with a big bank on their jumbo products. Too late I have wasted 5 hours of time and my experience is very sub par. Take a hike LenderFi! Your service stinks. read more

My first re-finance I was able to find lender-fi from a reputable website that gives good overall recommendations. I did the quote process with a few different sites and how I came to pick lender-fi was they locked the best rate available to me. Overall I would rather have gone to the dentist or to a circus because there was less than stellar communication. Every time I wanted a response was like pulling teeth and as much as I hate to insult someone I worked with, the lack of skills to follow up or even apologize for the delay in communication was sad. Lender-fi produced a good rate that saved me the most money so I ultimately decided to go with them for savings sake so it helped me but at what price... I hope I don't have the same problems down the road with them because I still don't have all the answers to my questions but C for effort will do the trick because that seems to be their business practice. read more

My letter to LenderFI below expresses what is a real issue with this company. I would seriously look around before using them as they are very lax in getting back to you regarding your refinance and unfortunately for me I also invested money. I cannot believe The Better Business Bureau gives them a A+. Read my letter to them below and make your own decision regarding whether you want to use them or not. My letter: Hello, I have made several inquiries regarding my refinance and have not heard back from any of you especially you Ryan who I spoke to last week regarding the refinance of my home hence I have come to the conclusion that your company has no interest in continuing the refinance of my home nor answering my query about the amount of available funds needed to continue the refinance and with that I am terminating my relationship with your company. My hope had been that your company would be up front with me and respond to me in a timely and professional manner which unfortunately you have not been. I have spent money on this refinance that could have been put to better use. In the future when you deal with potential clients and especially those who you have started the refinance process update them, return their calls and be honest if something has occurred that makes the refinance an impossibility especially in the early stages. Please do not leave a client hanging as that is very unprofessional. It does the client no good to continually tell them you are going to check into something only to never receive a follow up phone call letting a client know where things stand but I tend to feel that the employees reflect those who run the company and if the owner or President makes statements in regards to calling a client back and does not then it does not surprise me when the employees do the same thing. Please when dealing with your clients in the future please try to extend them that courtesy as it will make the clients life a lot easier then ignoring them or stating that you will get back to them and not doing so. I have done refi a few times before with my previous house. We just purchased this house a little over one year ago and I am trying to refi with a lower interest and no cash out. This refi process is the easiest I had so far. They didn't constantly request additional documents like other lenders did and they even waived the appraisal of my house. I am pretty familiar with lenders and how various types of lenders / banks work. First the bad: Lenderfi is not for everyone. Some people want the best rates and want their hand held every step of the way (good luck). If this is you, visit your local credit union or community bank and you MAY get this type of service but your rate will likely be a lot higher. The Great: Rates are some of the best out there. The service was well above expectations - they were honest and upfront about possible hurdles and answered all of my questions. They went the extra mile on what was a more difficult file. I have recently worked with American Interbanc as well - given the two, I would use Lenderfi.com hands down. Everyone I worked with seemed knowledgable and were extremely friendly. The 2nd set of people I dealt with were Anthony Assi & Jason. The 1st 2 people weren't involved, Vivian/Cristian they just disappeared; then came Anthony/Jason. I was lied to & treated unprofessionally & inappropriately by both of them. I called today 5/14/18 to ask ?'s & the guy who answered, Richard, hung up on me. I was able to leave a msg for Ryan Scholer, with a very courteous man & I was told Mr Scholer is their CEO. The appraisal did not happen & they fraudulently took $450 out of my bank anyhow. I have filed FRAUD against them & Lenderfi with my bank. It appears that there are some very dishonest people there. I just want my $450 back. They DO NOT deserve any stars. NO STARS!!!!! YET I WAS FORCED TO LEAVE ONE. Yelp needs to change their rating system for negative reports. read more

RYAN SCHOLER is the best! This review won't even do justice to how efficient Ryan is, he really wants to help people and is genuine in his dealings with me. When other big lenders won't approve me, or would approve me for a much lower purchase price, he was there to save the day. I explained my situation to Ryan why I don't look very good on paper, and he understood and pre approved me for the purchase price that I know I can afford. We purchased our first home April of 2015, we almost lost hope after our first escrow fell off, but Ryan was there for us and just calmed us down. Also, he made sure I did not overpay for my escrow fees, and asked the escrow company to take out unneccesary charges. He gave me lender credits, and covered my closing costs too! I feel like given my situation (which was not the best during this home buying experience) he made it all possible. I definitely recommend LENDERFI. Given that LenderFi isn't as well-known as lenders like Quicken or Bank of America, I was initially skeptical if using them would pan out. However, after refinancing with them I can say it worked out great! I got a lower rate with them (few points), versus using one of the larger outfits, by which saving about $17,000. The drawbacks: by default they offer a 30 day lock on rates, which is shorter than other larger outfits, and puts pressure to make sure everything is completed correctly and expeditiously in that small window before the rate changes. Also, at times the reps come off as somewhat inexperienced and still learning the ropes. However, they were very responsive and always seemed to have my best interest at heart during the process. I closed within about 3 weeks with an unbeatable rate. I'd recommend them based on the low interest rate opportunities and the well-meaning (though somewhat green) customer service team. read more

These guys were great! Mark Bareng in particular was very patient in helping me to understand what was needed and helped me anticipate anything and everything the VA underwriter might ask for in order to push our VA Loan through in 30 days!! I was able to upload documentation to their website whenever I had time--weekends/evenings, saving me time and aggravation. My advice is to learn everything you can about obtaining a mortgage before engaging with any lender; there were a few things I didn't know which caused some miscommunications along the way. These guys offered us the best rate in Orange County with the lowest closing cost. I'd recommend them to anyone, especially if you're doing a VA loan, because Amber knows her stuff. She totally impressed out real estate agent, Keith Jorgensen, which is no small feat. They also helped put us in touch with Steven, at Universal Credit--without his expertise, we'd never have been able to raise our credit score in time to lock in the rate. Utter rudeness of Mr. lending manager Anthony Assi!!!! One cannot ask him a question twice because he' doesn't have time to respond or rather should say that respond logically! Being in a mortgage industry when I asked him a logical question on a loan appraisal I get to hear I don't know the reason but I'm in the business from 19 years and closing 100 loans a month!!! How can one relate an appraisal question with number of loans he does! That's called arrogance! Guy needs a serious lesson/ classroom training on how to talk with a customer! read more

I would go lower than 1 star if I could. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. You are foolish if you make them the only company you get a quote from. It was all sales and scam. It was fast talk. Not answering any questions directly. The people that get mortgages from this company are likely the people who cannot keep up with someone who talks fast, and think that means the sales person knows a lot. it's likely people who fall victim to scams easily. I hate to say it, but once again the people that can least afford to get ripped off are the people who are going to be using this company and getting ripper off. I noticed that the vast majority of people give this company an extraordinarily low rating. Or... people give them a perfect rating and describe a perfect, magical experience. But every one of those good ratings includes an employee's first and last name. Here's what I think: Those high ratings are primarily fake reviews. Many companies reward employees with some sort of incentive program if they are mentioned on yelp with a very high review. Not just mortgage companies. Many companies do that. The person I talked to was ALL SALES AND SCAM and seemed to have no ethics or credibility, I would encourage you to listen to the people who have given this company a low score. If you talk to LenderFi about a mortgage, PLEASE do not make them the only company you talk too! And please be prepared for a scam. read more
