Stewed chicken, roti, and doubles! Everything was so good. Highly recommend! There are options for dhalpurie/ buss up shut. The dough so soft - a great vessel to soak up those sauces! I ordered some party trays and the staff were so friendly - one even helped me take a few trays to my car even though I told him I was parked a bit far (as the medical centre customers have taken up many of the parking spaces in this plaza). read more

These aren't the prettiest photos but I had to include something. My other half knows how much of a foodie I am; so when his work crew ordered lunch, he took advantage of the daily special and bought me some doubles. The bag was a little greasy but I didn't let that stop me from digging in . The doubles were superb . Considering they sat in his lunch bag all night they weren't soggy or anything . Flavor wise I personally found them on the sweeter side. I thought they were sizeable and a good value for the price. I really enjoyed them and I'll definitely be back to try them fresh! Update: I was able to visit in person today and wow was I ever impressed. I had the regular doubles and goat doubles, the curry duck, bake & Saltfish and pholourie. The pholourie was magical. So fluffy and both the hot sauce and tamarind sauce paired perfectly. Both the doubles were filled with stuffing and had that sweetness I so enjoyed last time. The bake & Saltfish was light and airy. We decided to try Lena's since they have a number of good reviews. The visit will be our only trip there. We ordered doubles, boneless curried chicken and jerked chicken, both with rice and peas. We've consumed a million doubles. The bread on these was overly greasy and chewy, and put together like a taco with one piece folded over the contents. The flavour of the filling was not up to what you would expect (or want) and yet this was the only saucy item in the order. The chicken in both dishes seemed old and completely lacked flavour. The curry had no sauce at all and was very dry to eat. We've had quite a lot of curry and jerk both at home and at many different restaurants. This jerk was the worst we've ever eaten. It was bland, dry and definitely not grilled or even baked. If guessing, I'm thinking it was stewed earlier in the week and dipped in heavily diluted sauce. The colour of the rice and peas was dark brown and had only one bean. Retail items seemed aged and the dining area needs a good cleaning. read more

I wanted to have doubles from a long time and finally did it . Doubles is kind of a Caribbean dish and is so yum . The flat bread made of flour is deep fried and cooked chickpeas are added as a filling. They also add some sweet and sour sauces which enhances the flavour . Will definitely try this place again . After checking into our hotel, we decided to look for a place for dinner. We were tired from the drive and wanted something quick to eat. We yelped around and found this place with high reviews. So off we went... The restaurant is small but comfortable, with seating being comprised of two regular tables and a long corner booth. The ordering counter also has a plastic partition that goes from one end to the other. The rightmost walls have long paintings while the leftmost wall has framed pictures. Daughter had the stew chicken boneless rice and thought it was tasty but it was nothing to write home about. She said that it tasted like takeout that she could get in NY. Hubs ordered the goat doubles. I saw it and didn't want to try it at all because I don't like gamey food. Hubs didn't get to have it until 2 weeks later. We were all tired from traveling all day, so we weren't that hungry. He said that he wished that he had it that day, though. It still tasted pretty good after reheating it. He thought the meat was flavorful and not too gamey. He had no idea what the filling was but it was better than the standard potatoes. He wouldn't hesitate to order it again. Lastly, I had the duck roti. The duck was ok but I didn't care for the roti because there were lots of crushed split peas on it. They all fell off as I was attempting to eat the roti. For a cold night, this place has lots of flies. They were flying around us and it was annoying. Maybe, it's because I was tired but I didn't care for this place. I liked the Jerk Chicken Roti that I had here. It wasn't too spicy for me, but it had a little kick. My partner liked their aloo puri chicken which was mild for her palate. The person here was very nice as well. Would highly recommend for rotis. read more

I've always drove past this place eager to try it, and I am so thankful that I finally did! I got their stew chicken, Dhal, and rice. I always liked Dhal growing up because of the creamy element it can add to a dish so I thought, why not!? The chicken was so tender! You bite into it & it completely melts in your mouth. The rice was a right balance between soft and starchy, it disguised itself as a rice & peas kind of texture - very nice! The coleslaw on the side was a nice touch since it added freshness & coolness. The outside is not at all what you'd think it'd look like on the inside. The inside is absolutely beautiful with all the artwork & furniture! My only critique is how they portray their specials. Friendly staff. Had aloo pie a couple times, roti and doubles. For the aloo pie, best to take it out of the wrapper right away and have it. It is excellent when it's fresh and still crispy. The wrapper steams it up and then it gets soggy. read more

THEEEEEE BESTEST doubles of life. Their doubles are absolutely amazing. My hubby and I wanted to quick snack after mini putting with family and this place caught our attention. Hubby ordered the goat double and I had the chicken double. Both extra spicy. Ouuu it was such a nice spice. SO flavorful. Husband said my chicken was a bit too dry but the chickpeas and the roti was just so amazing that I didn't care. Cannot wait to come here again. read more

Great doubles and the spice level is just right. I ordered a set of doubles including a goat double which was boneless. Both had good flavour to them. Place is clean and friendly. Had some of my favourite Caribbean drinks including peardrax . They only take cash or debit so keep that in mind when visiting. read more

This place is awesome! Tucked away in a little plaza in Ajax, this restaurant has authentic West Indian food to satisfy all your cravings. I ordered a jerk chicken meal as well as two doubles. When Lena's Ajax opened we were excited to have a roti shop around the corner. I catered an order for a family event and when my husband went to pick up the food (on a hot summer day) they brought the food out of multiple cars that were sitting in the parking lot. They polouri didnt have tamrind sauce and the owner doesnt seem to care much about keeping customers happy. We've been back a handful of times because it's close by, but my last straw was when I went to pick up a couple paratha roti and it had coarse black hair and a piece of dhal pouri rolled up in it.
