Decent Food, Disappointing Value The food at Yardie's is decent--But for roughly $27, the portion size was shockingly small. I received a small serving of ackee & saltfish, three dumplings, and a tiny half-cup of provisions. The flavors were good, but the value is not. The serving was so conservative that it barely felt like a complete meal, especially for the price. I was left dissatisfied and still hungry. Went for a walk with my dog in the neighborhood and came across this Jamaican restaurant located at the corner of Brock Rd and Kingston Rd. There's a small dining area to eat and one table for 2 patrons outside the store. We ordered the Jerk chicken dinner $13.85 and the curry goat dinner $18.85. The jerk chicken was the star of the show. The chicken had a nice charr on the outside and the meat was juicy, full of flavour and had a nice smoked bbq taste. There's rice and beams with 2 pieces of plantain and small coleslaw served with the dinners. The goat curry had lots of sauce it spilled out of the box! Don't swing your bag or else you lose all the precious savoury curry sauce. The goat was tender and no strong gamey taste. Rice is a must for this dish as it will get salty eating it alone. Overall we enjoyed our first experience here and will come back and get the jerk chicken and jerk pork next time. Lots of patrons coming in and out for takeout. Support local! read more

I tried the Jerk Chicken with Rice & Peas and it was pretty good. The chicken tasted fresh and tender but I was a little disappointed with the coleslaw, which ended up just being cooked onions. I'm unsure if I'll be back here, but it was definitely worth trying! read more

Yardies is close enough to home for me to walk to and very convenient for me to stop by and pick up some delicious Jamaican food. You can probably tell by the number of pictures I've posted, I go there very often! Their food is always delicious, with generous portions. I think I've tried everything on their menu since my initial review and I've never been disappointed. Their jerk is on point, along with the curry goat, oxtail, and stew peas. Their soups, different every day, are delicious. Everything is good! I've been there twice this week, having the Fried Chicken, Beef Pumpkin Soup, and Stew Chicken. I think I've worked my way through their entire menu! It was all very tasty! In addition to their regular menu, they often offer some unique dishes for lunch on Fridays. It's all good! Bought a small jerk chicken meal, the chicken was pink inside and smelled bad. There was no oxtail gravy or any kind of gravy. Rice was dry. Couldn't finish eating my meal. Not ordering here again. read more

However I would appreciate actual meat pieces in the soup and not all cut up dumpling taking up the whole container. Stew peas were good. Yardies is a cute little West Indian joint up in pickering, off of Brock Road. There are no shortage of West Indian places up here, but since it's close to me I decided to try Yardies. I've had the jerk chicken and the stew chicken both were FANTASTIC! I liked the stew chicken the best, personally. Their rice n peas is probably the best I've ever had, and their plantain is delicious as well. The best part is everything is reasonably priced! They also have specials as well and you can get a really great meal for a really great price. I'll definitely be going back to Yardies quite a bit! read more

I had the Oxtail Stew on rice and peas. It was absolutely delicious. The meat was tender and just melted like butter when chewing. The fat (my fav part) was so soft and flavourful. The sides were slaw and hot sauce, both great. The small cost me around $11+ tax. I almost went for the large but good thing I didn't because the small was more than enough. The gravy on this oxtail, my god. Second to none. I'll be back again to try something else. Good portions, clean space, nice staff and a large variety of food. read more
