The owner took me under her wing and promised to put together a lovely bouquet in an adorable duck vase. Our classmate had raised a number of ducks & we felt this would cheer her. Great communication over the several days and a photo was sent to me for approval before the arrangement was delivered. So happy I chose to call the local florist directly! Garden Gate Flower Shop did a great job on creating two flower sprays & the cost was reasonable…read morethat I ordered for my father's funeral, but it was such an UNEXPECTED surprise! Please let me tell you why...Because I live out of state I couldn't get to the Flower Shop until 3 days before the funeral, which included the weekend, to order the funeral flowers. It was short notice for the order and the Owner Stacy said she could get all of the flowers EXCEPT for the white spider mums and the red gerbera daisies. I had a picture of the flower spray on my phone that I wanted, and in my opinion, the spider mums and the red gerbera daisies along with the red roses were what made this spray especially beautiful and without them it would not stand out as I had hoped! I sadly accepted the fact that Stacy would have to substitute the spider mums and the red gerberas with similar flowers and I was truly disappointed when I left the shop that day. To make matters worse, later that afternoon I called Stacy at the flower shop and asked if she could add an additional ribbon to the spray that had, "Great Papa" written on it. She told me she could add a ribbon that had "Great Grandpa" written on it (one that she already had in her shop) but her employee who made the ribbons was ill & so I couldn't get the specialized ribbon. Again, I was very disappointed. So, on the day of the funeral, TO MY GREAT SURPRISE, I walked into the funeral home to see the most beautiful red and white flower casket spray and vertical spray on & near my father's casket that included the white spider mums and the red gerbera daisies! And to top it off the third ribbon on the casket spray had "Great Papa" written on it just as I had requested. I was elated and very thankful - Stacy pulled off what seemed impossible by calling around to several florists to get the flowers I wanted as well as the special ribbon! Thank you, Stacy! I even paid an extra $5 to add a mylar balloon which they failed to include. When I called to complain they have the audacity to tell me they don't sell mylar balloons, so I asked why the advertise them on their website and her response was it was Teleflora's fault not theirs, I placed my order on Lee's website not Teleflora's so that's BS! They still went ahead and charged me and said they had put in extra flowers to makeup for the $5....... HELLOOOOO I didn't get the flowers I paid for let alone extra flowers!!! They couldn't even put a ribbon around the vase, I mean REALLY??? you're a flower shop and you don't have any ribbon??? I was charged 93.28 to my card, may not be much to some but it was much for me. On 12/26, I called to make sure my order was correct and if I could get a receipt for my payment. The two girls who spoke to me on the phone, were terrible and treated me with total disrespect. I am 65 years old, and they were talking down to me like they were scolding a little child. Yelling at me, "we do this every day, the flowers will be where they're supposed to be on the day they're supposed to be there!!!" Her funky attitude was so much to the extent that I had to tell the girl on the phone to watch her tone with me. The other girl was in the background, "yeah, yeah" in that girl's support. I was a paying customer asking reasonable questions. What's wrong with these people? It appeared they wanted to argue and fight with me. Complete attitude adjustments are needed, and customer service etiquette is very much lacking for these girls. Not that I care, but you will be out of business if they treat customers like this. I will never order from Butchart again.

When I learned that a dear friend of mine in Kansas (I am in California) had been transferred to hospice out of nowhere (it seemed to me), I immediately wanted to send something to brighten what would ultimately be her last days. After reading reviews, I found this shop, and sent an email well after hours to explain the situation and the sort of arrangement I was looking for. Nancy responded immediately, which resulted in me asking if she was willing to possibly print an actual letter for me, to send with the arrangement (in addition to the usual card), since there was no time to actually mail anything. Nancy immediately agreed, and so I forwarded my letter, which she assured me she would send on cardstock and have delivered first thing the next morning, and so she did, and she created a gorgeous arrangement for which I probably should've paid 30% to 50% more. My friend was 'asleep' by the next morning when the arrangement was delivered, and could neither see the arrangement nor read the letter that would have otherwise not arrived in time, but her mother read it to her and cried throughout, as reported to me, and it meant everything to her mom and to the rest of the family who also heard/read the letter. Without Nancy, none of this could've happened. My friend died just two days later, but I am comforted knowing that she might have heard that letter being read to her, and that her family still has that arrangement, one which they have already replanted. So - floral skill aside, this shop has a huge heart, and one that made a difference to people I care about, at a time when the only thing left was to let everyone involved know they were - and are - loved.
