I had a haircut today with Josie and was disappointed shortly after I left the salon and went to part my hair how I always do- slightly off center. I have a simple chin length bob with light layers. Josie did not ask me how I part my hair before beginning to cut it, which I only realized in hindsight. We were chatting and I didn't think to bring it up. I think this is a basic question ANY experienced stylist should ask, especially with a new client. So she cut while it was parted in the center. The top layers are now way too short (barely touch the top of my ears) and the only option as a result is to have a center part with this cut which is not flattering on me. I also had showed her a picture and my cut looks nothing close to it. I am really disappointed with the haircut and have to go elsewhere asap to try and get the cut fixed. Based on previews reviews I went to Hannah with short hair that had been buzz-cut 6 months previously. She did a great job getting me presentable for a wedding and she has been cutting my hair ever since. Hannah has a great feel for a cut that works for you as an individual and came up with a style that works. Bed head no longer, no problem wearing a hat. I saw Emili a couple weeks ago at Lemon Drop and she is incredible. She instantly makes you feel comfortable and really listens to what you want. I showed her a few photos of the look I was hoping to achieve and she nailed it! I have long, fine, wavy hair and she made it look so healthy and thick without taking off a lot of its length. My hair even looks good after I style it myself at home - that's how I know the cut is good :) She was easy to talk to but also let me relax. I highly recommend her. Word of Bailey's expertise with women's styling shared among friends led some of us to brave the men's salon set up, even while feeling like 'Edith Ann' in the guy sized chairs there, to have Bailey cut and color our hair. Imagine the delight when two weeks ago Bailey moved over to Lemon Drop! ABOUT THE SALON Home to about eight stylists providing full service hair care, the salon is spacious, well laid out and comfortably unpretentious. Welcoming to both genders and people of all ages. Comfortable sofa seating at the front of the salon with windows looking out across Minnesota Street to the Oxford Hotel provide a place to perch if you're early for an appointment or waiting on a friend. She is taking new clients since her move to Lemon Drop and I imagine her "dance card" will fill quickly once women who may not have known she did women's hair at the men's salon discover her here. In my vernacular I'd say Bailey is very talented at cut, color and styling of women's hair. Formally trained to make her technical skills excellent for cut and color, she also has great instincts about what will work best for her clients. She listens to her clients, she makes great recommendations and she is totally vested in the right outcome. Bailey is also a beautiful young woman with a delightfully engaging personality. I think that may have factored into her other client's appreciative "badass" summary too Bailey works Wednesday through Saturday with appointments starting at 10AM, when the salon opens. In my experience Bailey is always on time regardless of when my appointment is scheduled. Also, I appreciate very much that my experience to date has been the client in her chair has Bailey's full attention until the cut, color and styling is completed. THIS N THAT: 1) ACCESSIBILITY: Level in and throughout. Should be an easily accessible for people of all physical abilities and ages. 2) PARKING: On street parking is always a challenge in downtown Bend, but the parking garage is a block away and the Lava Avenue cross street for the salon typically has easier day time parking than others. 3) NEIGHBORS: Across from the Oxford Hotel, next to Thump Coffee. 4) PRICING: I add this comment as I note the Yelp page for the Salon shows $$$$ as the price range, calling it ultra high end pricing. In my experience, the prices for services are less than I have paid at other Bend salons. Were I able to change that reference on the Yelp page, I'd say $$ - good value. read more

Alicia W. has been doing my hair for years and years. While I no longer live in Oregon, I'm known to let my hair care go until I can see her again. She always helps me find the right products to keep my hair looking good until I can see her again. What I appreciate most (besides her amazing work) is how she asks what you like and don't like about your hair and takes the time to not only listen to it, but offers options to meet my hair goals. She's also a realist. She will tell me if something I'm envisioning isn't ideal for my hair and talk through the reasons, to help me find what would work best to fit my vision while still being realistic with my hair type. She's so thorough and always seems to have notes from what we've done before. Another thing I love about her is that even though she's so good at what she does, it seems like she's still constantly learning and keeping up with trends and new methods. Every time I see her she is talking about recent classes and cool things she's learned in hair care. I scoured the internet to see who the best balayage artists are in Bend, but Rachel's name never came up. She is not on Style Seat or SEOd to show up near the top of this list. After difficulty with getting appointments with stylists that do show up as top balayage artists in Bend, I was accidentally referred to her. I could not be more picky when it comes to my hair. I had been loyal to another salon in Bend for a long time but decided to try Lemon Drop. I was honestly not that impressed compared to my other salon experiences. I went in and booked for any available stylist and for a balayage, as that is what I always get. It said it was $200 on the website. When I got there, I got my stylist and everything was fine, however, she proceeded to tell me that what I have gotten in the past wasn't balayage, and that it was highlights because it was foils. But I guess in the past I had gotten partial highlights with also balayage. However, she decided just to go with a partial highlight instead which is not what I asked for. She only did the front half of my head and told me "next time when we have more time we will do your whole head" like what?? I came to get my full head done not the front half! I There was also just small things that I never really experienced before, I was walking back from the wash bowl and she had me hold my own soaking wet hair when I walked back to the chair with the water running down my back. No towel, nothing. I also asked for money pieces in the front, which I also did not get. And then, to finish it off, I was still charged $200 for partial highlights which is NOT the same price as a balayage. I was really sad because I heard some great things about this place, but really disappointed in my experience there. I won't be going back. read more
