It's one of my favorite parks in Walnut and I'm so glad that this beautiful park is in my neighborhood and close to us. I usually called it Lemon Creek Park in short. It's a small but clean and well-maintained park with a pleasant creek running through it. The William R. Rowland Ranch House made this park historic. My daughters used to go to the playground often when they were young. The playground is suitable for young children, and there is a walking path along the creek. We always take our dog for a walk there. The park is ideal for small family gatherings and it has picnic tables and barbeque areas but it is restricted for Walnut residents. Sweet, lovely little park with a very interesting historic past and a heavy hitter of a local name attached. This cozy redwood adobe ranch house was the homeof William R Rowland. His family was connected to Rowland Heights. The ranch house was part of 29,000 acres of land he inherited from his father John in 1871. The park has an amble playground for the kids and a huge covered patio bbq area. The patio is covered by a 175 year old Wisteria tree. I'll have to come back in the spring to see it in bloom. read more

By far the best park for large gatherings! We booked this park about a month in advance and hosted a potluck picnic for our congregation with about 80 people in attendance. There are picnic tables under a beautiful vine awning which provides shade on a sunny day. There's also 3 charcoal barbecue grills with plenty of table top space to work with. We had the grill going for hamburgers and hotdogs, along with plenty of sides and it was great! The restroom is right next to the picnic tables, as well as the the playground area. Great for parents who want to keep an eye on their children. Plenty of grassy area for sports too! We pitched up a volleyball net and got some games going. Overall, this park exceeded our expectations and made for the perfect afternoon picnic for a large group. Everyone had a wonderful time and we look forward to having more gatherings here in the future. *Tip: must have Walnut address to request shaded picnic area. Be mindful that if you do not live in Walnut you cannot rent out this park.. it's a very nice park but it's not for outsiders

I grew up in the neighborhood and graduated from Walnut High School. This review is mostly about the small creek, Lemon Creek, that runs through the park along the walking trail. As kids we would catch tadpoles, small frogs, crayfish, and small "creek fish" from the more wooded areas of the creek. I've taken my kids somewhat recently to check out the creek and I've still seen healthy populations of crayfish, small fish, and tadpoles. I'm sure that the local racoons and maybe coyotes eat the crayfish and frogs. As kids no one ever bothered us about being in the creek or catching what was in it. However, I should note that on a recent visit, there was a small sign now posted near the restrooms that stated that fishing or taking of any aquatic life was not prohibited by the Walnut Muni Code. Check out the creek to see some nature when at the park, but PLEASE don't litter or throw trash in the creek. read more

You have to live on the area to rent the space and I didn't like this because we live close to the park and we never see anyone there

Ideal park to bring kids to, lots of open space to run around or play on playground. Benches to sit if you wanted to pack a lunch and get some exercise after. Theres some trails to walk and nice scenery along the way. read more

This park seems to be a popular location for photographers. The scenery is beautiful and when you go before the sun starts to set, the lighting is just perfect. There are also plenty of trails with adorable bridges and mini streams. Who knew that this little gem was hidden in a residential neighborhood? There is a very small playground. But a huge covered picnic area with beautiful vines wrapping around the columns. I've seen a pretty large baby shower taking place complete with a catering tent. It seemed like a great venue. A hidden gem for the city of Walnut. Located in the heart of one of it's neighborhoods. I'm in love. I recently went for an Easter party. It was kind of small for a family pow wow, but surprisingly it comfortably fit four big parties going on at the same time. The restrooms were stocked nicely and relatively clean. But I guess is location, location, location that determines the upkeep of parks. There an incline throughout park. Rolling down the hills is a sure pastime for all kids when you visit this park. I was so tempted to do some hill rolling myself! There's a barbeque pit set within a cemented countertop for setting aside your food. Nice touch, you can go from cooking at the pit to serving in one swift of a movement. I believe there is about 10 picnic tables under a covered veranda. Vines act as shade spurred by cement and wooden beams. So beautiful when the sun shines because you get light from the sun poking through without the heat. There's a creek in the back of the park with gravel dirt road. It's kind of slippery because my son mange to tumble and scrape his knee. The creek itself has some sort of shrimp looking species swimming in there according to my sons friend. I'm a germ phob, so I wasn't too happy about that. The only bad thing I can see is that there is private parking for the park. You have to park the perimeter our into the neighborhood. I don't know if that would tick off neighbors but I'm sure they're used to it. I'm definitely coming back. read more

There is an adjacent creek that flows into a lovely wooden bridge that funnels into a historic local homestead landmark. On the other side, a horsetrail suited for runners loops down to Valley Blvd and is a useful 5K training lap. Unpaved and quiet, it's distant from traffic noise but close enough to activity and homes that solitary runners will be safe if encountering small critters (and you are impelled to scream.) Come for the playground, stay for the arbor and rolling hills for a picnic and nap. read more

Yes it is a smaller park and has a small playground but it is perfect for young kids! I used it on a weekend in novemeber for a small family gathering. you have to make reservations for the tables on the weekend with the city about a week before BUT you can also call the same week to see if it has been booked, if its not, its first come basis. so that what we did. wasn't a busy weekend so we were able to use the tables facing the playground to watch the younger kids we had in the group. we also set up some chairs and a blanket for those that like the more park picnic feel, which was right by the tables we had, also facing the playground. it was a great time and the park never got busy. its located in a quiet neighborhood with street side parking you walk downhill into the park, which is a nice feature if you have kids or pets that like to wander or run. restrooms are close to everything and looked pretty clean ( i only used to wash my hands) big picnic table area that is covered from the sun but not if it is raining. tables are big and this area is in the middle of the park. grassy areas on both sides. the playground side has more of an open and level grass area thats nice to play sports or if need to set up more tables etc. the playground seemed clean and was functional for the toddlers but would work for children a few years older too. around its border is maybe a two foot wall that parents can sit and watch from. there is a little creek passed the playground but i didn't have a chance to explore it. also by that area leads to a walking trail. overall i really liked this park and would use it for small gatherings or just an outing for me and the kiddos. read more

Small Hillside park with a kiddie play ground. It has a clean and easy to use restroom. What really makes this park nice in my opinion is the path down the hill by the stream. Nice trail for easy walking. I had to remove one star because of all the large dog poop on the side of the path. Love this park :) A lot of memories here. It doesn't have a huge playground area so don't expect to bring a large amount of kids, but when I was a child, I loved it. There are several tables so it's good for a family get together at a park, complete with barbecues and a fire pit (you need to ask for permission to use). There's an awesome adobe house so if you're into history, it's a great little sight. Again, it's a tiny park, but it's just so easy to make memories in a place like this. Plus, there are three pokestops here if you play Pokémon Go, lol. read more

This is the most beautiful park and the only place in the area to have a birthday party. I secretly don't want to tell anyone about it so it doesn't become booked up. What a hidden gem in this city full of parks. I always have my kids birthdays and we reserve all the tables as we always have lots of guests, I always get comments on how wonderful the location is and how beautiful the grounds are. read more

Been coming here since forever and sadly this park has not really improved..Its not a bad park, but it is small..small playground, small picnic area and small trail. Nice place to kick a soccer ball around with the kids or take a walk through the trails once or twice all the way to Valley Blvd. Its nice, just don't expect anything special. read more

Driving around the area and came up on this beautiful place. It's small, quiet and has a lovely creek, my family and I walked around and enjoyed our excursion...my six year old daughter loved looking at the plantlife and bugs she asked a lot of questions and learned a lot of new things. We will definitely be celebrating something here in the near future. read more

Small park. Most of the people I see at this park are there to use the picnic area. The playground is tiny. There is a nice trail that goes through the park and ends up in the neighborhood down the street. The trail is great up to a certain point and then it sort of turns into a bunch of dirt. read more
