Seal Beach Leisure World detailed with Addresses

Contractors (must be authorized to work in Leisure world), besides that they charge double, if the job is Not big enough, they will not even show up!! Also, if you decide to buy or sell a unit, Do Not trust the "On Site" real estate office and their agents! They work for the leisure world in a way, so they side with them instead of you who is paying cash!! Very tricky office, people and techniques!!! Security is maybe for the residents not anyone else! Pizza Hut drivers, contractors and their workers, and other people roam around the grounds while the regulations ask you to have your key of your home in a lockbox outside next to your entrance! How safe and smart is this??? Different mutuals of the leisure world, charge different fees, have different rules and some allow only one vehicle! You also must display on your left bottom corner of your winshield a sticker which expires every two years!!

I'm not sure why Leisure World has such low ratings but whenever I visit here I am always struck by how clean, quiet and peaceful it is here. I brought my parents to holiday flea market and prices were all very reasonable. I would love to live here to be honest when I am a little older.

Update, Many new clubs and new facilities since the pandemic. They just did a LW fair showcasing all the new clubs mango didn't knew existed which was great, but too short. I'm really glad they put license plate cameras and gates to improve security in LW. There's been loud complaining because it takes a few minutes to sometimes to get into LW. I've never had a problem with it. I am happy about the change and tightened security. That change should have happened a long time ago. We also have a great new minimart and drug store that replaced our pharmacy which closed last year. Big improvement that they carry fresh vegetables for cooking and the prices are reasonable, better than the previous pharmacy. During the time I've been here in LW my monthly fees have gone up but with inflation as it has been, it's not surprising. It's gone up about 25% which is steep going up in 15 years to $626 a month . The mutual has improved its garden services and my Mutual 8 board has done well in managing our expenses compared to other Mutual's. While I don't like the increases in the monthly costs, I think it's worth it to live in a safe, lovely place with 9,000 other people in this day and age.

This a great place for seniors. There are thousands of homes to choose from. There is security around the clock for safety. They have lots of activities to join and participate in. Parking is scarce. The homes are all owned and have adjoining walls. Each has a front patio/porch area. Be sure to check the requirements. Their concerts are top quality in the amphitheater.

Who knows what the prices of the houses will be here by the time I'm ready to retire. But if I do have the opportunity by then, I would absolutely consider living here. My in laws have been living here for the last 15 years and they absolutely love it. They enjoy all the senior activities, amenities, and friends. Their house backs up to the beautifully manicured golf course. Our kids love visiting. They especially love the bunny rabbits that roam around the gardens. This place has a tight security at entrance and is very well organized.

Ask the Community - Leisure World Seal Beach

Can you own more than 1 automobile?

Yes. You'll park 1 vehicle in your assigned carport and the other(s) on the street or on mutual property. You can also rent a carport from someone else, if available.

What's the price range? Mother is looking to retire soon. This community is closer to my home than where she is now.

Units can be 1 or 2 bedrooms. They can also be renovated or basic (as made back in the 1960's). Prices range from roughly $140K to $500K. I ain't no realtor, merely a resident. I highly suggest touring the property before contacting a realtor.… Read more

Then I asked Is this a senior center? ? He refused to answer these two basic questions with courtesy his response was (as he looked at his co-worker).... , "you'll have to go down the hall and ask them, at our gym. I said Is this a senior center ? He said " you'll have to go down the hall to ask the gym staff . ". !! WOW. How RUDE WAS THIS MAN there was no one else in the lobby except myself . He turned away ti glance at his coworker with a bizarre attitude that I asked a couple questions. I exited and walked away, still not knowing if this place was a Senior Center- because he refused to answer that question - I presented it 3 times to him. I just turned 65 a few days ago and I was excited to look around . He was by far the rudest associate out of two associates there at the front desk in an empty lobby. The other one turning her face away... I strolled to the gym and. Met an EXTREMELY NICE GAL ( short haircut Brunette) who welcomed me and she immediately answered my same question @ is this a senior center. She says YES ! She was a fabulous person that enjoyed her position there Now was that so hard - I say dump that guy - he doesn't know the first thing about customer service not now not ever , he was rude and unwilling to answer a couple of easy questions . Short haircut aprox 25. Yrs old. He obviously didn't want to be there

We chose Shipley without really knowing what to expect, and it ended up being such a sweet little reset. Important note: they're only open 9am to 1pm, so you've got to get there early. Parking was also super easy with plenty of space. Right when we walked in, there was a lovely lady at a table who offered us a scavenger hunt, which was adorable and instantly made it feel kid-friendly. Before we even started, my son and I posted up at the cutest little checkers board and played a few rounds in the sunshine. Simple quality time like that, in a beautiful setting, is everything. Then we hit the trails and since it was the day after rain, we saw the coolest mushroom situation: fuzzy white ones, bright orange ooey-gooey looking ones, and the kind that blend into the logs like nature's little magic trick. There are little ponds, trees with berries, and then you keep walking and find a tiny little redwood grove. I love redwoods. The fresh air and that slightly cooler feel under them is unreal. Bathrooms? Yes, and they were clean and easy to find, which matters. Trails were very flat, but I wouldn't call it stroller-friendly, especially right after rain. It was a little muddy in spots, but they have mulch and wood chips down in a lot of areas which helps. On the way out, I noticed the suggested donation is $5, but it's free to enter, which I really appreciate. They also mentioned First Fridays have extended hours and kid activities, so we're definitely coming back for that. Summary: easy parking, sweet kid-friendly touches, and a simple nature walk that feels like a mini reset. If you catch it the day after rain, just wear shoes you don't mind getting a little dirty.
