Nice place to spend time with people that you don't know , but become your friends. The center is clean with a lots of activities , food distribution if you need help, health screening very often , lunch daily and smiles and hi to everyone from the staff. What a wonderful hangout for people of ALL ages! That's right, you do not have to be a senior to take advantage of all the wonderful classes and programs the Cypress Senior Center has to offer! I especially like the Tuesday a.m. Tai Chi class and the Thursday a.m. Relaxation/Meditation class, oh and did I mention they are free?! I have also had a free hand massage and manicure as well as an educational talk with freebies from the local (and cute) fire department guys. One of the best and most fun things I am participating in at the center is a pen pal program with a lovely and fun school girl named Ranya! I love getting her letters which are full of her stories about her friends, teachers and her somewhat 'annoying' brother (except for when he's not!). In turn, she mentions that my letters to her are the highlight of her day! Wow, who could ask for more? The center is staffed by great Recreation staff including Teena and Joan, just to mention a few. There are also a variety of friendly volunteers who are always there to help, so if you need to fill your time there are a number of volunteer ops. Just think if you start hanging out at the Senior Center today you will know how to enjoy all it has to offer by the time you are old enough to be called a senior! read more

Went to a wedding reception here today,and was pleasantly surprised at the location. Hearing it was going to be at a senior center,I began to remember times going with my grandmother to her rec center to visit friends she would play cards with. That certain smell that went along with that center. Not bad, but just smelling of witch hazel. I even remember an older gentleman that wore this funny smelling cologne,and years later, I was in this music shop and smelling that smell and asking the lady behind the counter what that smell was. She told me it was Patchouli oil. That's the stuff the hippies made popular in the 60's. When I told her some old guy wore it when I was a kid,she said some people used it as an insect repellent. Yea right. Any how...This place did not smell like that nor looked like that. Senior centers have changed. You've come a long way baby! This place not only had a cool foyer with places to sit a visit,but had a card room,a conference room and various size rec type rooms. The Parking lot is big and their are plenty of restrooms that are very clean. The room we were in(the arts and crafts room) did not have a kitchen, as the party I was with had it catered,but I was told there might be one in the larger room. What was there,was a counter with plenty of space for a buffet type setting. There were 8 tables with 8 people per table which was provided by the center, and plenty of room to set up a few more. I know the parents of the bride,and when I asked the dad what this set him back he said it was cheaper then you think. When I do find out, I will post it. So what ever the occasion might be and you live in the Cypress or east O.C. area,I would consider this place or at the very least a must check out. p.s. feeling alive at 75!!! I have wanted to visit for a long time, particularly to check out your Bridge Sessions, but alas I don't drive. I am a disabled septuagenarian: survived 42 stab wounds a decade ago that occurred while opening up another homeless refuge under nonprofit that I founded. My miracle life is blessed. I have come a long, long way and found of late what I was missing most was social rehabilitation; so I have been in pursuit of what is offered at senior centers. I am not able to do night; so have been seeking daytime dance opportunities. To my delight, found your line dancing offered on the one day of the week that I could manage and lo and behold my beautiful neighbor Sue was interested too. So, we eagerly visited on Friday, January 8. When we met Mary Jo, we knew a special treat was in store for us. What a phenomenal teacher: such positive energy, enthusiasm, and empathy!!!
