I've done Kentucky bourbon tours as well as the major Tennessee whisky distillery tours. Leiper's fork was a shorter tour but just as enjoyable as any of the others. I live in Downtown Franklin and decided to take a little Sunday Funday drive (15 mins haha) to Leiper's Fork Distillery. The property is beautiful and the staff is welcoming! John, our tour guide was fantastic. He was warm, inviting and knowledgable. I have done a few Bourbon Trail tours and I would say this distillery rivals those! We visited Leapers Fork Distillery while visiting family for Thanksgiving week. It's a beautiful property with charming and festively decorated log cabin style buildings. The staff and family are so kind and accommodating. Pops, our guide was friendly and full of charisma. My husband is an avid whiskey drinker and loved their stuff, while I am not a huge whiskey fan, I too enjoyed the tasting. We have already recommended this spot to a few friends visiting TN, who also loved it! We highly recommend a stop if you're visiting or live in the area. read more

We stopped here while doing a day trip to Leipers Fork on our recent trip to Nashville. The grounds are beautiful and the tasting room and gift shop are nice as well. I am not a whiskey drinker, so I passed on the tasting and enjoyed sitting outside in one of the rocking chairs on the porch. My Dad, mom, and husband all did the tasting. They all raved about the whiskey and my Dad actually bought a bottle. This would be a 5 star review if it wasn't for the rude, unwelcoming, pushy, unorganized, bossy lady who "greeted" us, kept forgetting what we were there for, and kept making rude and annoying comments the whole time. She is why we won't return. Nothing like a bad seed employee to ruin something great. read more

Being a Nashville native, you would think I would be a bit more familiar with Tennessean distilleries but alas, I am not. I have only ever been to Bourbon distilleries in Kentucky, and a Whiskey one in Tennessee. I had already planned to explore Leiper's Fork one Friday afternoon, and was recommended by a friend to give the Leiper's Fork Distillery tour a try. First of all, we were originally going on a Saturday, and on the way we got a flat tire (thank you Nashville construction for that lovely nail). It was going to take an hour to get it fixed which meant we couldn't make the tour (I live 40 minutes away). I called the distillery not expecting a refund, but they were very kind on the phone and offered me a refund if I wanted one. However, I really did want to check it out, so I changed our tour to the following Friday. I really appreciated how kind and accommodating they were! We arrived Friday morning about ten minutes til 10 am. As soon as we got out of our car, the sweetest gray tabby cat greeted us. She was so gentle + sweet and let us pet her all we wanted. I am a cat lover so this was very exciting for me! The grounds are small, but well-maintained and landscaped beautifully. There is an old 200 year old cabin where the tasting room and gift shop are, a beautiful courtyard behind it, and the distillery barn behind the yard, making the courtyard in the middle. We first walked into the cabin, and were directed into the courtyard by a gentleman named Pops. Let me tell you about Pops - what a guy. Seriously almost asked him if he could be my grandfather. He was so knowledgeable with the whiskey and family history, and oh so funny. He kept us interested the entire time as well as giggling and snickering. He also had a fantastic southern accent that my English boyfriend quite enjoyed. The tour was done in the distillery barn, where you get to witness the big copper machine the whiskey is distilled in. There was another female cat in the barn, who was also very friendly (and chatty). She liked to follow us on the beams overhead. I later on asked a cashier about the cats, and she said the cats were in the woods when they bought the property, and they made the distillery their home. I really respect a business that is kind enough to give a rescue animal a home. The tour ends in the distillery room, and Pops tells you a beautiful story that makes you nearly shed a tear. You get to sample a rye, white whiskey, and a bourbon... we also learned how to CHEW whiskey! Ain't that wild?! I HIGHLY recommend visiting Leiper's Fork Distillery... it is the BEST distillery tour I have ever been on, and I will definitely be back. Call ahead and see when Pops is workin'! read more

My husband and I had been wanting to tour this place. Some friends came to visit from Nova Scotia this week, and it worked out for us to stop by. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous. We have taken notice of this every time we have driven by. We were warmly greeted and obliged a tour as soon as we arrived. Stan is an amazing tour guide. He is very knowledgeable of the history of the place as well as the process of distilling. This is a very family oriented, hands on operation. We were able to meet most of the people who make it happen. I love whiskey, but am not drinking at this time. However, I did participate in the aromatic portion of the tasting. My Canadian friends loved the corn whiskey; my husband was partial to the rye. I love rye whiskey, and it was my favorite to smell. I will absolutely bring other visitors to tour and recommend the three current whiskey products to others. This is an hour of your life well spent. read more

Such a fun experience. We've been to Jack Daniels and loved it but this was much more of an intimate experience. The guide gives a really great story of how they started and had several facts that we didn't learn at Jack Daniels. When you go through the tour, you get an up close view of the whole process and even get to taste the mash. After the tour concludes, you go to the tasting room for a generous pour of 3 samples, all 3 are great. They offer drinks and have several tables and chairs to relax at. It's off the beaten path but well worth the visit. read more

We've passed this distillery lots of times, but mostly we've been on bikes. Today we were in the car, and it was just before 4pm, so we stopped. We ended up doing the last distillery tour of the day - and we ended up being the only ones on the tour. Our tour guide John gave us such an informative and interesting tour, with lots of history and fun tidbits. I learned so much, even though I've been on other whiskey and bourbon tours. We were joined by 3 more people for the tasting (included on the tour, or can be done separately). We loved the samples, and agreed the bourbon was the best, but still really loved the whiskey and rye. This is a fun and interesting hour spent in Leiper's Form, I highly recommend it. I will be back for the monthly music event and the debut of their aged RYE! (They even offer half off tour price as a military veteran) read more

Wow! Loved this place! We did the 2:00 tour this past Saturday the 15th and then the whiskey tasting. Our guide was super knowledgeable and everyone had fun. This was a neat little place to visit. My husband liked the whiskey. They had a slushy drink outside that was good too. The drive to get there was pretty and green. We live in CA. so we aren't used to all the beautiful greenery. We went in July and it was very hot and humid. Seating is mostly outside. They have some seating inside but it was reserved the day we went. This day we went, we looked up and Johnny Knoxville was coming in. When my sister-in-law was in town, we went to do a tour and tasting at the new Leiper's Fork Distillery. I'm not a whiskey or bourbon drinker, but I was definitely surprised by how similar it is to making beer in some ways. I also learned how to properly taste and smell it. While visiting family in Nashville/Franklin, I was SO GLAD we made the quick trip out to Leiper's Fork for a tasting at the distillery. First, the buildings are very cool - basically huge log cabins, unique lighting fixtures, very cozy feel. Every person we interacted with was warm and friendly - especially pops the tour guide. Very knowledgeable, engaging, and the most genuinely kind person I've met in a long time. The tour and tasting were educational and fascinating. We had a great time at the distillery tour! It's a low key and inexpensive tour. All of the workers are very friendly and the gentleman giving the tour was great. The tour takes about an hour, which includes a tasting at the end. There is a nice shop to purchase items. The sour mash sourdough bread from a local bakery was delicious. What a beautiful setting. Leiper's Fork Distillery is a lovely and interesting way to finish the day. We decided to take the tour thanks to Yelp! We are glad we did. It was interesting and informative and Matt was very helpful in teaching us the differences between bourbon, TN whiskey & Moonshine. In fact we came home and answered a question on Jeopardy tonight thanks to what we learned so, it is definitely worth going. :) The tasting was fun and we learned the difference between tasting wine and whiskey - very different indeed. The gift shop was well stocked and offered a wide array of gifts. The front porch is tranquil with a lovely view to enjoy should you choose to rest a spell on the rockers. The only reason for 4* instead of 5* was because with the distillery being so young there aren't many aged whiskeys. However they are about to have their first batch of 'aged' and if it is of the quality of the staff and the facility it will be an easy bump to the 5th star. read more
